Freedom Plumbers began as a sister company to an established drain cleaning service.
Initially, Freedom focused on repairing and replacing underground sewer and water lines using trenchless pipe bursting and no-dig (CIPP) lateral lining techniques.
By 2014, Freedom Plumbers expanded to offer full plumbing services for both residential and commercial sectors.
In early 2018, Freedom Plumbers separated from the drain cleaning company, allowing it to operate independently, which led to more services, enhanced solutions, and a smoother customer journey.
Now, Freedom Plumbers is recognized as a full-service plumbing, drain, heating and cooling, septic, sewer, and water trenchless and no-dig specialty firm.
If you have a leak, we’ll take a look! Ricky Salinas started his plumbing career in 2005, working as a drain cleaning specialist for a national plumbing franchise based in Manassas, VA.
Ricky specialized in drain cleaning and diagnosing underground pipes. While working for this franchise, he learned about trenchless and no-dig (CIPP) technologies.
In 2007, Ricky accepted a position with a smaller drain cleaning company that was owner-operated. He jumped right into the work.
In 2008, Ricky and the company owner became business partners. By the end of 2008, they launched the ""Plumbers"" division, and by 2009, the new company was up and running, taking calls and offering solutions as a subcontractor to bigger plumbing companies and directly to clients.
By early 2018, Ricky bought out his business partner and continues to lead the company as CEO to this day.

Matthew R.They've had to reschedule the initial visit 4 times now in me so I finally just said no more. They apparently have so much emergency business they don't need other calls. Either the emergency business is with existing clients and the work is faulty enough to cause issue, or they just have so much business they don't really need my business. Either way, not a situation I want to be stuck in.
KUDOS to Freedom Plumbers for another job Well Done!! My main water shut off in the house I just purchased was located on the floor behind the hot water heater. Unless you're a 5'1 110 lb gymnast or a contortionist...it was impossible to reach...imagine if it was an emergency? Mr. Gary Brown - Freedom Plumbers - 'Plumber Extraordinaire', installed a new main water shut off for me - up high - so even an arthritic 63 year old retired Coastie like me can reach it. He made it look easy with the Propress. I really got a chuckle when he had to get on the floor to reach the old one...LOL! Thanks again Gary (Mr. Brown), and Thank You Freedom Plumbers for some more GREAT WORK! I Appreciate your reasonable rates, Personable & Professional Employees and Quality Workmanship. Keep Up The Great Job. Bravo Zulu!!
To be honest I didn't think I would end up giving Freedom Plumbers five stars due to scheduling delays, rescheduling, running late, etc. The process of getting Ricky to my house was somewhat frustrating and trying but in the end it was all worth it. Ricky has a terrific attitude and great knowledge of septic systems. Mine needed pumping and, as well, I suspected other issues. Ricky and his charming dad, Carlos, did a super professional job emptying the tank and inspecting the surrounding area to help determine the problem. The whole time I was kept informed of exactly what was going on and learned a lot in the process. The price was fair and they did a great job tyding up afterwards. Ricky is sending a colleague to video my system to see exactly what is going on. He suspects a clog at the distribution box and this is the best and most cost effective way to determine the issue. I have used other companies in the past and only after seeing the professional job done by Freedom Plumbers did I come to realize how inferior their performance had been. I will always use Freedom Plumbers as my go to for my septic and any other plumbing issues that arise. Thanks Ricky and Carlos!
Henry T.TLDR:
Pros: Friendly, fair pricing, workers were considerate of my space and time, fixed all issues eventually.
Cons: Very difficult to reach by phone, pulled the wrong permit, large delays between visits, failed first inspection.
I would use them again, albiet with a bit of hesitation.
Now for my detailed experience.
I used Freedom Plumbers to install a utility sink, a hot water heater, and to run new drains.
On the bright side, they we always very friendly, didn't overcharge, didn't try to change pricing last minute, kept my place reasonably clean, and all the plumbing seems to work. They also worked well on site, were conscious of not using too much space, and getting everything done and workers out in a timely manner.
