They have excellent customer service and fixed all of my plumbing issues from a cracked drain line, to hydrostatic tests, and patching in the concrete. We are so happy to have found such an incredible plumber in Austin. I had an emergency plumbing incident that required me to shut off the water to my house and every plumber I called had no availability to come fix it that day. I saw folks from G&M outside of my neighbor's house and went up to them as a last resort. Gus (the owner) was a complete life saver and dropped everything to came to my house on the spot to fix the issue! Gus is amazing and I can't recommend him enough!

I have a main street insurance agency in an old (1930's) converted house. The old building can't help but need the assistance of contractors of all kinds on occasion. I was referred to G & M Plumbing by a friend and couldn't be happier with the service I received. They arrived on time, were very friendly (Eric helped us), and quickly knocked out the small leak (replaced faucet) in no time at all with no inconvenience to my clients. And the invoice was smaller than expected. I'm careful with referring businesses but would proudly recommend G & M Plumbing. There are now my go-to plumbing company.

These guys were lifesavers! We had a renthouse built in `61 and sank ALL of our savings into a refurbishment, including new HVAC, floor, roof, paint in/out, fence, landscape, remodeled bathrooms, electric, water heater, textured ceiling, covered patio and recessed lighting. Had a terrific offer from the first person visitor, but they wanted a complete plumbing drain test. And it failed miserably, even though there was never a drain issue and we were tapped out. The house was built on a slab. The first few plumbers guys we called wanted to jackhammer thru the new flooring. The foundation guys wanted to tunnel thru the underside. All quotes were over $24k. We were crushed. We got a referral on G&M and all was good. Lucy was friendly and helpful, the Gustavo and the guys were there the next day and gave a quote of $17k for the tunneling option. Not only that: they would wait until after the closing to get paid. So awesome! The job took a week to do, and they arranged all permits and inspections, tunneled from one end of the house to the other, sent photos of the progress and spread the excess diggings over the low areas of the yard. The house reinspection passed with flying colors, the house sold for the higher price, and G&M was paid at closing. Highly recommended. They will do my next house recon without question... " )

So, when you have to get your foundation fixed, they DO NOT tell you that there is a VERY high probability that your plumbing is GOING to break. In my case, due to some poor decisions that the former home owner made, it was basically guaranteed to happen. And, not surprisingly it did.

What this means, is that you need to call a plumber to run a camera through your plumbing and find out where it is broken. Mine was so busted that we basically had to move all of the plumbing outside. This is very bad news for the bank account and even worse for your morale.

So I started calling plumbing companies and one that I won't name (read: Clarke Kent Plumbing) read to me from a script. It went a little something like this:

Her: Clarke Kent Plumbing

Me: Hello, I'm having my foundation repaired, and I'm going to need to schedule a static line test to see if my plumbing is broken. I don't need an appointment right now, but I want to find out if you do this, how much it costs, and what I would need to do to schedule it when we are ready.

Her: Thanks for calling today. Our technicians have trucks stocked with all of the tools they need to get the job done. I'm going to need to get a little more information from you so we can schedule an appointment. BLAH. BLAH. BLAH.

Me: I need a static line test.

Her: Well, let's go ahead and get you scheduled for that.

Me: I don't feel like we're having a conversation because I just told you want I needed and you are reading to me from a script.

**Note: I called at least 5 plumbers or plumbing companies, and this sums up a number of the experiences I had.

While relocating all of your plumbing costs a pretty penny (read: it costs about the same thing as repairing the d*mn foundation), one prefers to give thousands of dollars to someone that one likes. Oh, and someone, who is willing to quote you a ballpark price and talk to you like a human rather than a robot.

Enter the hero, G&M Plumbing, stage right.

If I've said it once, I'll say it a million times. If I have to pay someone my arm and both of my legs to fix my plumbing, at least it was Gus (and the rest of his trusty and professional family team - Lucy and Eric). Let's be clear - his price is very fair for what I needed fixed.

This summer I have had Gus relocate my plumbing, install faucets in the kitchen sink and the bathroom sinks and showers, switch my stove from electric to gas, install my dishwasher, set my toilets, run a water line to the fridge, fix my hot water heater ... YOU NAME IT and it has probably been done at my house. Let's just stay that we we built a relationship. I've got the number to G&M Plumbing MEMORIZED ... 990-0505 ... to the point that I can tell you the number immediately.

I recommended him to a co-worker who had a really good experience with a shower repair ... and the price was right.

Let's just say, I am deeply, intimately acquainted with their services and I highly recommend G&M Plumbing.

It's so hard to find a good plumber, but we did! We had a bathtub that needed new copper piping and some drain problems fixed, and G&M came out earlier than expected, gave me a quote right then and there, and was even able to do the work at that time. It was less expensive than we expected and done super quickly (and very well!). The plumber was really nice and explained everything to me, and even looked at a couple of other things I had questions about. I highly recommend them! Plus you can call the office later and pay with a credit card (airline points!), which I appreciate. Fadia, their receptionist, is also a delight.

I normally don't do reviews but had to on this one. so Here it goes.

I called a big named service (ARS) bunch of thieves!!!! ARS came out to my rent house (which I was unable to be there at the time because I live out of town) and charged me $1428 to repair some busted pipe directly under my toilet and then to tell me I had roots growing 10 feet into my plumbing under the slab with more busted pipe, then gave me a bid for $4200 to fix that which did not include repairing the slab back. Which would be an additional $700 at least I was told. So I decide to make the trip to Austin and look for myself.

So I called G&M talked with Lucy on Labor Day and they were willing to come out and meet with me whenever at no charge! I met them Wed morning because that was the soonest I could be there. They were very nice and friendly.

Wed morning comes around and G&M Show up on time and began looking around. He asked if I wanted him to run the camera to check it out/ So he called his son and he came with the camera. They were able to run the camera and determine there was absolutely no other damage, it was very obvious I was about to get screwed by the other company. I asked him how much he would charge me to repaire the huge hole they had already busted and put my pipe back and reset my toilet, when he told me $350 bucks and no charge to run the camera, I almost died I couldn't believe it!!! I went from almost $7000 to $350, maybe he felt bad for me but I was happy as could be and he will be my plumber for now on. Thanks Gus, Eric and Lucy I will tell everyone I know about your honest hard working company.

G&M did a full replacement of our old cast iron sewage pipes under our slab foundation. I'd definitely hire them again.

They are a family owned company and went above and beyond helping us get our nasty old pipes replaced. They were always available to respond to calls, answer questions, and made me feel like a valued customer. Their bid was also less expensive than several others I got for this job.

If you are thinking about getting your cast iron pipes replaced under your house, I'd look no further than these guys. They'll do right by you and bust their asses until the job is done. Your money will be well spent with them.
