Marshall A.I was recommended to Environmental Works and talking over the phone I thought everything was going to go perfectly.... Man was I wrong... First we had a 'miscommunication' on the scheduling of services. They thought I wanted to know the location of a buried oil tank (which due to exhaust vents I knew exactly where it was) but what I really wanted was soil samples to make sure the tank hadn't leaked. So when they showed up and I asked about the soil samples the tech was clueless. He said he was not notified samples were to be taken and in order to take samples they have to have Locate come out first.... So after talking to the manager (Dave), he said he could rush to have the soil samples done and they would be completed by Thursday (The day the building addendum had to be submitted). When the manager sent the contract it did not include a date when the results would be given, since time was of the essence I requested to have a date added the contract. The manager sent an email back stating they do not put dates in contracts but promised the results would be back by Thursday (Still have that email). Thursday came and went with *NO* call or email from Environmental Works. Finally on Friday afternoon *I* called multiple times to try and get the results. I reached the manager and I ask what happened to getting the results on Thursday. He stated, due to traffic and other things we were unable to get the results on Thursday. I asked, so why didn't I get a call/email from you telling me about the situation. He responded, why didn't you call us. Then I proceed to ask, am I going to be charged for this. He said, yes the services were completed. I said, but you promised me I would get the results on Thursday when I needed them. He said, it was not in the contract. After more back and forth, I told him I did not feel comfortable paying for services that were not completed when promised with no phone call informing me of the situation. Manager did not like that so I had to threaten contacting the credit card company to refuse payment, and he said unfortunately I cannot agree with you and if you refuse to pay I will not be sending results to you. Moral of the story is the results are still being withheld from me and Environmental Works *DOES NOT* care about making right with their customers at all... My agent and listing agent are both infuriated by the way I was treated and will be distributing my story to all their agents to make sure Environmental Works is not used anymore!
Worst company ever. They underbid to get jobs and then charge you after they start the work, where as a client you have no leverage, because your yard is torn and the sewer lines are disconnected. I bought a house and went with them for the sewer line repair. Estimator was clueless and under bid to get the job and then charged me 60% more than the quoted rate, I wish I would have never ever gone with such an unethical company as Environmental Works. Please stay away from these guys.
When I tested our basement area with a short-term test, the results came in around 6 pCi/L. This concerned me greatly since that particular area of the house was occupied. I called several abatement companies and received a few quotes and selected EW based on Yelp reviews, pricing, and warranty.
The installers did the work in one day and had the ventilation unit purring quietly, completely contained on the outside of the house with nothing inside other than an electrical connection. All communication with the staff was concise, timely, and professional.
We performed a 4 month long-term radon test after installation and the results came back as less than 0.4 pCi/L so I'd call that a success! Originally, I was concerned about noise or some bulky fan inside the house but neither were true. In fact, the fan is outside and extremely quiet.
Choose EW, you won't be disappointed.
Portland BDS required us to get a sewer scope done. ENW gave us a great price (including applying a coupon I didn't even know about), the guy was early, and he was very friendly. He did a thorough job, explaining everything I needed to know, and made the process enjoyable.
The City of Portland required us to get a sewer scope done. Someone recommended Environmental Works to us. Scheduling the scope was painless. Our man showed up on time, IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR SNOW STORM!!! Also, it took me a while to remember where the main ""access"" was on our house, and he was VERY patient with us. Then, when we heard the total...we were shocked. It seemed too low a price for all the time and attention we had been given. We were totally pleased on all levels:)
Mike Runyan - was so prompt and timely that I missed the first time he came out to a proposed investment property to preform a sewer scope. He meet with the Seller's realtor who let him in to check water flow. Personally, I wanted to be present, so Mike took additional time out of his day as there was a slight communication error and came back to the property within 20min to perform a second scope and explain to me exactly what he was seeing. I really appreciate the hard work and professionalism of Mike Runyan and plan to recommend his service in the future to all friends and family.
Not what I hoped for; Honestly. I did some price comparisons - unfortunately AFTER
they did the work. I could have done MUCH better with either of the other contractors, for the actual work performed. Not so much dissing their honesty, but the things they should have known about as contractors could fill volumes, and ended up costing me a lot! NOT HAPPY
I was disappointed by the destruction of my landscaping after Environmental Works removed an oil tank on a property I recently bought. They did not give me an opportunity to save the mature and valuable plants that were a special part of the landscape. Furthermore they hauled away part of my sidewalk without communicating to me about whether I wanted it or not. I did not feel that they were interested in doing careful/mindful business. My impression is that they were in a hurry to make their money.
Marcos W.In the process of buying a home and had the folks at Environmental Works do sewer scope, oil tank locate, and radon inspections, to make sure we knew what we were getting in to. Not only were they flexible with scheduling, but the crew that came out on inspection day were friendly and did a great job of talking me through the details of their inspection results. Even the office staff, who took care of billing, were so personable and friendly. While I know that this isn't extensive experience with the company, this first impression was wonderful, and they're on our short list if we need future work done on our home!
Environmental Works recently completed a radon test and mitigation system install at my home in NE Portland.
Joel and his team was punctual, friendly, and thorough. They did good work. The radon reduction system is quiet and made a minimal impact on the appearance of my home.
I also was impressed their contract is straightforward and provides reassuring guarantees.
