Normally I won't review a business until I've had at least two interactions with them, but I think for emergency-plumbing needs we can agree that one is enough.

I had a water shut-off valve go sideways in the guest bathroom and the hot water go out.(Yeah terrible luck) The toilet was running and the valve wouldn't fully shut off the water supply. Older plumbing in this house built in the early 1900s(Victorian Home)

So I checked Yelp and a couple other sources for recommendations on plumbers more local to my area. I couldn't see myself calling any of the plumbing contractors who advertise on the radio, and I was hoping a more local plumber who offered 24-hour emergency service would also be able to make the service call sooner.

The dispatcher(Michelle) who was very friendly willingly to assist me, immediately connected me to the on-call plumber (Albert) who talked through potential scenarios with me. He guided me through checking a number of common causes of leaks, and then, when we decided the tank probably needed replacing. He was able to bring everything he needed with him after I texted him a photo(Tech Savy plumbers :]) of the water heater and did an inspection before beginning. Then he told me exactly how much it would be and wrote out an itemized list that I signed.

Albert, was fast, professional, and courteous.

I'm glad I found Economy Plumbing on Yelp, because the total time from valve break and water heater to finished repair was under 2 hours.(Usually at least a 4 hour job altogether, WOW!). Well worth the emergency-service fee to have the peace of mind so quickly.

I have been using Economy Plumbing now for 5 years and would use no one else!!! I am now writing a review, because i want to specify the outstanding service of Tony. He in the BEST PLUMBER I have ever used in my life!! He came out to service my clogged shower and toilet. He not only solved that problem, but made sure that my other toilet was not affected by the clog (he determined that they were running on separate sewer lines). He was very clear on what he was doing and gave me an estimate that was spot on!!! If you want a full service plumber that is true to his word-THIS IS THE GUY!!!!

I called in for a Kitchen Clog and I wanted to get this issue FIXED ASAP so I can watch my Giants! I spoke with the representative there, I believe her name was Michelle. She was really nice, and helpful and was able to get someone out to my office in less than an hour.

When the technician came -- Albert was so prompt and really accommodating. Since I work in the servicing industry, I appreciated the fact that he was courteous and willing to explain things to me. I have no experience in plumbing so he was able give me some pointers to prevent this issue from happening again in the future. I definitely recommend Economy plumbing!

I do not recommend Economy Plumbing. I called them on Friday, 10/24, to get a quote for a clogged garage drain. I chose them because they advertise a deal when I Googled for drain clearing firms.

They refused to give even a rough estimate. They want me to take time off work, meet a plumber, and then they would give the cost.

Their sales tactic is for you to commit to meeting them, and then once you're there, you figure you don't want to deal with meeting another plumber, so you'll accept even a high cost.

Really frustrating. They know what the job will cost (I told them snaking for up to one hour), and they refuse to give a price.

This review was written for Economic Plumbing (Daly City/Colma/SSF).

Pros:
Service man came on time.
Provide free estimate.

Cons:
Unfair pricing. ( Perform Thermocouple replacement for $299. The actual work was just like replacing a cable for your TV. Works are completed within 5 minutes).

Aris is a great guy. He came within 40 minutes to fix my water heater. He fixed the problem in about 15 minutes and my water heater was working again. Not sure why there are bad reviews.

I booked this company for a residential remodel client. The first plumber who came out and gave us a quote was great - he was experienced, professional and wrote out a detailed quote that explained everything that we needed. We booked the service but at the scheduled time the owner showed up with a new quote that was $2K higher. His reasoning was that the first quote didn't include a tree removal and he wasn't willing to work with us on the price. We ended up cancelling the service and booking another company but we would consider working with them again.

We called them to clear a drain from probably roots. He refused to use the cutter, saying it might get stuck. Instead he used some jet blaster that essentially just blew the dirt off the roots. It worked for a few weeks. For that he wanted 695. We negotiated to 450. So a month or so later same thing. Thats what happens if you dont cut the roots out. The guy wanted another 695. After we asked him to leave the property i called another guy that came out and used his cutter for 250 and that included putting a camera in the pipe to show me the issue ans solution. These guys are the type of business that tries to get all your money the first time, instead of trying to be your lifetime plumber. Pretty sorry business model.

We had someone come out to fix a clogged garbage disposal. They guy came out and fixed the drain clog and in the process cracked the garbage disposal causing a leak. The disposal wasn't leaking before so it couldn't have been there. He refused to do anything about it, but charge us an additional $379 to replace it. This is in addition to the over $200 that he already charged for fixing the leak. What kind of a company causes issues like this and doesn't take responsibility? We had someone else come out and replace it for cheaper - I would recommend staying away.

The other day I called Economy Plumbing Sewer & Drain because suddenly overflowed into our driveway. It was a Sunday evening and I was desperate so I looked at the first page of the Yellow Page and there was Economy Plumbing Sewer & Drain. They came, checked, and said that the water was blocked where the house trap was. The plumber that helped us said that the house trap was clogged and was under the concrete of the driveway, so he instantly gave us a contract for fixing the house trap for $3200. He said that he would come the following day to fix it.

The following day, Monday, the same plumber came and found out that our house trap isn't in our driveway; it turned out to be in our backyard. He said that we needed to drill a hole 10 feet deep and needed a special permit. Afterwards when he dug out the hole, it turned out to be only 4 feet. He changed the house trap to a new one, and afterwards he ""finished"" the job within half a day. He then said that 20 feet in front of the house trap leading from my house was a tree root and wanted us to build a new pipe for another $5000; i didn't agree.

A few days later, after he took away the garbage, he claimed that 2 feet on the other side of the house trap (the side that leads to the public sewer) was another tree root. I didn't even bother to agree and ask for the pricing anymore.

What in the world is the problem with my sewer system? How much money would I have to spend on this sewer? Can I even trust the ever-changing judgement of this company? At first he only said that we only needed to fix the house trap, so I didn't go and find another company. All of a sudden various problems appear. He didn't even get rid of any roots! I STILL have problems with my pipe! Why should I even spend this $3200 on something that he didn't fix? It's like trying to take advantage of me! I spent $3200 without getting anything done! It's ridiculous!
