In 1965, Eldred and Jo Ann Lewis established the business as Lewis Heating & A/C. Situated at 202 S Broadway in Larned, they provided quality Maytag appliances, Motorola TVs, and Coleman heating and cooling systems, along with servicing all brands. In 1971, they transitioned to their current site at 622 Topeka Street. In 1977, their son, Steven Lewis, joined the business as an HVAC technician. Steven purchased the business from his parents in 2008 and changed the name to Comfort Systems Inc. to signify the shift towards comfort and energy efficiency.

He is a licensed mechanical contractor and plumber in the State of Kansas. He is trained as a home energy rater and has been part of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society since 1992. Steven is also NATE certified in air distribution and duct installation.

A lifelong resident of Larned, KS, Steven graduated from Leadership Larned and served as a member and then Chair of the Building and Trades Board for the City of Larned. He is involved with the Fort Larned Lions Club, serving as Treasurer. Steven has taken on all leadership roles in the Club and has been District Governor, later elected as Council Chairman for the Lions of Kansas the next year.
