I ordered a service tune-up. Salvador arrived on time and was at my house for 3 hours. He repaired an air leak in my attic at no cost, pointed out that I had animal droppings in the attic area and did a thorough inspection of our unit. He then proceeded down to the outside fan and cleaned and serviced that, adding 2lbs of freon. He sat with me and explained and categorized all the issues with my system. He emailed the estimate and all findings. This was all done for the cost of $79. Salvador was a total professional, he was polite, succinct and his attention to detail is outstanding.

If you decide to call them, see if this happens to you.
The repair guy comes out, tells you it's ________ problem and he doesn't have the part on the truck. It's going to take about 3 - 4 days to order it and the system is so old/mismatched/bad quality/etc... that he can't guarantee that this is going to fix it.
Big Pause.... he watches your face as the horror is setting in that you won't have air conditioning in 110 degree heat for the next 3 - 4 days and there is no end in sight because that may not even fix it.
At this point he reminds you that your system is old/mismatched/bad quality/etc...
And then he reminds you that it may not even fix it, again.
He knows he's got you.
He'll send out a comfort adviser in less than an hour who can help you. The comfort adviser will need 60-90 minutes to go over everything to make sure you get the perfect system.
After 60-90 minutes the comfort adviser presents you with a paper with 5 options from Bronze to Platinum Plus. It doesn't talk about what size system or the SEAR rating or even anything else that is important. Bronze list has a lot of under ""Features and Benefits"" while Platinum Plus has all kinds of ""Features and Benefits"" plus a financing plan.
Oh, and the price seems so high... hmmmm...... but it is a special price for me since I'm such a valued customer with their annual maintenance plan.
But now they are talking about their integrity and the guarantee. Oh, and they can either install it later today or first thing tomorrow morning.
This happened to both me and my mom. For me, I asked him to give me the size of the fan motor and I would order it on Amazon and have it here the next day and asked him if he could come back tomorrow and install it. Magically he pulled one off the truck and for about $800.00, I was fixed.
For my elderly mom, she told him she would have to call someone else because it was late and the comfort adviser couldn't come until the next day. He magically pulled one off the truck and for about $800.00 she was fixed until the next morning. $800.00 down the tubes.
Please, call around and get some other quotes. NextGen and Bendtsend&McGrew are both good ones to call. We saved 3G from the Bronze price for a better system. Well, 2,200 since we wasted the 800.00 trying to fix it.
If you do decide to go with them, at least go through Costco and get the 10% Costco cash card that your comfort adviser didn't tell you about.

I just had an A/C tune up from The General Air Conditioning & Plumbing Co. Ernie Soto was the service tech. He showed up on time and was very friendly and professional. My A/C was working fine, so I didn't expect much more than a quick inspection. However, Ernie was very through and not only gave the evaporator and blower a complete inspection in the furnace closet, He went up on the roof, hosed down the compressor compartment, checked all the connections, and ran several diagnostic tests. All this for $79.00 The only reason I didn't give them five stars was their prices for repairing certain items were imbeded with other services that I felt were unnecesary and therefore too expensive.

Did not show for scheduled appointment. Very interested in selling monthly AC service on the phone, but no folllow-through. Poor service!

Kevin took the time to perform our Service+ Maintenance. Very friendly and explained what was needed to ensure we didn't have issues in the future. On time and professional. The staff in the office is always nice and helpful and was able to get us an appointment that coincided with our busy schedule.

An update: General reached out to me and offered to make the necessary repairs without additional charge. While it was frustrating to have to insist on this, and the extra time it took, they did make good on their commitment to back their work--which is appreciated.

Tried calling ""The General"" . . . did not respond to the request - My air conditioning is out.. Called several hours later only to find that they would come out on an overtime basis, even though I called several hours before with no response - I had to provide my service information again to this rep - Don't bother calling - may try booking on internet - might be successful.

so we pay 12k for an new a/c unit in 2014, turn it on in 2017 and it dosnt work. we call and the tech says there is no freon, another tech as to come out a few days later to verify there is no freon. it turns out that the evaporator coil leaks. after 5 trips we have a new evap coil and another bill for a grand. warranty on parts was 10 years but on labor is only 2 years. they normally have that coil in stock but had to order it this time. to me it sounded like a scam if they normally keep that coil in stock, they know that it will fail in a little over 2 years and just use it as a money making scam. dont believe the commercials

BEWARE FALSE PROMISES. The equipment pad promised was never installed. Even though it was mentioned twice on our DocuSigned contract, they are refusing to honor their commitment. Also, they left an open caulk gun and box of screws on top of our air conditioner unit (in the sun). My wife was pressured to sign an agreement that the work was done without the technicians taking her outside to inspect the work (maybe then they would have noticed the caulk gun).

I'd like to start out this review by letting you know that I use Yelp for positive feedback in almost every situation. Sadly this review will be outline the outrageously unprofessional treatment that I experienced from Casey, one of their installers.
I asked him upon arrival if they would be finished the installation of a new hot water heater by the time I needed to get ready and leave for a wedding in LA. He assured me that he'd have the water back on in my house along with the hot water heater working before he took his lunch so I could get ready and head out to the wedding. Well, he wasn't finished getting my water up and running before his lunch which he took at noon for an hour. Upon his return I asked why he left for lunch before he had water back on before he left for lunch? He had a defensive attitude and said ""dude I don't know what to tell you it's not done and you just need to go shower somewhere else. His tone was aggressive and and inappropriate for any contractor working in anyone's home. We bantered back and forth about his commitment to have it completed before he left for lunch much. I will own the fact that I shut my front door hard in frustration due to his aggressive attitude. I did not slam the door but gave it a firm close. He was outside in my courtyard. He open my door and said don't slam your door on me and began into an aggressive banter where he said ""F"" you. That blew my mind. I've been in the construction industry for 25 years and have never had a contractor get that aggressive with me and I've never had one tell me ""F"" you.
I asked him to leave and and he got 2"" from my face and told me that I'm a ""F"" ing ""A"" hole. He left the job incomplete and a mess. I missed the wedding.
Never ever use The General HVAC and Plumbing. The owner Greg was nice to deal with but their employee was the absolute worst!!
By the way the cost of installing a 40 gallon water heater was $2,400.
