The Day Worker Center of Mountain View is a non-profit entity that pairs day workers with employers in a secure and dependable atmosphere. Established by local entrepreneurs, community members, and church leaders to provide job-matching services for hundreds of local homeowners and businesses annually, we help employers locate reliable, skilled, and friendly workers while empowering workers to elevate their socio-economic conditions through education, advocacy, and job skills training.

Every worker and employer is registered with the Center, and many share a long history of reliable and respectful service. The Center seeks feedback from every employer and tracks the performance of each worker. Both sides benefit from an organized hiring system, transparent pay expectations, and a bilingual team to facilitate communication.

The Center imposes no fees on workers or those who hire them.

We look forward to fulfilling your requirements!

We've hired people from the Day Worker Center for moving our stuff from home to storage to new home several times and absolutely loved them. They work insanely hard, and are thoughtful and competent. We generally provide lunch and something above the standard rate, plus a tip because we know what a great deal we are getting. These aren't your standard commercial movers who just want to get your crap on the truck and get moving - these are caring people who want to take your treasured possessions and treat them like their own. Oh, and we don't speak a word of Spanish, so don't think that's a barrier. Because they are thinking about what needs to be done and not just standing around waiting for orders, communication isn't a problem. In fact, it's kind of fun. The only regret I have is that we don't have more work to send the way of these excellent people.

I have used Day Workers from the Mountain Center for a number of years and have never been disappointed. I have used the workers mainly for yard work but also for housekeeping. It is a wonderful organization and the workers work very hard and do very good work. I highly recommend them

My husband and I have hired many, many day workers for the Day Worker Center over a period of 8 years to mostly do yard work including laying a sprinkler system, taking out tree roots, digging trenches, weeding, planting, etc. While the quality of work ranges we have had really hard working people. We have recommended the DWC to many of our friends and will continue to do that. Just last weekend my husband surprised me by getting my vegetable garden planter boxes ready with the help of one day worker!

I have had the good fortune of working with the wonderful folks here at the Day Worker Center on multiple occasions and I am always so pleased and appreciate their efforts. These guys are eager to do the job and do it well. They aren't afraid of hard work, dirty work, or even detail work. Over the months these guys helped me to load multiple dumpsters, empty a house, clean up the yard ( a MAJOR undertaking) and paint-each with the necessary skill set. They are so good at what they do, not afraid of work, and fun to boot. I am always laughing with the crew as we bust our butts making it happen. I LOVE this resource and hope to have access to these folks for the years to come.

We needed someone to help us with light landscaping and gardening and were totally happy with the worker they provided. Oscar was great-friendly, eager to help, careful, and a good eye for what looks natural in a garden. We had to remind him to take breaks now and then! We would certainly recommend the Worker Center and especially Oscar for gardening work

Moving sucks. Moving companies can suck and can be expensive too! We were moving just a few miles down the road and already did much of the packing ourselves. What to do?

Off a recommendation for this place, we hired two workers to help us move and we were very pleased with their work. They worked hard, were careful with our stuff, courteous and nice! We paid them $15/hr for their hard work, provided lunch and gave a tip at the end.

They have day laborers that can do many things and when we need help, we will reach out to the Day Worker Center for that help.

After 20 years in Mountain View we finally decided to move. It's amazing how much stuff you can accumulate in 2 decades... even if you live in a townhouse. Luckily we have a great Day Worker center in MV run by Maria and her team.

We decided on the ABF solution because it gave us more control how things were packed. But we needed Maria's day worker teams to move file cabinets, plantation chests and hundreds of boxes to the ABF truck.

These guys are good. They got over 3 tons moved out of 2 stories without putting a single scratch on the wall. At $15/hr. this was a slam dunk deal. ABF wanted 4 times that much. Being able to choose the skills needed (electrician for replacing a chandelier) and the level of English was clearly a plus. These are dependable hardworking people that I am glad to support.

I have contributed a fair amount of money to the Day Worker Center and have used them once before years ago. Today I went in to hire someone to do yard work for a day. I was asked more specifically what kind of work and said moving bundles of trimmings. I was then asked if the ground was flat or sloped. When I said it had some slope I was told that the cost would be $15 an hour. When I said I needed some digging for plants I was told it would also be $15 an hour. The lady said if the ground was flat or he didn't have to use a shovel (catergorized as hard work) I would only have to pay $12 an hour. I said I thought these fees were a bit high considering the minimum wage is about 1/2 that amount and taxes and deductions are taken from minimum wage. I was told that these were non-negotiable prices set not by the Day Worker Center, but were set by the workers themsleves by their Labor Commission. I went down the street and hired a very had working young man for the more reasonable and standard price of $10 an hour, more than minimum wage and a lot less that the $120 a day wanted by the Day Worker Center. Considering my City's tax money togethr with my own funds helped establish the center, I was dismayed and disappointed by their rate structure.

I've used the Center for 8 years. Hired them the first time because the high school half backs that I hired got tired doing the work.

Consistently you get people who work hard, don't complain, and do what you ask them. Used them for: sprinkler repair, tree work (not requiring a harness), weeding and pruning, moving, and painting.

They negotiate fairly and honestly about hours and payment.

Mostly men and women with families that are trying to make a living, so it's easy to connect with them on a personal level. You want to help them out as they are helping their families and they are providing you great service.

I have used their services many times. Almost without exception, I get hardworking people who are want to do a great job and keep the employer happy. Nobody works harder or complains less than these guys. I make sure to treat them with respect and feed them well. Just remember that each worker may or may not be experienced with certain tasks and if you ask them to do something new to them they will usually try to do their best rather than tell you that they haven't done that before.