On the other hand, it took Freedom Plumbers, from the date I signed the estimate to begin work, to the day the work was completed, a total of 85 days. Of those 85 days, I contributed about two weeks of delays (well, my landlord did at least), due to a bad WSSC number. The work itself took less than a week, the workers themselves had a good work ethic. Most of the delays were administrative, particularly with permitting.
So what exactly caused the delays? Mostly difficulty in communication, and an incorrect permit. Every time communication was needed, I would attempt to reach Freedom Plumbers by phone. Calls would often go to a third party receptionist, who would almost never pass along my message to Freedom Plumbers. Everyone within Freedom Plumbers itself was very helpful, but reaching them was often more difficult than it should have been, making a phone call felt like rolling a slot machine and hoping for three 7s, because if someone outside of the Freedom Plumbers team picked up the phone, my needs would usually not be met. I had to simply keep calling every day until someone from the company picked up, and not a third party, meaning it would take up to a week to make almost any communication that needed to be made. This caused most of the delays, a few days at a time, throughout the experience, and is the main source of any frustration I have.
The second delay occurred after my floor was torn up for installation, it turned out they pulled the wrong permit, meaning I had to wait for the permitting process a second time, only this time with a gaping hole in my floor that remained for over a month. Getting the permit the first time was difficult enough, and I had to make several trips to the WSSC to connect them to the plumbers so that they could sort out the permitting, which I really should not have been a part of to begin with. The second permit took just as long, if not longer, thanks largely to my landlord being unresponsive, but also because of the aforementioned delays in communication, multiplied by the volume of communication needed to acquire the permit.
At the same time, although this caused to additional delay because it overlapped with the permitting problem, the first inspection failed, and Freedom Plumbers had to make adjustments to the piping. This was much less of a hassle than it seems like it would be, but still worth mentioning.
At the end of the day, I would use them again, because the work got done, my wallet is intact, and nothing disastrous happened. There is a shortage of good plumbers, and most plumbers seem extremely busy, so I don't lay too much fault on Freedom Plumbers. Simply put, although they have their problems, I still think using them is better than risking another company.
Tony T.Sent a message via Yelp to multiple companies asking for assistance with a plumbing issue. Freedom Plumbers was the first to reply an was able to come to my house within an hour to resolve the issue. Fortunately, the issue was minor an didn't require a lot of work to be done. Freedom Plumbers resolved it and went about there way. Sometimes all you need is a company to show up and get the job done. Freedom Plumbers went above and beyond that expectation. I highly recommend this company!
Called early this AM at about 6:30 because I overwhelmed my garbage disposal by throwing some chicken down in ( bonehead move. Don't be like me!) Beth called me back in less than 10 minutes to schedule an appt for between 10am-2pm. Tech arrived at just about 10am. Gave me an estimate of $390 to unclog the drain. He saw my shock and said it wouldn't take too long and he would be able to reduce it to $300. I was also able to donate some canned food to their food drive for an additional $25 off ( saw this on their yelp page and asked )My sink drain was clogged to the point it had to be taken off and emptied out. Tech was done in about 35minutes. Overall very fast response and great service. A little pricey compared to other plumbers but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
Kathleen A.The office was supportive and helpful. Courteous and pleasant. Ricky was awesome when he came out to take care of our septic system. They seemed reasonable polite and prompt what more could you ask for
song s.Nick came out & did a fantastic job on a bathtub overflow & drain leak that 3 other plumbers couldn't begin to figure out. He was friendly and knowledgeable and really understood and could explain the whole system in a way that I understood. Robbie In the office was super helpful in getting us set up with a timely appointment. I will definitely call on them for future work!
Alison P.I called Freedom after another plumber made an appointment and then failed to show-up (this seems to be an absolutely endemic problem amongst service people and contractors in my area - I guess they don't rely on repeat business). Freedom was able to come on short notice. The plumber they sent was very honest with me - he admitted that while he could snake the drain for several hundreds of dollars, it would probably not do much to fix the problem, even in the short term. While the problem they encountered is going to require a more expensive and long term solution, I appreciate the honesty.
E B J.It was to be a septic field inspection/camera and field lines to be repaired, turned into childcare. There never was a written proposal, The ball was dropped and nothing was repaired. Not good professional ethics abandoning a job leaving a 2 time breast cancer survivor with a disabled daughter. Very very unprofessional.
