He came just 30 minutes after I called, was efficient and professional. Great service.

Terrible ... too expensive. Just heads UP before you use these guys.
I had main water line joint (PVC joint) cracked and leaked on 8/19/10. Called Drain Doctor for estimate, and one guy showed up 1 hour late and gave me the quote $980 for 5 or 6 hours job. Wondering for 5 or 6 hours job ??? Just needed to dig around 1 feet away for joint replacement. Joint was above the ground. Then, I refused the job and called Roto Rooter for the service. They came about 15 min before the scheduled time and waited for me. And, they gave me the quote of $171.75 (only 1 HOUR job as Minimum work + material). What a difference !!!
Completed the job with Copper joint (for more durability) with Roto Rooter and paid as quoted.
I just called Drain Doctor and asked how it could be that much different on the same job - they just kept saying they have to check with the technician and no apology.
WATCH out and Stay Away from Drain Doctor for your plumbing work.
I really want to grade ZERO star on the Rating.

I called because some one dropped a deodorant stick in my toilet and man was it stuck. They said it would be about 45 minutes until they arrived & they were right. The technician was very polite, he finished the job in about 40 minutes or so. He cleaned up very well after everything was finished.I was quoted $245. to fix and it was the same at the end of the job.
I know with pluming company's it can be a hit or miss. This time for me was a hit.
Thank you Drain Doctor!!

I called drain doctor, after I got home from work, there was a small water leak outside & also inside my garage. The service tech came out within an hour and gave me a quote. The service tech went out and got the part, came back about 1 hr later, told me the job would take approx 3 hrs. Since it was late I asked if he could come out the next day @ 6:00 pm, he came @ 7:00pm. He replaced the regulator, took him less than 3 hrs. He was very knowledgeable, polite & professional & cleaned up after himself. job well done!

THEY WILL TRY TO RIP YOU OFF.
When the main pipe clogged up I called Drain Doctor for help. Jose came to my house and was very rushed. He made up some story about how much it costs to snake the pipe from outside the house. Apparently, according to Jose, it takes $165 to snake half the house, and $240 to snake the whole house (I have two bathrooms). He even drew up a little diagram to convince me that I am not being ripped off. Well having a husband who is deployed to Iraq makes me a lot smarter, and it just didn't make sense that extending the snake a little bit more would double the price. I called up another company and got the job done for $120.

I really wish I had investigated a plumber before ""having"" to call one out of desperation. Like most of us, we call when the water is coming out of the wall or when you're on your way out the door for a trip at 4 am. I was unfortunately the 4 am traveler when my hot water feed in the kitchen burst. Needless to say i opened the phone book and called them. In the process my main shut off valve broke and i couldn't energize the water feed from the city supply and I was with out water for my home til i returned 6 days later. I booked an immediate apt for my return at 7am. I called Drain Doctors when 7 am rolled by. They said they forgot, but after being upset for being over 3 hours late i was informed a larger job ($$) took precedence and a 50 dollar discount is all I should get since most people don't make that in a day according to (Rachel - office staff) . I guess Rachel must be the owners daughter and really doesn't know how much one has to make to live and own a home in the bay area. She does however know how to schedule a higher value job at the expense of another customer that literally has not had a shower yet. It also cements how quick they were to suggest a higher value job (whole house copper bid).
I thought I was professional in my concern in how I felt I was being taken advantage of. I guess we can all agree to disagree - right Rachel! So far the work is going on as we speak (type). Oh wait he is off to home depot because he does not have the parts, even after being here and saying he would be ready for this job last week. I do want to do a copper re-plumbing bid, but I would not feel comfortable knowing that if a higher value job came around I'd be stuck here smelling myself waiting for ""Drain Doctor"" to come back and finish the job. I guess i will have to give them ""one star"" because they did stop the original leak that they came for. However I'll have to be honest, I couldn't tell you if it leaks or not because my entire house has no water yet. I will be back to rate the larger job. That's because I should have plenty of water by Noon, right? Maybe?
Alas I think John/Drain Doctor is back from buying the supplies he needed. I think I'll offer him a soda since it is warm - water is absolutely out of the question.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to give them less than one star.
Watch out for this plumber. Our main line clogs about every 5 years and did so on May 9. We had them out and they quoted $145 but agreed to do the job for $85. On May 15, we left for a week's vacation in Maui and our home was vacant until we returned on the 22nd. On the 23rd, the main line clogged again! I called them and even though they said it would be an hour before someone got here it was 2 1/2....then they wanted another $85 to unclog the drain. They claimed that our earlier discounted rate did not come with a warranty! So $85 plus $85 is $170 or more than their initial quoted rate. I sent them off and called another plumber. Cannot recommend this company.

