In 2009, Environmental Works came into existence by a pair of passionate Environmental Scientists, Matthew Lowrance and Joel Migliaccio. Their goal was to build a fully integrated environmental services firm that could successfully oversee various environmental projects from evaluation to completion.
Our founders' integration philosophy has helped countless property owners, realtors, developers, contractors, and lenders to obtain the best value in key environmental services without compromising on reliability and service quality.
Matthew has accumulated over 18 years of experience in environmental services across public and private sectors. He specializes in ecology, environmental site assessments, stormwater management, regulatory compliance, and managing construction projects. For three years, he served as a Natural Resource Specialist with the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
Joel is both an environmental scientist and a general contractor. With a combined experience of over 15 years in environmental sciences and construction project management, he knows what clients require when they present a challenge to our team. He specializes in sustainable building methods, stormwater management, and freshwater ecology.

Maika M.Nathan was very friendly and helpful with explaining the radon mitigation process and was clearly passionate about what he does. I look forward to working with this company and will write another review after the work is complete!
What kind of company would set up a radon test, place a note on the front door to keep doors and windows closed... and leave several windows open? Yes, you guessed right. This very own Environmental Works company. We had to call them to restart the test.
Corey K.I cannot say enough about how smooth the entire Environment Works process was for having my kitchen sink drain issue resolved! From their professionalism when I called in, text updates with the technician's name and when he'd arrive, and his expertise (9 years experience), fair pricing, and resolution of an issue that's been plaguing me for over a year!
I wasted hundreds previously on a plumber that said a snake could do what hydro-jetting would accomplish (total lie, by the way). The Environmental Works tech even scoped the popes after so I could see for myself how clean everything was!
We did not have a good experience with this company. The workers were not careful, left a mess and tools. Created an oil spill while removing oil lines. We were billed for the entire amount, long after they had cashed our payment in full. Received an adjusted bill still stating we should pay an additional amount. Had to send them an email from their own manager outlying what he said the work would cost to ensure the bill would be corrected. Wondered why they are not communicating with each other in the company to get the customer taken care of.
Alli M.My hard-earned advice to you: Do yourself a big favor and hire Cascade Radon for your radon mitigation project. I wish I had. Everyone I dealt with there was incredibly helpful, super professional, and went waaaay above and beyond when I consulted with them to fix the issues created by Environmental Works. If I could go back and hire them in the first place, I would in a heartbeat.
Environmental Works' project technicians and office staff were fine to deal with - I'm afraid I can't say the same for the owner, Matt, and his radon foreman, Mark. I have never hired people for a project and been treated the way these two men treated me. Talking over me and not letting me finish speaking, raising their voices at me when frustrated, , saying things like ""I'm not going to get into a therapy session with you"" when I asked the owner how he would feel if a vendor he had hired did a shoddy job *AND* destroyed his property (the technician left a 4 X 7' oil stain on my driveway that they initially weren't going to take responsibility for, but finally did, after I threatened to go to the BBB, contractor's board, and take legal action). When I'm hiring a vendor, I want to give my money to nice people who are easy to deal with, but these two men were exceedingly unpleasant.
The work itself had problems, too. They decided to route the pipe through my bedroom closet (?!) instead of along the outside of my house and the hissing of the pipe at night in my quiet neighborhood kept me up for weeks until it was ultimately remedied. The technician also neglected to install a fire collar on the penetration between my garage and closet, which was serious safety concern.
I usually only use Yelp to write 5-star reviews for service providers who are excellent and who I want others to have the good fortune of working with. I know how important these reviews are to small businesses. That said, I don't hesitate to leave a 1-star review for Environmental Works. While you may save a little dough by hiring them, if something goes wrong, trust me, these are *not* the kind of people you want to deal with to make things right. Give your money to Cascade Radon and rest assured you'll be taken care of by a company who understands what customer service really means, end-to-end.
Booked a plumber for an easy kitchen drain unclogging. It went well and took the guy about 45 minutes. He noticed the p trap was leaking and said he could fix it easily..... an hour later he was done. Charged me $160 for about 7$ worth of parts and what would normally take about 15 minutes. Be very careful and monitor their work. Do not let them do anything without an agreed quote before. Bait and switch. The plumber was nice and respectful, but I didn't monitor all his activities and it cost me. only hire them as a last resort
They did ultimately come back and do the work on our home. We have a pretty difficult house. They needed to come back repeatedly, but it has helped.
Exceptionally professional service in every way, from scheduling by phone and showing up on time, to careful diagnosis and recommendations for service and repair. For my plumbing issue, the technician Justin took care to photograph the problem in the crawl space, explain the issue and thoroughly answer my questions, and then performed the repair providing me with updates on his progress. He was very conscientious about protecting my home interior and carpet from damage as he moved damage/old plumping out of the house. The work estimate was accurate and the price of the repair was quite fair. I will definitely give my future business to E-Works.
We used Environmental Works to receive a second opinion after Alpha Environmental quoted us with $8,000 in repairs to the sewer line at the house we are buying in the Raleigh Hills area. Environmental Works determined that Alpha Environmental had scoped the wrong pipe (Alpha scoped the storm drain instead of the sewer line). After scoping the correct sewer line, they assured us that no repairs were needed and we were all very relieved.
Environmental Works was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a sewer scope that is done right the first time!
Susan W.Update on previous comments. EW responded to my complaint with an apology and offer to pay for the sealing work I had done. Water leak was a bit of a mystery that the other companies also did not fix. My
Handyman found the leak in the pipe joint and sealed it. Thanks for responding, apologizing and offering to make it right.
