Jameson F.Don't use Curtis total service. They wanted to charge my older mother over $5,000 to replace a part that another local business did for $1,200. They are now suing my mother for a restocking fee on the part of over $700!
As far as I'm concerned they preyed on my mother. That was predatory behavior on someone who didn't know any better if I've ever seen it. Do your research first folks. Don't let Curtis total service take advantage of you.
Technician came over very nice man was professional. The problem is that he was at my house for over an hour and could not figure out the problem at first he said it was a coil and would cost me 2700 and then he said compressor was to hot and needed a new system but he was not 100% positive. He then placed a call to supervisor and they figured out I was low on freon and the system needed 2 pounds. Cost of the the repair came out to 485 and I has a 50 coupon which that seemed to up set the technician. I thought that was 2 much money and called the company next day and supervisor said that was going rate and somewhere in my system there is a leak which technician could not find. I had someone come over the next day and check and the freon is still holding, if there is a leak wouldn't it just leak out and show that the level is going down. As of now my AC is working better then it ever did. I am going to check the level every week to see. When I asked the supervisor if there is a leak how come no one can find it, no reply just some crap. There are some that believe that a system 10 years and older some times just need an extra boost but according to Curtis that is not true. I will keep in checking and if the level does not go down I will sent it to BBB.
This is the last company you want to call for HVAC work or any work at all. They installed a brand new AC system in my neighbors home. It was installed improperly and not to proper building codes which they are clueless about. The installers ran the AC line right up to the roof on a brick home to get it into the house because they had no idea what they were doing.
The system was installed early spring and when she went to use it last week, nothing. My neighbor called Curtis No Service they sent someone out and there was a hole in the line where it entered the house. The line was punctuated by a nail as she just had a new roof installed. The line was so close to the that the nail penetrated the line.
Curtis blamed the damage on the company that installed the roof and quoted $2100 to fix the damage. Building codes require AC Lines to be a certain distance or protected with steel from the roof.
Curtis refused to fix the problem. A professional HVAC company was able to fix the AC line for $500.
See you in court Matt.
Neida M.I bought my home in August 2011 we had an emergency with the pipes. We could not use the bathrooms . I called Curtis , let them know that we had an emergency situation. Was told someone would be out to look , it's 2019 (still waiting for someone to show up) . I have a service contract with Maitz awesome service and professional technicians ! I would recommend them to anyone , without hesitation !
James H.These guys were great. Fast to get a total a/c replacement after coming out to quote.
Guys were on time all 3 days and cleaned up perfectly after their work.
Absolutely no complaints with this team. We even had them back out today to get a quote on some electrical work.
I don't understand the other reviewers crying about price. They tell you the price before they do the work. Simply say no if you think it's too expensive. It's not the companys fault you agreed to a price then changed your mind.
As others have said below..... way over priced for their service!
They charged my mother, who lives alone, $2,000 for a 40g water heater that took the technician less then an hour and a half to install and costs no more then $600....! They said because they are a bigger company with overhead and all that needs to be the case and they are very competitive in pricing.....not by my opinion!!!
Note: From Bethlehem, PA... not CA.
Louise L.I have used Curtis for a number of issues relating to HVAC and Plumbing, but I realize after a visit last week, that I have probably been getting screwed over for a number of years. This last incident is what set me over the edge. My heat went out on the first floor unit only, and it was right before a pending snowstorm. Curtis came out first thing in the morning and the rep, Matt, proceeded to tell me that my 13 year old boiler was all rusted out and needed to be replaced. He said my unit was not a good system (side note, we had work done on it in December by 2 other companies and they both said it was one of the best boilers on the market). I had a hard time believing this was the case and refused to allow them to replace it, which would have cost over $9,000. He then offered to have his technicians come out to clean it and said it could probably help keep the system running for a few more months, but ultimately it looks like it needs to be replaced. I told him to get them to clean it and that was it. My hands were tied because it was snowing and I knew I would not have any luck finding another service company to come out that day. The tech that came to service and clean it after Matt left, told me that the system was running great and I shouldn't have any issues for years to come. I also called another plumber to come out and check the work a day later and he said that this system should be good for even longer than that, and explained that he sees a lot of companies claiming that their boilers need to be replaced so they can resell those units. I have zero faith and no trust in this company after what I witnessed. I now feel like I may not have had to do all of the prior work they did in the past for me and it may not have been necessary. I would never recommend this company even in an emergency.
These guys are amazing, Matt was awesome with helping me get the best financing, and he was very knowledgeable, professional, and extremely helpful. He explained everything to me. The install guys did great work, and they were respectful of me and my company. I highly recommend them!
How on earth can they justify $900 an hour to put turbo heater under a mobile home to thaw pipes
I am completely appalled by the way this company handles situations and people.
We called Curtis Total Service because we couldn't figure out the smell in our HVAC system. Yes, they were the first company to respond and get a technician out within hours, but that is about where the good experience ended.
The technician Matt showed up at our house and everything seemed normal. We just bought our home 7 months ago being told that our furnace is 2 years old. He took one look at our furnace and said, ""this unit is 20-30 years old, and is completely rusted out"" (not even looking at the unit). We instantly went into panic mode. He then began telling us everything that would have to be replaced.
Not knowing anything about HVAC systems, or furnaces for that matter, we asked him for a quote on what replacing the furnace and our chimney flue would cost. He quoted us at $9000 lowest $13000 highest, but couldn't know for sure until the final look was done.
Our hearts dropped! We just bought this house, and now it's a $13000 repair!? Matt then began throwing in that there's a snow storm coming, and we are going to freeze unless we get this furnace replaced in the next 2 days. He told us that we needed to turn our heat off for the night (it was 10 degrees out), or our house could blow up while we were sleeping.
We began calling other companies (while he was still there) and began looking for second opinions. We asked him to leave and that we would be in touch the next day once we were able to get more info. He charged us the $91 for the visit and left. So we ran out to buy space heaters.
At 6 am the next morning our 2nd opinion came. He walked us through our furnace unit and how it's brand new and in beautiful condition. He even took pictures of the unit to show his HVAC workers how Curtis tried to screw us over. He did not charge us for the visit even though he took our whole unit apart and showed us that there was no rust, and it was beautiful inside and out. We bought him lunch.
At 8 am, Matt contacted us apologizing for the wrong time frame on the furnace (after he did his own personal research), and said he could come out to replace the chimney instead. I politely declined his service and went straight to the company.
We were told that Matt is a new employee straight out of HVAC school, and this experience will be noted as a training exercise. The man who answered the phone made us aware that Matt is his son, and will not be refunding us ANY money for the visit because it was a standard charge for coming to our door. When we expressed our disgust, he said that nobody would care about the complaint, and we can contact whomever we like.
Please save yourself the money, emotional exhaustion, and anger by not hiring this company!!!!
I only gave a one star rating because a star has to be given in order to submit a review. They are not worth one star!!
