$620 for 60 minute consult?!

called d&f to help me troubleshoot a frozen pipe. To their credit, the plumber showed up in less so than 4 hours while other companies couldn't make it out until the following week. After turning on/ off some faucets the technician found the problem but as he said ""nothing to do but wait it out."" He then charged me a $120 service charge and $499 ""exploration"" fee. Not sure what the legal definition is for price gouging but if this doesn't qualify I'm not sure what does. Do yourself a favor and check out smaller outfits (those that don't spend half their advertising budget online). You'll probably pay less and find the same or similar quality.

Terrible service. Kevin was condescending and rude when speaking with a female home owner. Kevin continued to speak over me and refused to get a supervisor above himself. He made incredibly sexist comments the entire time. This company is a nightmare for hiring people like him.

Cancelled appointment day before it was scheduled. Some guy showed up anyway at 6AM. They then threatened to take us to court for Non-payment....not sure of what. They finally stopped sending us letters after about 6 months.

They charge $119 to come out and give you an absurd bid. I needed two hose bibs replaced and was quoted $1,800. Next plumber in was $350 and done in less than 2 hours same day.

Either the D&F plumber didn't want to work and inflated the bid or it's a bait and switch company. I'm betting it's bait and switch.

Who charges so much just to look at a job?

Don't use them for anything. Poor customer service and clearly looking to rip people off. ""If you accept this $1,800 bid you won't have to pay the $119.""

GTFO. Waste of $119.

My shut off valve in my guest bathroom started to leak so I called D & F Pluimbing. I was told that they could have someone come out the next day but if they had a cancellation they may come out the same day. I did get a call that they were sending someone out. That is the only positive thing I can say about this company. Randy came out assessed the problem. I discussed some other items and it's cost and made an appointment for that Friday. I asked what time on Friday and he said 11 AM

At 11:25 I called the office to confirm and was wold he was finishing a job and should be there shortly. Over an hour latter I again called the office upset as I had another appointemnt I would be late for. I cancelled the job and demanded my money which came to half the job be refuned to me.

10 minutes later I get a call from the Randy. I informed him I cancellled the job. He tell me there is a two hour window but when I asked him what time he would arrive he said 11 AM and no mention of a 2 hour window. When I reviewed the job order and signed for the work and it's cost never was I given or sent an emailed for what the job would cost. as a reciept

The following week I get a call from accountung asking if it's okay to charge the balance to my credit card. Obviously they don't communicate well with thier own staff.

Very disappointed with this company

We had a clog back in November. It was a pretty basic fix, we opted to have a scope done, for a whooping $900+...well, the plumber forgot to replace a rubber gasket when reattaching the pipes to the overflow sink, so when we had a bunch of rain the other night, instead of overflowing into the overflow sink, we had poop water flooding our basement. Seems like a pretty basic thing for a licensed and bonded plumber to remember to do, but I understand everyone makes mistakes. When I called to let them know what happened and request full or partial refund or even just to talk to someone, I was told "" a manager will call you shortly"". No one called. I called back and was told the same thing. No one called. I called again today and was told they can pass the message on, but that is all they can do. So, not only did we receive a very expensive and poorly done service, but they do not seem to care about their customers, their reputation, or providing quality professional work. Do NOT use them!

I engaged D&F Plumbing to fix my tankless water heater which they installed 13 years ago.

Summary of this review:
D&F uses unethical business practices to try and get you to buy products and services you don't need. Some techniques they use are to take advantage of your need for immediate resolution (like needing your hot water back on) and lack of knowledge to make a poor decision which benefits them. For me, an immediate clue was the plumber saying things like, ""well, you've never had this water heater serviced after 13 years,"" ""not many people use this kind of water heater anymore,"" and ""in my experience, when you fix one thing on these water heaters after 13 years, another thing fails."" They'll do the math and only do work that serves them.

