Highly do not recommend this company. There are supposedly only two plumbers who can not hold it together. They have incompetent office staff that have no clue how to book appointments. Booker promises plumber will call and confirm dates and the project . Nothing happens and they then call and say they are at your door why are you not there. Then they delay you another 2 weeks and can not confirm their appointment. For people who work this is not the company for you. The owner was coarse and did not apologize for any of office staff and plumber mishaps. Very unprofessional
don't waste your precious time

On a Saturday late afternoon, we had an issue with an outdoor spigot that was frozen in the ON position. I contacted Gem Plumbing for after hours help and when the ""plumber"" contacted me, he told me that A) he was ""all the way in Glendora"" (my location was Pasadena) and it would take forever to get to me. B) for me to change the hose nozzle so that I could put it in the OFF position. I told him that another hose nozzle was not available, and due to water conservation I was really upset about the wasted water. He then stated ""that was what he would do if he came out anyway"" and that on Monday someone could come out and look at it. This was not an option for me, so I contacted someone else.

Our 25+ years of very good experience with Gem destroyed by an utterly incompetent dispatcher.
We contacted Gem to have our water heater replaced. Provided the dispatcher with photos of our old water heater, model/maker information, and water heater location. We requested an Energy Star model. We were quoted an ""out of the door"" price. When the plumbers show up, they brought a water heater with an incorrect dimension which required modification to the water lines. We tacitly agreed to the modification as we tried to accommodate Gem as we, up to this point, have had a very good experience with them for 25+ years.
After the modification was made, we discovered the water heater was NOT Energy Star. We halted the work and requested a phone call from the dispatcher to find out why the two mistakes.
Long story short, we receive no reply until THREE DAYS LATER. We found another plumber to finish the work.
Gem sent us a bill for the modification which was resulted from the dispatcher's mistake. $845 for removing old water heater and re-routing water lines. We reached out to Gem. Hoping to have a solution to this as we were basically held responsible for Gem's mistakes. No luck.
Well, we paid the bill as we see no benefit to escalating this and prefer to move on with our life. However, we will NEVER use Gem again, will not refer Gem to anyone, and would discourage anyone from working with Gem.

I have been a customer of Gem Plumbing for about 30 years. The owner recently retired. Not sure if this is the reason for the demeanor of their manager-Kim?
I called to request information about a clean out they did at my rental (get it done annually). He interrupted me as I was talking and I asked him to please let me finish so I could explain why I was calling. He let me talk but did not listen so I tried to explain the nature of my question another way, he interrupted me again. I said ""your interrupting me again"". He told me ""I know what you are going to say"". Well Kim if you are a mind reader what are you doing managing a plumbing company??? He then proceeded to tell me I was creating a problem. Incredibly presumptuous and rude. I never got a chance to get an answer to the question, was not even asking them to come out again and if that were necessary I would have been happy to pay for the extra work. I told him if this was the manner I was going to be treated as a customer who had a legitimate inquiry I will go somewhere else. Never got a call back. You would think, especially with a long time customer, they would be more respectful. Never giving them my money again.

I used Gem plumbing when an outdoor hose spigot broke last year. They used cheap plastic parts that were immediately leaking and eventually broke, even though we barely use that spigot. We had to turn our main water off when the plastic pieces broke to stop the flood. They told me it would be two days because they only have two vans working and they would charge me full price again also. Two days even though I told them we can't flush our toilets. They seemed not to care at all. We called a different plumber. It was a plastic piece that broke in half attached directly to the spigot. Terrible.

I was highly disappointed with the service provided. Called to fix the fixture for Air conditioning water to go out and the guy replaced the fixture everything but during the process glued the joints as such that water started leaking inside the home. I noticed after 2-3 days later when my floor was all wet under the carpet. I will never recommend to any one.

Sunday morning our toilet started sliding around on the floor. The flange that the toilet was bolted to had deteriorated and the bolts holding the toilet to the flange had rusted away. They squeezed us in and did a great job.

GEM lives up to their name. They arrived when they said they would, listened to what the problem was and proceeded to fix it. Dakota is very knowledgeable and helpful. Having contractors in our home during Covid can be really stressful...but don't give it another thought --call GEM.

After 3 other companies told us our only choice was to replace our nonworking A/C for a minimum of $10,000, Gem replaced a $50 part, and the system is working great! The first company to send out a tech instead of a salesperson. I will never call anyone else! Both wore masks the entire visit (not true for other companies).

Gem was referred to me by my neighbor. I asked Gem, along with 2 other plumbing companies, to provide an estimate to replumb my entire house. I met with David Pedroza, who is co-owner of Gem. David was very personable and thorough during the walk-thru. He came across very honest and sincere. When I received the 3 estimates, I was surprised to find that Gem had the most competitive bid, and beat out my regular plumbing company.
The work took 3 days to complete. Gary, was the person in-charge of the work. Gary was very service-oriented and responsive to any of my comments or concerns. His team members were very neat and minimized the disruption to my house. They did a nice job cleaning up their work areas, which included the basement. I had them replace my water heater, too.
At this time, I am pleased with their work (of course, time will tell the truest story) and would highly recommend them others. Also, I plan to use them as my regular plumbers in the future.
