A few weeks ago, I bought into the $129 service which included cleaning the coils and other parts. I have two A/C systems so paid the cost and signed up for two more visits before December 2024. The total cost was about $550.00.

Last week two roofers were up in the attic preparing for a roof placement and found one system had its cover pieces totally open. I was losing cold air like a sieve. They said it appeared that the Elmer's tech could have easily seen the problem. I have no idea why this was not addressed.

I request that the money I paid for the two followup visits be returned to me. I am not impressed with Elmer's. FORGET THE HYPE!

To begin with, I placed a service call at exactly 7:04 AM on Saturday June 8, 2024 to have our commode innards replaced. The noise was a bit loud and so I asked if they would come over and replace the inside of the commode. The person taking the appointments told me that they would send out a technician to service the situation and correct the problem. Well, that was at 7:04 AM and by 2:50 PM no-one ever showed or called to let me know when the tech would come by. I decided to call and see if they were going to come by or what the situation was. Low-and- behold, the tech had me on his next queue. Then, about 5 minutes later he calls to inform me that he was real busy and that he can come out on Sunday at 12:00 PM. What kind of service is that?? I decided to call a more reputable company (that I have done business before) and sure enough they came within an hour after I called and finished the job about thirty minutes after they got here. Never again am I going to call a place whose owner calls himself Elmer Fudd. BIG TIP: Mr. Elmer (or Elmer Fudd or whatever you call yourself today), stop with the commercials and pay attention to your customers and you'll have more happy customers.

My home AC stopped working overnight and I called this company to come out and repair my issue. They are the "new guy in town" and I thought I'd give them a shot based on the radio advertising.

I have a 13-year-old AC system. After the "technician" did everything he did, including lots of pictures, he went out to his van and sat there for exactly one hour. What he was doing for an hour, who knows. When he finally returned to my house, he showed me many pictures and started laying out several plans with monthly payments. I told him I was not interested in his payment plans and I wanted to know what it would take to get me up and running NOW. He said he would need a senior technician for that because my compressor was out.

Payments... Turn to Senior Technician... It felt a lot like buying a car (you have to talk to the sales manager). I got the "senior technician" scheduled to come to the house later in the day. I did not feel good about my interactions with the initial salesman/technician.

I called another company, and they evaluated my system, and it WAS NOT the compressor. It was a capacitor. MUCH DIFFERENT ISSUE.

I cannot recommend Elmer's and will not be calling them in the future.

When you are caregivers for elderly parents you need a reliable AC System during the Texas summers. So we replaced our ageing 15 yr old system with Elmer's high efficiency state of the art AC System. What a mistake. We have had some many AC System outages that we have bought portable window AC units to survive while waiting for repairs. The last outage it has been 11 days without the AC System during 100 degree weather. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from Elmer's as possible. They sell over priced junk and are very slow on repairs.

This company is too expensive. I don't have any problem with the quality of the repair, but the prices they charge are Highway robbery. They also quoted me $12000 for a water softener which was a ridiculous amount of money. I will never use them again or recommend them either. Elmer needs to spend less money on commercials and start charging reasonable prices.

When it comes to service after the sale don't believe the hype or the website! If I could give them less than one star I would. I paid 18k for a new AC system because I knew I needed a new one and all though I thought the price was kind of high the only way to get the service warranty I wanted was to get the package. HERE IS THE RUB, they offered me a free duct cleaning with my purchase which I never got because when they installed they never did it. I called them out to do it and they said they couldn't because my ducts were damaged so bad they could not and charged me another 1800 to fix my ducting or it would void my warranty and all they did was put their AC duct tape on it!!! Additionally over the past two years it is a constant battle to get them to come out and do their required service check to keep the warranty current. Every time I schedule a service the first thing they ask is the system running and if it's a yes then it's like well we will get to when we can because we are so busy so when I do get on the schedule they will say we will be out between xxx-xxx and they either don't show up on time like their web site and adds say and they don't call to keep you informed. I tried to inquire about their service deficiencies and got made to feel like it was my fault for bothering them while they are busy. The only reason I would call these people from now on is that I spent 18k for a AC with warranty and I will DANG well get it out of them.

