Don't call them if you want to pay a lot of money for a small job. $195 for a leaky faucet. I wish I had looked up these previous reviews ahead of time. I called to complain and they could not have cared less, they obviously are not interested in repeat business. Will never call them again. You'll be better off looking for any other plumber.

Do not use this company! Horrible and incompetent! It took them three tries to install a single gas line to my home properly (city inspectors rejected their first two tries). The TOTALLY messed up the permitting process, so a YEAR later I had get the final inspection done with my city's department. They sent a 100 year old fart initially, who did a chicken-scratch ineligble """"engineering diagram"""" (which was inaccurate). Oh I must mention """"John"""" -- may God help you if you have to talk to this abusive lizard, on the phone or in person. He literally told me on the phone """"This is karma bitch"""" after saying all his company's failures to comply with basic gas line install codes befuddled him three times. What a joke. This company would not be in business if not for the lame monopoly they have. I have complained to the Florida BB and official FL DPBR. DO NOT EVER CALL EH WHITSON -- THE WORST!!!

ELECTRICAL THIS OLD HOUSE HOLLYWOOD HISTORIC DISTRICT : I emailed, info@ehwhitson, a photo of the defective switch, John Lipka the owner called me, said he would have to order it. Called back, set up appointment. He saved a diagnosis trip, for something he could order. Chris arrived 5 minutes early, masked up, He reviewed our entire electrical system in our 1940's Hollywood home. Was very professional and is going to quote some much needed repairs to stop our lights flickering and power outages. Described one problem is our old dimmer switches do not support the LED bulbs, and replaced switch and it worked perfectly. Perfect fit, impressed that they worked from photo. I look forward to working with a local contractor, here in Hollywood. They are also recommended by others living here. Great instant communication, professional, COVID aware, technically proficient, and personable.

Whitson ATTEMPTED TO WAY OVERCHARGE me and when I questioned the figures. the representative became extremely Condescending. The scope of the job was simply added regulator connect Pool heater. The original quote was $ 865.00 I asked the following question: Q what is the hourly labor rate ? A. $165 hr. Q how much is a regulator? A. approx $ 150 . Q How many hours does it take to add the regulator and connect heater pls remember the previously installed gas line was approx 2 feet from the pool heater? The representative would not answer, but , did reduce the price quote to $695.00. I asked again approx. how long the job would take? The representative then became VERY condescending and would not answer the approx time questions. Whitson also attempted to way overcharge for extending an existing gas line to my firepit. The job entailed only extending the existing gas line (which they previously installed ) for the firepit adding 22 feet of a straight line. Not connecting the firepit only running the line in an existing code complaint trench. The Whitson quote was $1030.00 The labor at most would have been 1.5 hrs $247 thus, they were attempting to charge me over $35 afoot for the underground gas line. I suggest avoiding the bad attitude and being grossly overcharged the other quotes were vastly more competitive.

My split a/c unit stopped working. Called these people. A man came and told me the motherboard had to be replaced. I was charged $100 and had to wait two weeks for the part. A second man came, installed the board and burned the compressor and told me that """"he thought his co-worker had checked it, so that's why he did not"""" They RUINED my unit. The shop wanted to charge me $400 for the motherboard. They burnt my unit and refused to take responsibility for ruining my unit. Their solution? $3,000 for a new unit. Never again, i will consider them, not even to touch my toilets. And neither should anybody else

E.H. Whitson Plumbing has been around for a long time - since 1936, according to their website. I had used them several times since 2003 and they USED to be really great about coming out on short notice for an emergency - they unplugged my garbage disposal on Christmas day once! I'd also used them when I remodeled my bathroom in 2010 to move the sink to the corner. But last night I got home from work to find a swimming pool in my kitchen. Water was oozing out from under the cabinets, but not in them. This had happened a year and a half ago and they brought a leak detection guy, then they broke through the outer wall to repair the leak. Total bill: $90! That's why I called them back last night, but found they have a new phone number, and a special voice mail box for """"emergencies"""". I left two messages there, and now, 14 hours later, I STILL have not heard back from them. I don't know what happened, but I'm not getting any response from them at all. Granted, it's Saturday, but nobody from Whitson has called me back. I had no choice but to call someone else. Unfortunately, that earned them a meager 2 star rating from me. UPDATE: They called 2 days later, told me that I had the wrong number (the one that had been programmed into my phone for 5 years?), AND that the emergency number on their website was also incorrect (THIS IS MY FAULT???). But the worst of it was that the man I spoke with said he had NO RECORD OF ME AS A CLIENT... like I said above, I'd used them for years! I had rented out my house while we were out of state taking care of my elderly mother, and they came out several times when my tenants had problems. I even had my credit card on file with them so they could take care of any emergency while I was away. Before I left, they even installed my tankless gas hot water heater (summer of 2010). I don't know if they changed owners, but they insisted they had no record of me as ever being their client. We exchanged several e-mails and still they said I had not been their client. It was all very bizarre so I have no choice but to give them a horrible ONE star rating - for really lousy customer service. UPDATE 10/2012: To add insult to injury, my next door neighbor, who had also used Whitson for years, moved away and rented out his house, hiring me as the property manager. When I called Whitson to come unplug a drain in the house next door, they didn't have any record of my neighbor ever being their client either! I truly suspect that the old owners must have sold the business and the new owners didn't want any of the existing clientele - baffling to say the least! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

I needed a job in my bathroom. Whitson was supposed to come """"tomorrow 1-4 pm"""". I would get a call half-hour earlier. They did NOT show up, nor call at all, making me waste most of the day. (I recall I had a similar incident with them a few years ago, but now that I was a regular plumbing/electricity/AC customer I would have thought they would behave more responsibly.)

EH WHITSON is a company that goes above and beyond at every call. when making an apt for a checkup on my system they quickly sent a tech to diag the problem. The tech explained while he could make some sort of repair, the unit was nearing the end of its useable life and would soon need a replacement. Being in south Florida, AC is essential, and unfortunately the ac units have a short life span due to ocean salt air corrosion which is what it is. I priced out several different companies for a new unit against the quote they gave for a new ac unit and EH WHITSON was very competitively priced. Decided I will be going with them. I spoke with them and about some of the mixed reviews I read on here and they explained that residential customers are very hard to please, compared to a lot of their big commercial customers who are easy to work with and understand when minor hiccups happen. Out of the 6 AC companies I called, and 2 I actually talked to, EH Whitson was the quickest to respond and actually get a good tech out to me. A company that actually returns your calls?!?! Who would have thought! Take the other reviews lighlty, the experience with them was very much worth it!
