Based upon the significant number of 5 star reviews, I contacted Petros Floros Thursday afternoon 5/3. I purchased a new kitchen faucet for a farmers sink. The old faucet had seen better days and had been installed over 20 years ago before I bought the house. To save the plumber time and me some money(at least I hoped anyway), I removed (with hack saw) the old faucet and copper connections which were rusted together. There were now 2 clean lines coming in with shut offs and the sink was cleaned up for the new faucet connections.
Petros took my call quickly and requested I text him some pics of the sink area.
After he looked at the pics he texted back asking ""Is there was any way of getting behind the sink?""
""I told him there was access under the sink.""
P Flores response was: ""With the schedule I have I don't know if I would have the time to find the special fittings you're going to need to mount that faucet to the back deck sink. Normally you would mount to 1/2"" drop your 90's that are threaded to the back wall screwed to the wall before the sink was put in place but I don't think that's the case"".
My response:""So you don't have the time to do something that does not appear to be straight forward?""
His response: ""It is straightforward I would just need to hunt down that special part that I needed for that and I don't think I have the time with the nine jobs that I have scheduled tomorrow if it was something simple that I could get done within an hour I could try to fit it in but I don't think I have the time frame available tomorrow(Friday)"".
My response: ""How about Saturday, Sunday or Monday?""
His response: ""My schedule is completely packed on Saturday, Sunday I spend with family(Angie's list has hours listed for Sunday) and Monday I have a pretty full schedule right now"".
My response: ""How about Tuesday, Wed, Thurs?""
No response from Petros about these days. My final text questioned his ratings and I said I would seek alternative solution. He did text again telling me about his personal issues and being overwhelmed.
**My expectations from a 5 star plumber would be that he could troubleshoot and install a new faucet in an old house. Instead, I was told there didn't appear to be any times available, ever!
Solution: I purchased in stock at Home Depot 2 90 Hyset elbows & 2 Brass pipe nipples (1 1/8"") no lead. I had some Type L copper pipe and sweated a few connections on the cold side. The hot side was a straight run. There was enough bracket on the elbows to grab on the back side of the sink and the front faucet connector covers grabbed against the face of the sink to give me a very solid hold. Job is done, looks great and took me a couple hours (not counting Home Depot). I really didn't have the time to do all this but had such a bad experience with Flores I didn't want to contact another plumber. (Yes, I am lucky to have some tools and basic knowledge) I figured a good plumber would have a truck with significant inventory of standard assorted fittings and would be able to attach/troubleshoot the faucet quickly. I understand trying to anticipate the fix by text can be challenging. BUT, Flores Plumbing was not only too busy Friday to handle. Too busy the next several days after and no response to schedule the job for the next several days after that.
My advice: Seek a plumber through a local reference and be wary of all 5 star reviews.

Called due to frozen pipes. He is not available today due to a (non-work) emergency, but courteously answered the phone and gave a response so that I knew. Was pretty impressed with this. Will likely go with him next time. Have spoken to him on the phone before for a prior issue.

My only hesitation about writing this review is I don't want Petros to become so busy he doesn't have time for me! But nonetheless, he deserves an awesome review. Our latest dilemma....

Spent the last 24 hours wrangling with frozen pipes. Nothing we tried (hair dryers, space heaters, cranking the heat to 90, heating coils for the basement pipes, etc.) did the trick. Turns out the culprit was a frozen pipe behind one of the walls that we didn't have access to.

Called Petros around 9am today and he was here before noon, despite a long list of customers dealing with the same issue. He got the thaw machine hooked up and had the issue resolved in 5 minutes. He rushed over and dealt with it before any pipes burst, which could have resulted in thousands of dollars worth of damage. This is the third time Petros has pulled through for me in an emergency situation (first was a hot water heater that blew, second was for an emergency toilet repair, and now the frozen pipe situation). He even joked that he's visited so often that my fiance will think there's some hanky-panky going on!

If you're in the Somerville area, call Petros. I don't want to share him, but you'll be happy I did.

This is guy is a quality plumber. He showed up on time, in a fully loaded van and immediately recognized the problem. I had a leaking faucet valve and needed a new drain fitted, as well as a bidet installed. He had all the tools for the job and the material already in his van. Got all the work done in about an hour and gave me an estimate on some other work I want done. THIS GUY IS A REAL PLUMBER ! Hire him!

I had a situation that was more inconvenience than emergency. Called Petros on a Saturday evening...he was out of town...in the middle of schooling someone in a game of pool. Yet he took my call, diagnosed the exact problem and was at my house at 1030 that night! Felt like I was in bizarro world, this was the opposite of what usually happens.

He was quite personable and quoted an honest price. Oh yeah, he did great work too! P. Floros should be your first call.

I have called Petros twice to do two different jobs for me in my condo. The first job was a water heater replacement. Petros was very quick to respond to my call, quoted me a fair price and even installed and removed my old water heater the same day. I called him again when I needed my dishwasher replaced. Petros was very responsive to my inquiry. When it was delivered I called him up and he came again the same day. Both installations were quick and painless. Finally while Petros was out I had him look at my garbage disposal that suddenly stopped working. I thought I needed to replace it, but after taking a look Petros thought it was more of an electrical issue. He was correct, and it ended up saving me money in the end as I didn't need to replace the unit. However, if my garbage disposal does finally go, I know who to call to replace it!

Professional, prompt, and responsive.

Petros installed a pumping system in my basement to empty my constantly-running dehumidifier. He not only installed the system, he explained to me what was happening, how to keep the system in good running order, and what to expect. He double-checked the equipment, and upon finding that one piece was faulty, replaced it immediately at no charge.

I'm keeping him on file as my plumber!

True professional. Petros responded to our call late Sunday night. Showed up despite having been on the road for 6 hours. Replaced our leaky outdoor spigot within 30 min. We're having him back to replace our garbage disposal next.
