Recommended Customer Reviews
We have used this company for years but now that most of the service technicians work on commission, they are only out to sell and not find the problem. They came 4 times, about every 2 weeks, for HVAC system not working and put on new parts at least 2 of those times. The fourth technician to come out said it was a cracked heat exchanger annd need a new furnace and that should have been diagnosed on the first visit. Don't think we should be paying for unneeded parts and visits but their QA guy says we owe because we agreed to pay at each visit. Of course you agree because that's what their staff has said that is the fix. BEWARE
Tammy B.I normally don't leave bad reviews but FHAA they definitely mislead and overcharge on everything...I was told comfy club could be canceled anytime which is lie...they wanted to keep charging me $600 plus every visit....no printed bills, very vague as to what was actually done last time my bill was $1200 and they needed to order part.... meanwhile I called another company to give 2nd opinion was told that FHAA turned off my breaker to my unit I called the the Lexington office and canceled repair and told them what was found, they didn't have a problem with technician doing this I finished paying out my 11 month comfy club membership recently they literally called and left 100 messages via landline, cellphone, email, text messages in last 4 months telling me I had FREE inspection without me returning 1 call ....I don't trust them at this point....My unit hasn't missed a beat 11 months later....unnecessary repairs, they also installed my brand new units inside and out 7 years ago they were the only people that took care of it!!! Unfortunately until now don't recommend them!!!
Laura A.Two bad experiences at two different homes. Charged excessive amount $265 for reattaching a house that had come loose from the back of a heating unit. Even the guy working for them said it should have been a service call charge but ""corporate now dictates what they charge"". Another case where they tried to sell us a new unit when it didn't need it, got second opinion thank goodness. Check Nextdoor for local licensed contractors instead.
I never leave reviews but I did this time hoping maybe someone reads it and avoids being overcharged. I would not recommend Fayette Heating & air. I don't want to be all negative here. I do like how prompt they are and I've had a HVAC technician out and two plumbers. All three were respectful and I'm sure we're good guys. They all put on booties before walking in which I appreciate. The problem with Fayette Heating and air is the price. They charge a massive premium which negates how much I appreciate their techs. I usually don't read reviews because they can be overly harsh or some people leave bad reviews out of spite. TAKE HEED AND READ THE REVIEWS. Fayette Heating and Air's prices are astronomical.
The only good thing to say about Fayette Heating & Air is that they will make a service call on the weekend. Other than that, avoid this company at all costs. I accidentally called them instead of my regular, similarly named contractor for over two decades, ""Fayette *PLUMBING* and HVAC""
1. They said they'd be out in 2-4 hours, and they'd make a courtesy call on the way. Fantastic...better than I expected on a holiday weekend. HOWEVER, I was away from my phone when they made several ""courtesy call"" attempts, so they cancelled my appointment without showing up. Fortunately, when I finally checked my phone and called their dispatch, they were able to get someone out promptly. They NEVER said the courtesy call was a prerequisite for them to keep their appointment.
2. They diagnosed a pressure switch as the problem, and wanted $450 for the part alone. I told the tech I recognize a $30 switch when I see one. He tried to sell me the Comfy Club to get the price down to $350, and I called BS. I paid the $110 service fee, thanked him for the diagnosis, and sent him away. The next morning I bought the switch for $34 from SWH Supply and installed it myself.
All in all, the diagnosis was worth the $100 to me, but I am APPALLED at their opportunistic greed. It will be a cold Friday night in Lex before I use this company again.
We were recommended Fayette Heating and Air Conditioning (FH&A) by a co-worker at Central Baptist Hospital. We arranged to have them come by on 10/20/23 to simply perform a service check. When the tech arrived I asked that while he is under the house would he mind re-attaching the duct to the register. I have done this before and it is an easy fix. All that is involved is sliding the duct over the pipe from the register and zip tying it in place. I thought the tech would do it free or a nominal charge since it is so simple.
The tech met with me after checking the furnace. He created an invoice that totaled $671.00. He said, ""however, if you join our service plan at $12.95/month we'll knock off 20% which puts the bill to $560.00."" At first the service of $12.95 per month sounded good. So I agreed to it. He then went out back to finish his inspection of the A/C condenser. The more I thought about the more the service check was ridiculously high. I went to where the tech was looking at the A/C and asked him how much did re-attaching the flexible duct to the register add to the bill. He showed me his I-Pad that showed a price of $310.00 to install a duct. Keep in mind that is just to slide the end of a flexible duct over a pipe and zip tying it in place. I called other services and got a price of just a service check between $45 and $90. They also said they would attach the duct to the register free of charge. Keep in mind FH&A only attached a duct to a register and did a service check with recommendations and was charges over $600. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS.
They really sucks. I have been their member for three years. They are always half an hour late for their appointment, trying to persuade you to get new add-on part and charging you a lot of money. But once you are just 15 minutes late, they will cancel your appointment. Their service representative Julie is really rude and keep accusing me as the problem.
ZERO STARS- We joined the comfort club a couple years ago and every time they would come out they would try to sell us something and were 4 times the price of other companies. we had an inspection when selling our house, we called them to come out and look at one thing that new homeowner was wanted to get check. This turned into a total inspection of everything we had already known and then when we asked them to cut it down to exactly what the inspector wanted, we were called a liar in the email. I have never been so embarrassed and offended by a company in my life. NEVER US THEM!
I genuinely hate to write this because no one, and I mean absolutely no one, had been a FHAC customer longer than I had. My father was good friends with Al Melrose, the founder of the company, and I am still friends with his son Bret. I wouldn't have dreamed of letting anyone else touch my systems - spanning 4 separate houses in Lexington over 40 years. Hell, I even made a TV commercial with them! But after the buy out that all has changed, and drastically so. Service techs try to upsell at every opportunity. Commitments are no longer kept. Estimates were 25% higher than any of their competitors, and we were members of the so-called ""Comfy Club"". Employee turnover must be incredible, since we had 5 different techs assigned to our account over the past 24 months. Combine that with ""first time fix"" being non-existent, and after having seven visits in under a month on the same system, I finally pulled the proverbial plug and left.
In my opinion, without the conscience, character and integrity of the Melrose family setting the example, this company is badly lacking in any positive business traits. How very, very sad.
I hate that I have to write this review. I have always been pleased with the service Fayette Heating & Air has done with my home the past 17 years. But I am no longer a loyal customer and I am deeply disappointed in their service. I had a brand new AC system installed 2 years ago. The year it was installed, it wasn't cooling well. They came out and topped off the refrigerant and it worked fine that summer. Last year it wasn't cooling well and they topped off the coolant and it worked fine all summer. This year, it wasn't cooling well and they said they found a leak in the line outside and would repair it and replace the refrigerant. and charged me $1,078!!! $69 to repair the line and the rest to suck out the old refrigerant and pump in new refrigerant. Can't believe they made me pay for something they should have fixed when they installed it. Disappointing when companies don't back their work.
