David Gray established the firm in 1983 out of the back of a Plymouth Duster car (the Duster was a car, not a van). Initial phone calls initially were answered by sales staff at his father-in-law's furniture store. The firm expanded to the point where an office with a staff was necessary.
The company is authentically a family-owned operation. At different points, David's spouse, father, father-in-law, brother-in-law, child, daughter(s), and niece have all contributed to the company. David's son and sibling-in-law are now active in running the business with him and are co-owners.
The firm has expanded from that Plymouth Duster to more than thirty-five service teams and in excess of 70 staff members. David Gray founded David Gray Plumbing, Inc. in 1980. The business has been offering excellent service and maintenance in Jacksonville, FL ever since. The firm employs the finest plumbers and qualified HVAC technicians in Jacksonville.

worst service ever , I called at 7:30 was told I was 4 th in line someone would be out . not a problem I'm up late at 11:00 still no call , no show !! I called to see where I was in line maybe a job before mine took a while . oh no , I was told I wasn't on the list , gave a diff number that no one answered. so I called back . was advised that they have 24:7 service but that is just cause they have someone answering the phones 24.7 not a technician 24:7 you have to wait till business hours . well I called during business hours and you they dropped the ball. I will never use David grey or recommend them !!
July 17, 2024 , emergency repair of tub/shower faucet cartridge cost $433.00 for less than one hour work start to finish. David Gray's Plumbing's website read that if services were performed by July 21, 2024 the labor cost would be $69.00 per hour. The technician stated he would email a detailed invoice. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting for a detailed invoice regarding the costs for travel, parts(markup), labor, and taxes. Other than the replacement of the tub/shower faucet cartridge, all I've experienced from David Gray Plumbing is corrupt/unfair business practices and extreme price gouging. I believe in a honest pay for honest work. All businesses are in business to make money but some business models prefer cheating the consumers. It's all about the """"Bottom Line."""" Business integrity is an afterthought.
Three years ago, we bought a new Rheem central air conditioner from David Gray. This past Friday, the system was not working, so we called them for service. They arrived a couple of hours later and diagnosed the problem...something about a condenser fan. Supposedly, the part was available in stock in town. The servicewomen left to get the part. Hours went by and we called the service number. All we got was a recording. No one called us to tell us they were not returning that day. The weather in northeast Florida in July is the temperature is in the 90s and humidity in the 80 to 90% range. The next morning, which was Saturday, we called only to find out the part was NOT in stock and had to be ordered. So, we have had to live through hot and humid weather. Not only that, we were informed that only the parts are covered by warranty and the labor will cost us $600.00. Apparently, David Gray no longer charges by hourly service rate, but by lump sum per job. I am waiting until tomorrow, Monday, to see if they contact us with an update. As of this moment, I would not recommend David Gray for any work you need done.
Quality was no where to be found. After hours person didn't want to do anything but sell a yearly Maintenance contract. Said would order the part and put on the schedule neither happened. Called call center got placed on schedule bc used them in the past. Their best came by replaced a part. Said our unit wasn't under warranty when it was. Only wanted to sell a new unit 9k charged us just under 1k left us in the heat without a care. Called another company came out immediately gave a loaner motor. Order new motor under warranty stood by their word don't use David grey! Call cool R US gave us AC immediately treated us right! Cared about my disabled child having AC! David grey sucks!!! Out to take your money without fixing anything.
I had one of the worst experiences with """"DAVID GRAY Plumbing"""" Company. Their business model is unlike anything I've ever seen. I contacted their customer support team to get a quote for installing two security cameras at my home. They said they would send someone to the property to provide an estimate. Today, they arrived, assessed the situation, and quoted me $1100 to install two security cameras. I had already purchased the cameras for $150 each. When I spoke with other electricians, they quoted me $200 for the installation. There's no way I would pay $1100 for that, so I refused their quote. Then, """"DAVID GRAY Plumbing"""" asked me to pay a $70 service charge. I initially refused, but the installation guy threatened to report me to the collections department. So, I ended up paying the $70 service charge. Afterward, I checked online reviews and found that many others had the same complaint. I will NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. They are ripping off their customers. I found another electrician who will install the cameras for $200. If I could give zero stars, I would. It seems this company makes its money from service charges because customers often refuse their outrageous quotes.
Jim P.Well, I had a minor plumbing job to replace the floats and flapper in two toilets that were both losing water while the float was also jamming. I called David Gray Plumbing and was told that there was a minimum charge of $80 for the Service Call. I felt that this was reasonable and scheduled the appointment. When the serviceman arrived, he provided me with an estimate. That estimate was $359 for each toilet to be serviced. After receiving """"discounts,"""" the total charge for this 35-minute service call that included parts that amounted to maybe $25 equaled $714.00. I'm embarrassed to admit that I agreed to this ridiculous price as both toilets were inoperable. But needless to say, I won't ever be calling this company again. BEWARE - FIND SOMEONE ELSE BEFORE EVEN CALLING THIS COMPANY.
Received the most horrific service and unauthorized charge of $479 on service call on 5/26/24. Asked for an estimate but they performed service without approval. Air conditioner still did not work and said would come back on Tuesday. Would be an additional $569. On Tuesday the additional $569 (appx) changed to $1120. Asked to speak to the owner, was denied. The service I have received was good.....still have more to do. The repairman Micheal was very pleasant and helped me understand what was going to be needed to do.
Jose M.My issue with them is that they cannot give even a starting price on a job unless they come out which is a cost in itself. If you cannot give me a starting price before coming out then that raises red flags with me and that is not how I do business.
