In 1965, Eldred and Jo Ann Lewis established the business as Lewis Heating & A/C. Situated at 202 S Broadway in Larned, they provided quality Maytag appliances, Motorola TVs, and Coleman heating and cooling systems, along with servicing all brands. In 1971, they transitioned to their current site at 622 Topeka Street. Their son, Steven Lewis, began working with the company as an HVAC serviceman in 1977. Steven purchased the business from his parents in 2008 and changed the name to Comfort Systems Inc. to signify the shift towards comfort and energy efficiency.

Steven is a licensed plumber and mechanical contractor in Kansas. He has received training as a home energy rater and has been a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society since 1992. Moreover, Steven holds NATE certification in duct installation and air distribution.

Steven, a lifelong resident of Larned, KS, is a Leadership Larned graduate and has served as a member and Chair of the Building and Trades Board for the City of Larned. Steven is a member of the Fort Larned Lions Club and currently holds the position of Treasurer. Steven has held all leadership roles within the Club and has served as District Governor, later being elected as Council Chairman for the Lions of Kansas the following year.
