Shower valve replacement
Buyer beware ! They did not give me an estimate showed up and then I had to sign that I agreed with the cost. The final cost for 2 hours of work was $803. I provided the valve part. Would not recommend them at all.
They left a hole in the bedroom wall they needed to cut for access unfinished. When I called they said they do not do drywall or even install an axis panel. They destroyed the drywall piece taken from the wall so it could not be used to repair the wall. I had to pay to have the hole repaired
Philip B.I had a shower handle that was damaged beyond repair so had them come out. After watching me cut the drywall, use all of my tools (even a screwdriver) he proceeded to do 15 minutes of soldering a valve that I had already bought from a shower kit. He then pronounced it done. Stuff literally everywhere. No handle, nothing. Then charged me ....$650. No kidding. Told him no way and his boss even told him he was nuts. Only...$375 (reasonable for a Sunday if he had done a professional job). After having him try his best to do a professional job (I have no idea where the hardware that came with the new kit is- he clearly used the old screws that don't quite fit) I paid him and had him leave. Then I took it all apart and installed a support behind the valve, put it together and cleaned it up. Will never use them again.
DO NOT USE DAUENHAUER PLUMBING IF YOU WANT YOUR REPAIRS DONE CORRECTLY AND YOU WANT A DETAILED INVOICE. I do not typically post reviews. However, I selected Dauenhauer Plumbing based on great reviews and because of the poor service I need to warn others. On May 6 Daniel Frank came to repair our shower that we were unable to turn off. He was very polite, on time, and quickly diagnosed the issue. He spoke with our Home Warranty providers and explained the problem. He then disappeared and came back much later with a new shower handle. He quickly replaced the handle and was to send us the receipt for repairs via email right after the appointment. The next day we used the shower and the handle was even more difficult to turn and after use, again had a leak. We called Dauenhauer back and explained the shower handle was in worse condition then before it broke. We scheduled a second appointment for them to come back, but couldn't find a time before May 11th. Same plumber returns again, quickly diagnoses the issue which he missed on the first appointment and again spoke with our Home Warranty providers to explain the issue. After the appointment we never received an email with receipt. I called the company back the next day and they quickly sent me the receipt. However, upon forwarding the invoices to our Home Warranty they were declined for insufficient information. Upon inspecting the receipts myself I realized they only showed a ""Fuel Surcharge"" and then ""Hourly Charges for T&M Work"". I called Dauenhauer again and explained the receipts needed to show the work performed, they said yes we'll take care of it and email it to you. Working nights I wasn't able to follow up immediately, but when I did I was greatly disappointed to see they had sent me the exact same invoices as previous. Vacations came and went and then I remembered we needed to get the correct invoices to the Home Warranty group and called them again asking to speak with the supervisor. The person receiving the office phone calls at the time, Kathy, wanted to know what the matter was and cut me off during my explanation to say that they are not required to provide detailed invoices. I explained that wasn't acceptable and that I needed to speak with someone higher than herself to correct the issue. I was placed on a long hold and when she returned I was told someone would contact me within 20 minutes to review my invoices. I never received a phone call, but it was late in the day. The next day I called them back again, this time Erica, a Billing Specialist, states she will speak with the plumber and then send me the detailed invoices within the hour. I check my email and once again they sent me the exact same generic invoices with no detail in them at all. I have no idea how this company has so many great reviews because they clearly have no idea what a detailed invoice is, have no intention of helping the customer, don't fully repair issues so you are forced to call them back so they can recharge you a service fee, and are greatly overpriced in my opinion. Save yourself from a severe headache and go with a different plumber. These people waste your time and money.
Marcel R.Dauenhauer requested contact from me after seeing my review and sent over two technicians who diagnosed the issue free of charge and determined what needed to be done to remedy the situation. We arranged for the original technician to return, and he cleared the drain needed to stop the flooding in the laundry. The additional charge was about $240. I respect and appreciate the company's effort and have increased my one star to three.
I do believe that the pricing structure used by Dauenhauer may result in higher-than-normal fees. According to my technician, he does not receive hourly pay but is paid on a commission basis. That said, I do not have much to compare them to, and this may be the standard. Everything did seem very expensive, though, and i hope they will work on communication with customers so that noone will take off work to be home during the designated window of time for the repair only to have the technician show up six hours late at approximately 11 PM.
I booked an appointment on Monday for Friday evening. Left work early today so I could get home in time to be here for scheduled ""window"". The technician never showed. No call, no show.
Complete waste of my time. What a joke of a business.
Charles J.They gave themselves a seven hour window to do the job. Did not show up. Never called to reschedule or cancel. A really crappy way to do business. I will never call them again.
Dean came out on Sunday and was back Monday to fix the leak. Excellent service I wouldn't have anyone else. John McCabe
The technician who came out gave us a verbal estimate for our water heater replacemenot, however after installation, we realized it wasn't the one we requested- no alarm, no digital display. They also fixed a kitchen faucet, but after they left, we found it was leaking under the sink. Called the technician and they had to come back to fix the leak. The tech told us he would be in trouble if he didn't receive a check on the spot. We asked for an invoice, but were told they would email it. After 24 hours we called the office for a copy of the invoice, and realized it was ""signed"" by someone other than my husband. There was no breakdown of pricing - equipment, parts, labor, permit & tax. We called and asked for a manager to call us but have received no call back. We also noticed they had broken our closet door during the installation & said nothing to us. We are seniors and it feels like they have taken advantage of us.
Chris Moss came out for an emergency issue during a snowstorm. He was extremely professional and took care of the problem very quickly and provided education on things to watch out for future problems. Will 100% be calling him for any future plumbing related issues
Jessica C.My plumbing estimate was $3500-$5000. Two technicians, Ryan and Gerald arrived to complete the job. They were at my house less than 6 and a half hours, replaced around 8-10 feet of pipe, and I was charged the full $5000. I've asked for two weeks for a detailed invoice for my insurance and am yet to receive one. A friend who is a landscape architect and does large commercial jobs showed me the cost of renting an excavator, and the cost of the materials that were purchased from Lowe's. I do not understand the $5000 charge, I've never dealt with a business that charges a flat rate and refuses to provide a detailed statement of work. On a personal note, the technician Ryan felt it necessary to tell me that he would be voting for Trump when he saw my Biden yard sign and then question me as to why I would choose to vote for Biden. When I told him my preference as a domestic violence survivor was simply to choose Biden, he told me, ""I nearly killed my ex-wife, some women just won't stop running their mouth."" As someone that lived in fear for their life, I felt that statement was wildly unprofessional and inappropriate. Additionally, while the technicians worked, we weren't able to flush the toilets in the house. Ryan came inside, had a large bowel movement in my basement bathroom, and had to leave it to sit for several hours. Later he came in and had me go and flush it so that he could observe the line for leaks. Not only do I feel that I was grossly overcharged, I feel that Ryan's lack of professionalism is disturbing and very disrespectful.
