In my youth, I admired my father's ability to repair anything and everything in our home. Whenever we set something out for disposal, he would rescue it and fix it up. One memorable Christmas, he created a full Santa Claus scene with lights and set it atop our roof. In my mind, he was not just handy but a true genius. Naturally, I aspired to be like him, but there was one obstacle—I was a girl. Consequently, I put my dreams on hold and focused on my college education. I graduated at the top of my class, went to college, and then worked in Corporate America. On weekends and during my free time, I practiced and learned a variety of trades. Over thirty years, I engaged in home improvement jobs of all types and ultimately created my own company—Concierge Renovations.
