Jake M.We had these guys out for an estimate for an AC unit. They were the second company to give us an estimate.
They arrived on time.
They were priced over $1000 more then the other company and provided a significantly worse warranty. They seemed less knowledgable then first company. They did not know what electric company rebates were available to us either, which the first company did.
Bottom line is if you plan to have them give you an estimate BE SURE to get one from somewhere else also!
They are willing to install equipment that you purchase elsewhere, and claim to not warranty the equipment. That really means they wont warranty their installation either. They will even discount if you are stupid enough to do the same thing again, but will not work with you on what they will warranty. BEWARE.
Had an on demand water heater installed that we purchased from Home Depot. They claim to be a Rheem installer. We paid their prices which are on the higher end. We thought it was worth it. Less than one year after it froze. They now claim it is because we were not using it for several weeks. However nothing else in the house froze. They will give us a discount to do the same thing over again, but will not work with us to put in what they will warranty. Top dollar spent last year and they want us to spend retail pricing with them again this year and wonder why we are not happy. Don't use them.
Go someplace else for plumbing issues
They wanted $189 just for coming out and not working on anything and 239 just to replace the stopper part
Can people say rip off
There are 2 parts to this story. Genz Ryan installed the furnace and AC at my townhouse when it was built. So, I thought they would be fine to have check it out. The tech was very thorough ( I stood there the entire time. I am a mech engineer so I know what I was watching.) If I was just rating the service tech, I would give them 4-5.
I didn't think it through and he sold me on a service partner plan that included annual check-up on the furnace and AC, discount on parts and service and no extra fee for weekend emergency service. I bought into it and made sure I got the annual checks done. The plan helped with a recharge on my AC when it wasn't cooling off as much as before so I thought it was worth it. But last spring and now this winter, I was very put off when I tried to get the annual checks for AC (ended up getting done in late June) and the furnace was scheduled for late January as they didn't have any open time available. They were going to try to open more time slots for service partners and would call back but were sure they could come out in December. Called them back last week and they still didn't have any dates so we cancelled our on-sided partnership. Paid good money every month to get jerked around like that. Next time, I will try to find a company that hasn't gotten so big or maybe just get a deal on Groupon or Living Social. Then I will only get screwed once instead of twice annually.
Jerry B.I called to request a pricing estimate to replace a shut-off valve to an outdoor faucet. I was given an appointment date and then told that I would have to pay a service call charge of $99 if I don't accept their pricing to perform service.
The choices are: Pay $99 or pay an unknown and potential outlandish price for them to perform service. The service call fee is waived if you agree to have them perform service. Either way, you are going to have to pay them money if they come to your house, whether work is performed or not.
Not a very ethical way to perform business.
There a plenty of other plumbing companies that will gladly provide free estimates.
This company claims to have 100% satisfaction guarantee but apparently that only means for when it is convenient to them. I have a leak on a boiler I only bought 2 weeks ago and they won't come out today because they don't have any boiler technicians working today. Not my problem. I have water all over my floor. It will be their problem soon if this thing floods my basement. 100% satisfaction is B.S. Watch out for this company. Also, they did tell us we had to buy a new boiler because the carbon monoxide was too high and they had to turn off our heat. I really wish I would have had our gas company come over like that other reviewer. I wonder how true that really was.or if it is just a scare tactic.
Wish zero was an option! G-Ryan was hired by our builder. We are not from MN, and were not party to his hiring of subcontractors. But here are some of the results we are stuck with: collapsed undermounted sinks, overtightened fittings that burst and flooded the basement twice, water dripping inside the walls and a hot water feed to the washing machine that wasn't connected to anything at all. It was just danging into the drain pipe.
Where it gets dangerous is in winter when the bedrooms fill with sewer gas from adjacent bathrooms. Sewer gas is toxic and flammable. When the temperature drops below zero, the stand pipes are blocked with frozen condensation because they turn (code violation?) rather than exit straight up through the roof. Unable to draw and expel air through the exhaust pipe means there is a very noisy back draw when a toilet is flushed. This vacuum effect drains the water seals from the p-traps, allowing sewer gas to enter. After the toilets refill, the sink and shower drains must be manually rewet to seal. The sinks and showers themselves are essentially unusable during this time as they will not drain more than a small amount of water. Repeat until Spring thaw!
GR's response to repeated pleas to correct their shoddy, dangerous work: ""Your house is not in our service area.""
Genz-Ryan is a terrible company. They try to rip you off with service plans and upgrades. They installed my A/C unit on my new house. Two years later it is broken and I call them to come out. It is going to be an emergency fee because they are busy and can't come out for 2 weeks. I call a different company who tells me that they had added way too much refrigerant to the system causing the coil to break. I call Genz-Ryan to come fix it and they charge us $1200 for just the labor (coil was covered under warranty). Then try to upgrade our charge for $1700 that includes a 90 day warranty (the $1200 repair comes with no warranty). Sure enough, the A/C breaks two weeks later and they won't come back out because we didn't pay the extra $500 for the warranty. Called another A/C company, and once again Genz-Ryan overcharged the refrigerant in the system. The guy was able to remove an excess 3 lbs. and luckily it started right up. Since it had only been a couple weeks, there wasn't enough damage to the unit to completely break it like last time. Needless to say I've spent $2000+ on Genz-Ryan's mistakes that they won't admit to or repair. NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY. Huge rip off!
Had an appointment scheduled for ""11:00-3:00pm"" window. Got a call at 2:00 that plumber was running behind but would be at my house around 3:00. At 4:00 I called to see where he was and was told I was next on list...he was just finishing where he was and would call me soon. At 5:00 I left my house and eventually got a call with an apology but no offer to reschedule or make it right. Incredibly bad Customer Service and will never use them again.
Michael S.Poor customer service. Always make you leave voicemail. Difficult to talk to live person. Continued yearly problems with unit they installed. They have had to service a brand new unit 6 years in a row. Sometimes more than once a year. Stay away from this company
