David Gray established the firm in 1983 in the back of a Plymouth Duster car (the Duster was a vehicle, not a van). Initial phone calls were received by employees at his father-in-law's furniture store. The firm grew to the point where a dedicated office with a team was required.
The firm is genuinely a family-owned operation. At some point, David's wife, father, father-in-law, sibling-in-law, son, daughter(s), and nieces have all been employed to the business. David's son and brother-in-law are presently active in managing the business with him and are co-owners.
The business has expanded from that Plymouth Duster to over thirty-five work crews and in excess of 70 employees. David Gray established David Gray Plumbing, Inc. in 1980. The company has been delivering excellent service and plumbing in Jacksonville, FL since then. The firm hires the finest pipe specialists and certified HVAC specialists in Jacksonville.

Called to have a shower faucet installed and they quoted $1100 to get completed I had all the parts and had removed tile etc literally all they had to do was cut a few pipes and place new ones in. Thought it would be around $400. Price gauging is what they are doing. I ended up doing it myself and saving the money. I will NEVER call them for anything again. My hard earned money isn't going to a company that over charges to that degree.

My mother only needed to stop her tank from running, which is not a hard job. You can buy the kit in Lowes. But she is in her 80s and they screwed her for 517.00!!!! They had her sign something and said they would email a receipt of the breakdown... which they never did. Instead, they sent a list of everything they checked from hot water heater, to pipes etc etc. When they asked her if she wanted such a check- she said NO. They were nowhere except in the bathroom with the running toilet. They DID NOT check the plumbing system in her house, besides the fact that she did not want it. If you want plumbing done by people who would scam an elderly woman, then call David Gray Plumbing. I'm sure they can oblige.

Called to get a estimate to replace a leaking kitchen faucet. I already had bought the faucet. They advised me they couldn't give me a estimate over the phone. The lady stated they could send someone out for $89 to give me a estimate. I asked how much they charge hourly and she stated they charge by the job. They come out and gave me a quote for $389.07 installed including the service charge.. This looks like the standard price they charge for a kitchen faucet install. They could have told me this over the phone. This is a one hole faucet.. Most people are stuck and have to pay what they ask once they are at your house as i was. I needed my water back on. This company is all about the money. They were at my house 30-40 minutes max and charged $389.07.. Total rip off.. Its a scam the way they do it. I see other reviews above stating the same.. I recently had plumbers do work at my other house and they were nowhere as expensive as David Gray. I will never use David Gray again for anything. I wish i would have read the reviews before calling them. Almost $400 for less than a hr of work with no parts is a scam and rip off.

Deceptive Price Practice. I used & referred them out for years...Until they changed from hourly billing to by the job. I made an apt Tues for Fri,& was told about the $89 trip charge. OK. Said I have a kitchen faucet to replace, the sprayer broke off. I have the replacement. No mention of the cost from them. I'm expecting an hourly rate. They text they are on the way,no mention of price. They arrive, confirms I called in to replace a kitchen faucet, then tells me the fixed cost price is $398.07!!! Using my faucet! Do I want to continue? What choice do you have, why wasn't I told before if it was a fixed cost? And that is the deceptive part, had I been told when I made the apt,the fixed cost is $400,I would have found someone else, but that would have taken more days to use my kitchen sink. So I said OK. Then I was told the stops should be replaced, that would cost $120 each. Wow. Mon I called the office to ask if the pricing was correct. Brandon handles the billing,(Must be the name) & he said that was the price, you agreed to it. And that was it. I doubt if anything else from them is affordable, so I would look elsewhere.

Wish I could leave a better review but they never called back nor acknowledged our message.

$89 show up fee and $375 and hr labor rate is factored into the """"flat rate"""" pricing. Get ready to overpay for unlicensed technicians.

I recently moved here and encountered a plumbing problem in my newly purchased condo. Unfortunately, the problem occurred while I was away. The association gave me the name of plumbers to contact. I chose David Gray after I was told that it would cost $89. for the initial service call. Upon my approval, I confirmed, this amount would be credited to the cost of the repair. Negative! When I finally heard from the technician, he told me what work was DONE and the cost. AND, he advised as to what further work was needed! So, what happened to the estimate I requested? I was not given an opportunity to approve or disapprove the work. Normally, I like getting a second opinion to make an informed decision as to the best solution. Gray didn't allow that---they made the decision and moved forward without consulting me. I reached out to the company hoping that they would give some compensation/consideration under the circumstances - no such luck. Again, they did what they wanted to do, and took no responsibility, case closed! This puts them on my """"no-call"""" list. Too bad, my first plumbing experience wasn't favorable making David Gray a """"no-go"""" choice. It appears I'm not the first to get taken by their """"bait and switch"""" game.

We have two exterior flood lights that are not working. The lights are new so we figured that they were incorrectly installed. The electrician came out, went into the attic to check the connection. We had been told that it would be $89 to come out to check and let us know what it would cost to fix it. Instead the technician told us that it would be another $93 to remove the lights to look at them. (Again, the lights were new so we new it was not the fixtures that are the problem.) Since we would be charged that additional money with no estimate of the cost of repair, we declined to continue further. Our assumption had been that the $89 fee would tell us what the cost of the repairs would be. But he could not tell us. If we had paid the additional $93, then I presume we would then be charged who knows how much more money for the actual repairs! Other companies charge to come out, but give you the cost of repairs after the evaluation. Some even apply the evaluation fees to the repairs. Not David Grey. I feel totally ripped off. Find someone who won't pull a bait and switch.

AMAZING! I've literally NEVER had a company actually do the proper work to my a/c system. David Gray fixed my issues fast! Excellent customer service and friendly staff. Highly recommend!

Needed a dishwasher installed. Look I get it. There are dishwasher installs and then there are dishwasher installs. Hard to tell how much without seeing the job first. Or is it? Their deal is that they do not quote any price of any kind over the phone. They'll send someone out and give a price. HOWEVER... they charge $89.95 for that someone to come out. Non refundable of course. So I bit. I had the guy come out. Paid $89.95 For our dishwasher install, there is a properly functioning dishwasher already there. There's a brand new dishwasher in a box. There is a ton of space around the dishwasher. The floor is sheet vinyl so the old dishwasher would slide out perfectly. David Gray's price to install the dishwasher? $600! That was about the price of the dishwasher. Obviously we told the guy to forget it but now we're out $89. What a racket! Hey David Gray I assume you don't want to install dishwashers. If that's the case, say so. If you really do want to install dishwashers, how about you join the 21st century? Tell your call center people to ask the three or four questions whose answers you need in order to be able to provide an approximate price. Then just say to the caller, """"based on what you told me, the approximate price to install the dishwasher is between x and x."""". OR how about you also ask the customer to send you over a picture of the space where the dishwasher is to go. Otherwise, David Gray.... you're running a racket to collect $89 fees from folks.