Background of my issue:
In trying to solve the issue myself, I removed the flame rod and electrode to clean it. In doing so, It became apparent that I needed to replace a heat-resistant gasket to reassemble the water heater and do further testing. Unfortunately, no one had the part in stock locally and I had to order it online. It was $20 for a replacement flame rod, electrode, and gasket. Wanting to get it repaired right away, I scheduled an appointment with D&F in hopes they would have the parts or could get them.

Scheduling:
Scheduler was friendly and helpful. I was able to schedule something for the next working day. Cost was $119 for the visit and this could be credited towards any work done. The other option would have been an ""emergency"" visit which would get them out right away for a non-refundable, non-creditable $199.

Plumber Visit:
The plumber came and was courteous and professional. After a short examination and conversation with his boss, they recommended replacing the heater for $5,000.

Upon questioning what a repair option might look like, I was quoted $1,200, with the caveat that they couldn't recommend this path ""in good conscience"" because they couldn't warranty the repair work AND they couldn't guarantee they could get it working after this investment.

Upon questioning what they would do for $1,200, the response was 1) to order the parts to reassemble the water heater (which unbeknownst to them, I had already done for $20), 2) perhaps call Rinnai technical support (which unbeknownst to them, I had already done and gotten troubleshooting steps), and 3) flush the water heater system with descaling solution.

I explained that I had the part on the way and asked if they had any materials on hand or could access readily that could be used in place of the gasket that I needed. The answer was, no. I repeated back to the plumber what they were going to do for $1,200 to make sure that I understood it. The plumber responded that they could reduce the cost to $699 to flush the system with descaler which would be their first step in troubleshooting.

Upon further questioning, the flush with descaler solution is a routine maintenance step for tankless water heaters. The frequency is dependent on water quality, plumbing (if it's mixed materials, for example). In the end, I opted to wait for the replacement parts. I also researched the descaling process and learned that I could DIY it with a $120 kit. In the end, I got the parts and repaired it myself (altho it took a week).

All in all, it was a pretty shabby experience. I felt like the plumber was playing mind games to try and get me to choose more expensive options. While he was professional and didn't give me a hard sell, I felt their overall approach was self-serving. Even a water heater install was $1500-$2000 more than other installers had quoted.

They did a good job installing the water heater system 13 years ago. Even so, I would never use this company for any work after this most recent experience.

I scheduled an appointment due to a water leak under my house. I was told at the time I scheduled this appointment that there were be a $119.00 just to assess the problem. When the plumber arrived he told me it would be $570.00 just to crawl under the house just to see what the issue was. This $570.00 was only to crawl under the house, not to fix the problem. I asked him to leave, which he did, but I was still charged the $119.00 fee when no work or assessment was dome.

NO CALL - NO SHOW! They made an appointment with us to snake our pipe and replace under the sink pipes. The person who came seemed professional and courteous after coming for an after hours appointment. They gladly took our money and promised to try to get us in early as it was MLK weekend but there was no follow through. So disappointed in this local business.Three Mountains it is!

I filled out the appointment request online, but called because it said ""for faster service."" I set an appointment to accommodate their schedule...they don't book bid appointments after 2pm ""because it could run into after hour billing"". To do a quick bid??? I called a 2nd plumber and got the same thing, plus they wanted me to pay a fee for them to give a bid that would then be credited back to me if I used them. So I called D&F back to find out if there was a similar fee because Jamie did take my credit card over to the phone to ""hold the appointment"". Christina answered and verified that they charged a $119 bid fee that would be credited back to me IF I chose to use them. That was never explained to me by Jamie. Christina's excuse was ""well you filled out the appointment request on the website, and the fee explanation is on the website."" NOT ON THE FORM YOU FILL OUT TO REQUEST A CALL BACK, CHRISTINA!!! What happened to earning someone's business? They must be hard up for money, or too busy to earn your business to charge a fee like that. I canceled my appointment and called another two companies that don't charge a fee just to show up.
