I found Dirty Plumber through Yelp Projects, and I think I just encountered some magical incarnation of Inspector Gadget crossed with James Bond. Here is the story of a garbage disposal, a superhero and a potential explosion averted.

I received a response through Yelp within a few minutes of posting my project. When I called them, the associate who answered was perhaps the most pleasant person with whom I've ever spoken on the phone.

It was as if the man went to butler school in London and was the receptionist to the royal family before being transported to Reno. You could feel his warmth and concern for my garbage disposal radiate through the phone lines, and I knew I had called the right people.

The owner, Jack, was on a job so was not able to take my call, but he called me back within a few minutes and said he'd be on his way- 20 minutes later he was looking at my garbage disposal.

The problem was thankfully an easy fix. A metal soap dispenser component that had disappeared for weeks had landed in the murky depths of the garbage disposal, which explains why it stopped working.

Jack removed the offending invader, made sure the garbage disposal was running, and went a step further by noticing a loose pipe that would have eventually caused water damage untold to the kitchen. He tightened the tube and went out through my garage to write an invoice.

In my mind, Jack was already a mythical warrior plumber on two counts, but this is the point of the story where he morphs into a crescent wrench wielding epic hero.

""I smell propane,"" he said, looking at my glassblowing torch. Jack went to his truck, produced a propane leak detector and a few wrenches, found the leak and tightened the propane line to my torch.

No more leak, no more propane smell. In less than an hour, Jack had fixed a garbage disposal, prevented a flood in the kitchen and also potential explosion in the garage.

I'm presently sitting in the garage, sort of stunned in amazement at the genius and majesty of Dirty Plumber. I highly recommend this company to friends, family and the good people of Yelp to save us from everyday plumbing problems and also life-threatening situations.

The price was incredibly reasonable, especially for what I might have paid for a new garbage disposal, torrential flooding and maybe even medical bills. Thanks a million, Jack, you saved the day!

They responded right away where my bathroom sinks was leaking n spraying water at 11 pm n luckily Jack answered when i called their number. Charged a bit but fixed it in an hour. Fast, clean service. I thank you.

Had a leak in a basement sewer pipe. Jack was very responsive and flexible. He sent a staff plumber who was on time, professional, and efficiently fixed the problem as well as another problem I had procrastinated fixing. All done in a short time and at a more than reasonable price. And, I did this all remotely. I absolutely recommend the Dirty Plumber! We emailed Jack asking for an estimate to replace our hose bib. He replied within 30 minutes with the price (which was quite lower than many competitors!!!); we set a date and time and he was great at trying to accommodate our needs.
When he arrived, he realized he didn't really need to replace the whole piece so he fixed everything and charged us less than the estimate!
One piece was leaking and, when we called him, he came back right away and fixed it!

Had a kitchen faucet replaced. These guys are very competent and they are a union shop, so they are real plumbers. They do absolutely 5-star work. They're not cheap at $150/hr, but get the work finished quickly as possible. They also charge a $5 fuel surcharge. Overall, I highly recommend!

We hired Jack after waiting a month for another plumber to fix a dripping shower head, including ordering the wrong part. Jack immediately knew what the problem was and had the correct part within a week. When the handle on the same shower wouldn't work, Jack knew what was wrong from our call and showed up with the part to fix it the same day!
