Requested an estimate for a tankless hot water heater install.
They were over two hours late for the appointment, and when the guy finally showed up he didn't even make a half-hearted attempt. He just asked what other plumbers had told me and didn't bother looking at the existing piping, etc.
Kent C.Excellent and responsive service. Great technician. Replaced a hot water heater element when he could have replaced the entire heater.
I wish I would have compared prices before moving forward with Ernies. I do feel I got ripped off and believed I could of got it done for a lower price. It went from $350 to $800. I just needed a toilet and valve replaced which cost me almost $800 and a big hole in my wall. It's definitely not worth it and I do not recommend this place.
Christopher T.My previous experiences with Ernie's were excellent, so I called them when I saw water pooling in front of my house. The technician told me that I had a "slab leak", and that it would be necessary to punch numerous holes inside my house in order to pressure test each line, then bypass it. The estimate came to over $3000, plus the cost of patching the resulting holes. Two things struck me as very suspicious: He said he may have to punch holes on the second floor (for a leak outside??), and that I should schedule the repair as soon as possible. I scheduled, then cancelled in order to get a second opinion.
I called a plumber who was recommended to me. He told me that the leak could be found with a single pressure test that would not require any HOLES. He quickly found the leak (outside) and charged me approximately $300 to repair it. The Ernie's plumber would have overcharged me thousands, and left gaping holes in my home.
Bernie D.I have used them several times. They always let you know what you have to pay up front. Martin did my job last, I will ask for him again.
Unfortunately, YELP doesn't allow for a NEGATIVE STAR RATING. We have used Ernie's in the past and found something very interesting. REGARDLESS of the work they are to do, the estimate is always the same! There was a leak under the house and they quoted 3700.00 to repair, then came down to 3000.00. The house is pier and beam so not a lot of room to get around under there. The first guy they sent was too fat to fit under the house so they sent another. The first guy didn't leave, NOW WE HAVE TWO! We asked if the job was charged by the hour or the job and were told BY THE JOB! To me, that means, it doesn't matter if there is one plumber or ten, shouldn't have any bearing on final price. When the insurance company learned what was charged for the work, the said it shouldn't have cost more than 1500.00. Ernie's gave us a 400.00 refund. No mind you, these two plumbers destroyed the vinyl flooring in one room, poked holes in vents under the house and didn't move a single thing back in place when they finished. They were here two days for a TOTAL of six hours. Ernie's said it wasn't his fault they had to send two plumbers. Well, beg to differ. When the first guy didn't fit, WHY DID HE HAVE TO STAY? WHY DOES IT TAKE TWO PLUMBERS AND TWO AND A HALF HOURS TO DRIVE 15 MILES TO GET GLUE? WHY DID THEY LEAVE A LONG PVC PIPE STICKING OUT OF THE VENT UNDER THE HOUSE? While the two guys at the house were very nice, they were NOT very honest. They told us it didn't matter there were two of them but sure mattered to billing at Ernie's. Bottom line, ERNIE'S ARE NOT AN HONEST COMPANY! They took advantage of a widow in a small town and didn't think twice about it. BEFORE YOU HAVE ERNIE'S DO THE REPAIR, GET A SECOND OPINION!
I don't care if the house is flooding and water is lapping at my nose - I'll NEVER call Ernie's again! I'D RATHER DROWN!
Cyndy L.Couldn't have asked for better service and quick too! Called on a Monday morning with a busted faucet that wouldn't stop running. They were out in 1 hour. Michael did the repair and was done in less than 90 minutes. Will definitely use them again!
I was very disappointed in way they do business. Have used before but this time it was different. Maybe they have 'gone big business' approach with clients. Will not use again. Young guy who came to fix clogged sink and price out some plumbing work was nice and informative.......however quotes got very outrageous. After they left I checked cost for what the average is for water heater replacement. Their quote was almost triple what it should cost. Apples to apples. Toilet flapper issue, would have been, $175. Quote for stopped sink, $185.
The gentleman fixed my clogged sink (I was thinking OK, I will pay $50 more than what it should probably cost out of being anxious to fix with company at house). Decided to bite off on reworking pipes......(In reality just a couple of short pipes).........took about 30 min. No supplies on truck so runs to store........20 min.....So all in all he was here about 90 min.
Cost $325......with $25 off. Bill would have been $350 if I had not seen coupon.
Buyer beware. I will look for a good handyman plumber or local plumber without foot in the door techniques next time.

John H.Mike B. gave excellent service, was kind to family members, and comes highly recommended. Ernie's is the best. I saw the very, very bad reviews on Yelp, but Ernie's magnet card was on my daughter's fridge, so tried it anyway. Glad I did.
William T.Had a toilet that was stopped up and no amount of plunging would totally free it. Technician Chas came out and did the snake deal and open and free flowing. Well about a week later the same problem. Chas did a follow up and could not free it as well. He offered no charge to go back to shop and get a video camera to try to see the cause. Well, to no surprise to me, it was loaded with roots. Chas gave some options, but the only one guaranteed to work was to replace the portion of sewer line that was allowing roots to enter. Not a fun option. $2350. Ouch. Told him I was going to see what my homeowners would do. Chas did not give me much hope as he has been through this "rodeo" many times. Long story short Chas and I worked on the wording of the problem. Well, Nationwide approved the work, and even mentioned that the quote was extremely reasonable for the work entailed to go through the floor. They just did not pay for the actual replacement of the sewer pipe. No big deal, the cost was minimal compared getting to the problem and putting it all back. It was not an easy job. I guess the slab was at least a foot thick. Well the first day he was only able to get through the slab. The next day he fixed the pipe and recemented the floor. About 3 days later when floor had cured he set the toilet. That was a special job, since the original builder did not have it connected directly to the floor and it was tilted. Chas said don't worry he would correct that problem. I think that took a couple of extra hours. Okay all done everything put back and now for the real reason for this long review.
When he first started the job I asked if he would check another toilet that rocked a little when sitting on it. Therefore when finished he looked at the other toilet and realized the problem. Same as the other toilet, not directly attahed to slab. Well this isn't insurance stuff so we knew we would have to bite the bullet. I did mention to Chas we had another technician from Ernie's, over a year ago, pull the toilet to see where the leak was coming from. Chas said he would look into that. About 30-40 minutes later he told us, their people should not have reset the toilet the way it was, and Ernie's was going to fix it at NO CHARGE to us. Whoa, what just happened. They could have easily not said boo and we would have paid. That is why I had to send this review. Also a big thank you to Chas and a big thanks to the adjuster for Nationwide.
Interesting note. After asking Chas, he told us he has been working for Ernie's over four years. We like Chas so much we wanted him to let us know if he went to work elsewhere or on his own to let us know how to reach him. He said that was not going to happen. He likes very much working for this company. A good sign if their people like their employer. Definately a 5 star rating.
