The Day Worker Center of Mountain View is a non-profit organization that connects day laborers with employers in a safe and reliable environment. Created by local business owners, community members, and church leaders to deliver job-matching services for many local homeowners and businesses each year, we aid employers in discovering dependable, skilled, and friendly workers while empowering workers to improve their socio-economic status through education, advocacy, and job training.

Every worker and employer is registered with the Center, and many share a long history of reliable and respectful service. The Center seeks feedback from every employer and tracks the performance of each worker. Both sides benefit from an organized hiring system, transparent pay expectations, and a bilingual team to facilitate communication.

The Center imposes no fees on workers or those who hire them.

We are excited to assist you!
Executive Director, María Marroquín, has been honored as Woman of the Year and has received numerous awards for her contributions at the Day Worker Center of Mountain View.

Today I employed men frim the Day Worker Center for the second time--both times for small moving jobs. Both times the men were friendly, cheerful, and courteous, and, maybe more important, quick and efficient--reallr good experiences.

Today, I needed help on fairly short notice, and the office was very responsive and helped me get help even though I called late in the morning. I appreciated the way the office kept in touch and set my expectations realistically without over-promising--another good experience.

I'm really glad to have this great resource with terrific workers and terrific coordination so conveniently located in Mountain View.

This place is awesome! We reserved two workers to help us with moving. They were the nicest, most hard working people ever. They know how to handle each piece and arrange them in the truck to save space. They work fast and efficient! We just love them! Please respect their hard work and tip them nicely, they deserve it! And this center should get a national reward or something like that. Thank you, MV day worker center!

I had a wonderful experience with my first time using the Day Worker center when I hired Ricardo to paint our hallway. He was timely, professional, and always had a smile on his face. He did a fantastic job. Unfortunately we are moving to another city or I would hire him back for everything. He is also apparently an electrician!

I have used the services of the Day Work Center on two different occasions and a year apart. Same great service in July 2014 as I received in may 2013. The staff is awesome. The first time I used them was out of desperation. I needed 4 workers and did not have a clue where to go. I found the Day Work Center on the internet and called. They were so helpful and took great care of me. They explained their process, what is expected out of us employers and what they expect out of their workers. On the day I picked up the four men the staff made sure that one worker could translate for me. The workers were all very hard working, polite and careful. Great experience. It was so good that when I found myself needing workers again in 2014 I knew exactly where to go. Again the staff was outstanding. I also requested one of the workers that I had in 2013. He was busy at another job however I still got outstanding workers. Great experience! I will definitely use the Day Work Center again.

The men we used were diligent, careful and very hard workers. They performed a major garage, workshop, and greenhouse cleanup in record time. We will certainly want to return to the day worker center again, should the need arise.

Awesome! Why didn't I find this place earlier? This would have saved me some back pain during my last move.
We reserved 2 movers over the internet for the upcoming Saturday. Someone called me back the next day to confirm.
On Saturday my husband picked up 2 guys from the center. He was running 20 min late so I called ahead. They didn't find our reservation but still just sent 2 guys along. We had not requested they speak English since I speak some Spanish.
The laborers were very hard working, polite and quick. They emptied our 2 bedroom apartment within one hour! My husband left to get some tools to disassemble the bed. We had tried for 45 min to get the last screw out, which was broken. While my husband was gone the 2 workers got the screw out within 10 min. (Ok, so we're not very handy, my husband and I. ;-) ) I called my husband to come home without the expensive tools.
The workers were careful with the furniture, thoughtful about how to fill the truck to save space and actually got everything in. We had thought we'd have to drive twice.
We had them rest for 20 min, fed them burritos, tacos and coke, and then drove the 3 miles to the new home (2 story house). They emptied the truck within 45 min. We paid them cash with a huge tip, drove them back to the center, and they wished us good luck with our new house. I'd do this again any time!

Twice, I needed help moving enough items to fill a decent sized studio. I got Juan and Jackson the first time and Juan and Carlos the second time. They were great - quick, efficient, friendly, and professional. They were careful with fragile items and were quick to follow small requests. I would definitely hire from here again.

I Moved with my kids into a new house and I hired several workers from this Center during the five weeks my moving lasted.
They are such sweet, nice, honest & hard worker people.
They really helped me us painting, carrying large furniture, drilling and installing racks and electric stuff.
I highly recommend them for their honesty, sense of responsibility and kindness.

It had a great experience in this Center!!!

So what's the deal with the MV Day Worker Center these days?
This used to be such a good organization and did a great job
for the workers, the community and those that wanted to hire them.

These days it feels like a union hall for day labor. Their rates are
up significantly and to pay $12-$15 an hour for unskilled labor seems
unreasonably high, considering we also include lunch and more.
Plus this is an all cash business with most of the workers not even
paying taxes. We know many young adults fresh out of school that don't
make this much and they pay taxes.

Even the center's follow-up has been poor lately. It's sad to
say, I guess they have too much business these days.
This is all what forces us to hire day labor from around the
Home Depot stores. This is truly unfortunate as it doesn't
help their cause, nor the community.

We'll still give them a star or two as we believe in their cause
and hope to see them improve again. We'll be glad to come
back and up level our review/rating as we see them improve.

Maria is a wonderful lady. She has sent me workers many times over the years. The men and women of the center are hard working people who always try their best. I appreciate their help. Happy Holidays to All of You!