Used these guys a few years back. Their plumber arrived at my house angry with me, the customer! He said that because of my call he wasn't able to eat dinner explaining that all their plumbers are overworked and aren't given time to eat. Then reluctantly he looks at my leaking sink and insults my plumbing, ""They stopped using this stuff years ago. I'll see what I can do."" He used a portable rip saw, chipped my sink, left his mess and charged way too much for the work and abuse. THEN, around midnight, I hear a POP and GUSH! I head into the bathroom and the work that they guy did had burst and water was gushing from the sink! Used another company and no problems.

UPDATED:
I'll NEVER do business with Drain doctor again!
The ""hydrojet"" mentioned below worked for less than a year--a possibility they warned us about. Fair enough. Hoping to put off a major expense a little longer, we had them try hydrojetting again. This time it didn't work at all. They said there were only two options:
1. Tearing up our front room (slab house).
2. Diverting it around two sides of the house. They said that this option wasn't possible. The pipe would be too long for the small grade.
In other words, the only option was ripping up our living room--not a pretty prospect. So we got a few other estimates. Caccia Plumbing in Burlingame gave us a far more attractive option: a shorter route around the house, which was FAR more convenient!
I can only assume that Drain Dr. either didn't know about that option or thought it couldn't be done--either way a sign of incompetence.
Doug.

Our kitchen sink and garage utility sink backed up several months ago. That time, the plumber (Roto-rooter) was able to snake about five feet into the line. They said that was the best they could do, but eventually the house's foundation would have to be ripped up (slab on grade house)!!!
This time, the sinks got the point where it was taking half an hour for the sink to just drain! Given what the last plumber said, I was NOT looking forward to calling another plumber.
I let my fingers do the walking and found Drain Doctor. The technician arrived on time, was friendly, and explained the worst-case scenario (a cracked pipe) in non-plumber-speak. He blasted the line with high-pressure water and THEN snaked it. He was able to clean out the entire way to the main line (about 50 feet).
Even better, he said that if just the water didn't work, he would snake it. He ended up having to snake the line, but didn't charge for that part. :)
Problem solved!

I called this place up to fix a clog and yes they fixed it and i GAVE them a check. Now usually when one accepts a check they make sure that it is for the correct amount. Our employee wrote the $225.00 on the check but miswrote the amount where you actually write it in words. HIS Fault fine I understand. Then I get a phone call saying I didn't pay them and that they're going to take me to COURT over $225?????!!!!! That's ridiculous!!!!! 225? c'mon..... So I told the lady (Christine) that she could send me back the check and I would send her a new one. But no she said I should drive all the way to Santa Clara from Oakland to give her a new check and that she didn't trust me enough to send me back my original check because she said people LIKE me like to skimp out on the bill.... Now I run good well known businesses and $225.... really? I'm Korean and these people are Korean, and its shameful and embarrassing that these people are trying to take in two checks at the same time. I hate to say this but is the reason why the Korean community is sometimes frowned upon. I hope that people refrain from doing business with these people. There are much much better and CLEANER people to do business with.
