It is sometimes difficult to find a plumber who you believe is telling you the truth. After 12+ years in this community, I've found a permanent plumber. Daniel was prompt, identified the problem, and quickly fixed it. When I showed him another problem (for which he could have charged me hundreds to fix) he said ""it's not worth it"" and gave me a strategy to deal with the problem. Pricing for the job I called him out for was was very reasonable--the advice was FREE!

As you can see from my profile here, I don't write many reviews, and when I do, they can tend to be negative. I'm only giving him five stars because Yelp won't allow me to give six or more. He was a real delight to do business with, and I would not hesitate for a second to have him back when further plumbing needs arise. He is a genuinely nice and honest man. A true pleasure to meet.

We have used Daniel Fish Plumbing 3 times in the last 6 months, after purchasing a 20 year old home that hadn't been taken care of well the last few years. Each time Daniel promptly returned my text with a phone call and came over very quickly. He has fixed all the issues we had the first time and we have had no problems since. Daniel himself repaired a troublesome leaking toilet that another plumber had supposedly fixed, but didn't. Saul came and replaced the reciprocating pump on our hot water heater on one occasion and the cartridge in our master shower on another occasion. I am sure we'll find something else that isn't working right in the future and Daniel Fish Plumbing will be our first call!

Overpriced, rude, and unreasonable. Never mentioned the $100 visit fee before trying to stick it to us, and that's on top of the parts and actual labor, which was only 15 min. Will never use again.

Charged me for work but refuse to fix the work that he didn't do right. Charged again to come to see what was wrong with what he did .

My wife called Fish Plumbing for one of our clients house in Oxnard. When Mr. Fish arrived, I showed him the 2 issues we had. One leak under a bathroom sink and one drain that needed to be cleaned (hair inside the drain).
I guess Mr. Fish was there to make money because within the first 3 minutes he was there, he showed us other future potential problems with the plumbing in both downstairs bathrooms. I asked him how much all the work would cost because I had to call my client and get his approval. Mr. Fish told me it would cost $300. I then called my client and told him about the future potential problems and the $300 that Mr. Fish was going to charge for everything. My client who trust me said yes right away to all the work and to the $300.
Mr. Fish did all the work in about one hour. I was happy with his speed of work and I already called my next appointment to let them know I would be there shortly.
When Mr. Fish gave me the invoice, the $300 agreed upon became $437.50. I asked him why such a huge difference in the price. His answer was that he had forgotten to tell me about his Call Fee and then, he also reminded me that he also had to clean the drain in the second bathroom and that even though he normally charges $75 for this ""very difficult job"", he had only charged me $25. I concluded that his call fee had to be $100. On top of that, because I was paying with a credit card (Visa), there was another 3% fee for the transaction.

Just moved into our fixer upper and took a shot at finding a plumber in our new community. We got lucky with our choice when we found Daniel Fish Plumbing. Daniel sent out Saul to take care of a plumbing job we needed done ASAP. He was a nice guy and did a great job. He will be coming back to do another job soon. We recommend Fish Plumbing highly.

Hiring Daniel Fish Plumbing to replace my water heater was an expensive mistake. Like many people, I was influenced by the company's positive reviews - but I got burned. I paid more for less, and I will need to have the job redone, thereby doubling my costs.
Because I had been dealing with a home warranty company and one of their plumbers before making the appointment with Daniel Fish Plumbing, I had a list of code-related upgrades that were recommended to me. I presented the list to Daniel Fish when he arrived at my house. He said the upgrades were ""horsesh!t"" and just a way for those plumbers to charge more money for replacing a water heater. It seemed plausible to me at the time, but I later realized I was railroaded into the job that Daniel Fish wanted to do (i.e., a like-for-like replacement of my old water heater with a new water heater) - not the job I wanted done.
As shown by the pictures, the job did not turn out very well. The one request I stood by for the new water heater was to have a drain pan. Despite some protest by Daniel Fish, that request was honored - sort of. For reference, the specification provided with the water heater mandated a drain pan at least 34 inches in diameter. What did I get? I got a 28-inch drain pan. Why? Because the 28-inch drain pan was the only way Daniel Fish thought he could accommodate my request for a drain pan and follow through with the job that he wanted to do. (Indeed, the smaller of two drain pans he had on hand was used instead of the larger, more appropriate drain pan.) As a result, the manufacturer-recommended protective cover for the water heater could not be used. Daniel Fish will say that I had a choice, but I was really only presented a dilemma between using the drain pan or the cover (but not both). That said, the piping to the drain valve on the water heater does not leave enough room for the protective cover anyway.
Daniel Fish wanted to settle before the job was even complete. (It was Friday, and he wanted to go home early.) I wish I had bothered to ask him for an estimate before he and his assistant began the job. (But slog through some of the Yelp reviews and you will find Daniel Fish does not like providing estimates.) In the end, the job cost me $400 more than an estimate I received from the plumber associated with the home warranty company. That estimate included the code-related upgrades. Later, after a leak developed just 2-3 feet away from where Daniel Fish had worked, I called out yet another plumber to fix the leak. I asked that plumber for an estimate to re-install the water heater with the code-related upgrades. That estimate - which included the code-related upgrades - came out to almost exactly what I paid Daniel Fish for the water-heater installation without the code-related upgrades. As such, I paid Daniel Fish more for less.
It should be obvious, but I will add that I was not particularly well respected by Daniel Fish. In addition to overriding me on just about everything, he made himself a little too comfortable in my home. When I locked certain doors around the house restricting his access, I was likened to a ""housewife."" It makes me wonder how I might have been treated if I had indeed been a woman of the house.
Lastly, many people have made comments here regarding magnetic water-softening technology being pushed by Daniel Fish. Save your money! Magnetic water-softening technology has been around for quite some time, but there is a reason it is not a state-of-the-art technology: Magnetic water-softening technology is rooted in pseudoscience. That's right. It's ""horsesh!t."" Check out this 20-year-old study by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory published by the U.S. Department of Energy: https://www.osti.gov/servlets/purl/567404 In summary: ""No beneficial effect was found when using the magnetic device.""
Mr. Fish, if you are reading this, I am still waiting for the invoice for the water heater. My water heater is excluded from my home warranty until I can provide a copy to the home warranty company.
*** Update ***
After about 3 weeks, Daniel Fish fulfilled my request for the water-heater invoice and a partial refund. While I appreciate both the invoice and the partial refund, the partial refund was fairly modest. I really wish he would have met me halfway due to the fact that I need to have the work redone.

My husband and I highly recommend Daniel Fish for ALL of your plumbing needs. Our hot water heater suddenly stopped working last night and my husband found him on yelp this morning knowing it needed to be replaced. He called him at 7AM and Daniel arrived just before 10AM, exactly as he said he would. Super service and extremely knowledgeable, not to mention very trustworthy and honest. He cares about his customers and it shows in the way he conducts himself. We asked about having our whole house repiped and he said he didn't think we need to spend that much money, he could just clean up the sloppy job the last guys did and that would fix our issues. He is clearly not looking to take people's money for nothing, just help his customers honestly and get paid for his time and knowledge. Thank you Daniel for your help today, you earned my trust and a new long term customer.

Quick response to my plumbing problem, had the job done in 15 minutes, fair price for the job. Nice guy too.....
