Had another a/c company come out for my annual maintenance check and the guy could not believe the huge hole left above the unit intake in the closet that should have been sealed up to prevent the warm air and dirt from going into the air system. I contacted whitson before the 1 year coverage ended and they blew me off and lied to me about calling me back, they had no intention. Both of their Techs checked the system and said nothing so I doubt they are well trained. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

Came home Thursday afternoon, A/C unit was a solid block of ice. Called and left a message after hours to set up an appointment and sure enough, received a phone call by the friendly and professional staff by 7 am the next day asking if 8:30 am would work for me! Sean showed up, and within a short amount of time was able to determine the issue, replacement cost, and labor. It was agreeable, and I paid by cc and left the job to him. Now, here is where my 5 star rating, and review, is justified. You see, I've known John the owner for a number of years, and although the opportunity to use his company hadn't been there since I've known him, I cold called the business to repair the unit. Upon returning, I discovered the job had turned out to need two technicians and involved quite a bit of more labor than anticipated-definitely more than the estimate I was given. Was a pleasant surprise to be told, """"nope, we quoted you a price and that's what the price is. We stand by it."""" Sean, the second tech Mike, stayed on the job until the job was done and done right. Also met the Supervisor (sorry, the name escaped me) who stopped by to check on the now complicated job. Wonderful professionalism. I looked over the unit after they departed and I was impressed with the care they took and work product they produced. Overall, very pleased with the company. John, your employees are a reflection of your business, and they are representing your brand well.

I'm writing this review on behalf of my mother who doesn't use Facebook. She has been a customer of Whitson for many many years and never had complaints. Six months ago she had a new compressor put in and was charged a fortune, I called around and there were cheaper places but she wanted to go with the company she trusted. After Irma, her house had no power for a week. When it came on, the AC turned on and it blew warm air, and the outside piece was not coming on. She called Whitson to come out yesterday, and when she told the man that the outside piece was not turning on, he spent almost 2 hours inside looking at the inside piece. Nothing wrong(which she already knew). Then he went outside and proceeded to tell her the compressor needed to be replaced. The same one she paid a fortune for 6 months ago. When she told him that HE WAS THE ONE WHO PUT IT IN, he said nothing, and when he gave her the bill she said no way, she will talk to manager. This morning the manager informed her that the work was guaranteed for 90 days only, she was responsible for the whole payment, but they could do it tomorrow. She hung up on him, understandably. After all these years, they treat a valued customer that way. I called a friend of mine who is in the AC business, he went out an hour ago and looked at it for 30 seconds. He said the compressor was fine. Needed to release some pressure from the outside unit, which he did, and my mom has had cold AC the past hour. Didn't charge her a penny. Seems to me that Whitson has changed over the years and is now out for a buck any way they can, even to a senior citizen living on a very fixed budget. Shame on you. Nobody in our family or our friends will be calling you again. Crooks!!!

E.H. Whitson Plumbing has been around for a long time - since 1936, according to their website. I had used them several times since 2003 and they USED to be really great about coming out on short notice for an emergency - they unplugged my garbage disposal on Christmas day once! I'd also used them when I remodeled my bathroom in 2010 to move the sink to the corner. But last night I got home from work to find a swimming pool in my kitchen. Water was oozing out from under the cabinets, but not in them. This had happened a year and a half ago and they brought a leak detection guy, then they broke through the outer wall to repair the leak. Total bill: $90! That's why I called them back last night, but found they have a new phone number, and a special voice mail box for """"emergencies"""". I left two messages there, and now, 14 hours later, I STILL have not heard back from them. I don't know what happened, but I'm not getting any response from them at all. Granted, it's Saturday, but nobody from Whitson has called me back. I had no choice but to call someone else. Unfortunately, that earned them a meager 2 star rating from me. UPDATE: They called 2 days later, told me that I had the wrong number (the one that had been programmed into my phone for 5 years?), AND that the emergency number on their website was also incorrect (THIS IS MY FAULT???). But the worst of it was that the man I spoke with said he had NO RECORD OF ME AS A CLIENT... like I said above, I'd used them for years! I had rented out my house while we were out of state taking care of my elderly mother, and they came out several times when my tenants had problems. I even had my credit card on file with them so they could take care of any emergency while I was away. Before I left, they even installed my tankless gas hot water heater (summer of 2010). I don't know if they changed owners, but they insisted they had no record of me as ever being their client. We exchanged several e-mails and still they said I had not been their client. It was all very bizarre so I have no choice but to give them a horrible ONE star rating - for really lousy customer service. UPDATE 10/2012: To add insult to injury, my next door neighbor, who had also used Whitson for years, moved away and rented out his house, hiring me as the property manager. When I called Whitson to come unplug a drain in the house next door, they didn't have any record of my neighbor ever being their client either! I truly suspect that the old owners must have sold the business and the new owners didn't want any of the existing clientele - baffling to say the least! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO CLUE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Terrible customer service, they have been a nightmare to deal with! Cancelled a service appointment without calling me first (I'd taken time off of work to wait) and then reassured me that I'd be the first call of the day when I rescheduled. Didn't happen, and I had to call again to ask that they send someone out. Absolutely zero attention to customer service and satisfaction, was told """"we had an emergency in a restaurant and that's our priority"""". I would not recommend this company.

E H Whitson AC , plumbing and electric has been providing excellent, efficient service to us for about 5 years. The staff has always been professional, yet warm and friendly. They actually arrive at the promised time, work quickly and keep you informed of what they are doing along the way. In 2008 they installed new AC compressors, ductwork and provided helpful advise about the most efficient use of the system. They have repaired a refrigerator, installed a dishwasher and done plumbing work for us over the years; we have been 100% satisfied with every transaction. The owner of EH Whitson, John Lipka, has shown his commitment to the community by his frequent, generous donations of service and supplies to various charitable organizations. John's contributions to the Hollywood Women's club have helped to insure the success of the restoration of the 1927 clubhouse, which is a National Historic Site and a Hollywood Landmark. Many of my friends also call EH Whitson whenever the need arises. I have never heard anything but praise for this company. Shelly deMarco

I called on Sunday at 9am because my hot water heater was leaking badly in my garage. I was connected to the 'emergency plumbing' line and had to leave a message for the person on call. My call was returned at 7am THE NEXT MORNING. Had I depended on Whitson service my garage would be under water. Very poor customer service.

you need to stay away form this company. We hired them on the recommendation of Teco gas to install a pool heater and tank less water heater. They did not pass inspection on anything the first go around on the Plumbing or Electrical . After they told me to go pay the re inspection fee they would come back I told them no , Its was there fault they did not pass inspection.. So they paid the fee to the city and the inspector came out again, HA HA the plumbing passed and the Electrical failed. Called again and they said they would take care of it. They called me back and said it was done and they got the approval. Now a month later the Pool heater will not work because their electrician blew the 2000.00 unit and I called the city for permit information and they lied when they said the permit was closed. Now they want 95 per hour plus parts to fix what they messed up. Guess I have to go to court on this one STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

Don't call them if you want to pay a lot of money for a small job. $195 for a leaky faucet. I wish I had looked up these previous reviews ahead of time. I called to complain and they could not have cared less, they obviously are not interested in repeat business. Will never call them again. You'll be better off looking for any other plumber.