Do not trust this company or let them into your home. I called for Elmers for repairs on a malfunctioning A/C system. I have a third party complete parts and warranty policy on the system and was adamant, before they came out, that I intended to use this warranty and my expectation was that Elmers would work with this policy. From the start they misrepresented themselves and never stated that they would not work with the warranty until they had completed repairs. This is fraud.
When they arrived they incorrectly diagnosed the problem as a leaky freon pipe. The repair involved recharging the system with freon and injecting a chemical that would seal the leak. I was told this was a permanent solution.
The system malfunctioned two days later in the same manner it had before, and Elmer's was called out again and the second Elmer's representative told me the chemical that was put into the system was only temporary. He compared it to "fix-a-flat". Essential I had paid $1,200 for a repair I was told would be permanent for a temporary fix. Again, this is fraud. Elmer's misdiagnosed the problem, lied about the nature of the repair, and as I found out later, never made any attempt to research if this repair would be covered by the policy.

The second Elmer's representative told me it might be the capacitor. I know for a fact this is covered by my warranty, so I told them to contact the warranty company and get the part. I don't know that they ever did, but they replaced the capacitor. It was a challenging conversation because the Elmer's techs are hyper focused on upselling and offering additional services. It's difficult to know what is fixing the problem, and what is them trying to "pad" the bill.

The capacitor did not fix the problem, this was their second mis-diagnosis of the issue with the system. They did however recommend cleaning the ducts, not realizing that I had paid Elmer's just a few months earlier to to exactly that. Was their work shoddy or was this more upselling? It's hard to know with this company.

The third Elmer's representative came and discovered yet another different problem. I appreciate this man, because he was the first to finally admit that Elmer's had no intention of ever working with my warranty. The only way they would complete this repair was if I paid them. At this point I realized the people at Elmer's were dishonest and would not likely do the right thing and return my money. I was no longer allowing these scammers into my home.

This company appears to thrive on upselling, overcharging, and lying. If you need repairs, don't let their marketing fool you, Elmer's are not the good guys.

System recharge by Elmers was going to cost 3x what my previous A/C company charged. So I said no way, and found a local company that did the same work for 1/7 of what Elmers was going to charge. Just be aware. Also... Elmers was at my home for nearly four hours. The company that got my system cooling? They were here for 30 minutes.

*note added 6/3/2024*: Also note that yes, Elmers did an extensive system evaluation (which cost me the service visit fee) complete with pictures and said they'd send the whole "report" to me so I could look at my options with my wife, and figure out what we wanted to do (they never sent me ANYTHING). The gold option (or whatever they called it) was to spend like $32,000 on a full system upgrade. Of course, the only numbers I was shown were the monthly payments, and I had to have them switch the view to the "total" costs. I felt like I was at a car dealership in my own home, especially when the tech at my house called "one of the head guys" and had the three of us all on speaker.

Not at all what their radio commercials implied. But they sure made it a point that they could work with the pricing. That should tell you *everything* you need to know.

Mark was on time and was very knowledgeable about what issues we had and gave us information on what is fine and what didn't need repair. Mark also helped drain some water that we had near the unit in the house and helped save us some money that way. Highly recommend giving these guys a call!

DO NOT believe the hype!

Had them come out to check a/c because compressor was not coming on. Investigated and checked everything, drains, ducts, filters, indoor unit and outdoors. After a laundry list of services that I needed, including a new outdoor unit the quote was 12K+. They were the second company I had come out because the first on only spent 5 minutes and told me I needed a complete new system.

Had another independent company come out for another opinion. They actually spend time investigating and discovered that the electrical wire to the compressor was shorted. Half hour later everything is working just fine.

Elmers says one thing in their ads but once they are there it's upsell, upsell and more upsell.

Techs are only interested is selling, not actually repairing. very disappointing.

This review is of their Dallas operation but based on some of the reviews it looks systemic.
