As a child, I watched my father repair everything around our home. Whenever we set something out for disposal, he would rescue it and fix it up. I remember a Christmas when he handmade a complete Santa Claus display with lights, placing it on our roof. To me, he was not only skilled but also a genius. I dreamed of emulating him, but being a girl in the 50s made that difficult. Thus, I buried my aspirations and went to college. I graduated at the top of my class, went to college, and then worked in Corporate America. In my spare time and on weekends, I developed my skills and explored different trades. For three decades, I worked on home improvement projects of every size and eventually established my own business—Concierge Renovations.
