Do not go to this place. I asked the guy to help pick out a space heater. I specifically told him I needed to heat a room. He assured me that it would. I purchased the heater and returned it the next day, only to have them point to a little sign which said No Returns. They don't care about customer loyalty just about making a quick buck. My credit card company is going to dispute this sale.

I had a horrible experience here. The guy working behind the counter was so rude. Every question I had seemed like I was pulling an answer out of his mouth, so unhelpful. Then, I tried to buy a doorknob and asked him if he thought it would fit my door (I described it all to him). He said it probably would. Then, after I paid the whole transaction (mind you my total was $60 and I calculated it, it could have been $40 at bed bath and beyond, but I chose to shop small because I want to support small business), I asked him if I could return it in its closed box (NOT OPENED) if I went home and saw the spindle looked different. He said ""no, we don't take doorknobs back, and we don't to exchanges."" I asked, ""even if it hasn't been opened?"" He said yes, with little to no empathy. Then, I asked who the manager is and he wouldn't tell me, and I told him they have pretty bad business practices and that if they want to stay open they shouldn't charge 2x as much as bed bath and beyond for their products. And that they should accept at least exchanges or give credits. He told me I'm wrong for mentioning the BB and B thing in the most apathetic voice ever. I've never dealt with such a rude, disinterested guy before. Never coming back here ever again.

Avoid this place. I bought an item here that immediately broke. It was a laundry bag and the drawstring did not work during my first attempt at filling it (halfway). When the laundromat tried to seal it with another rope the cheap material tore. This was its ONLY use and they wouldn't refund me because I had taken it from the packaging.... Awful quality and terrible service for bad goods.

Bottom line: they do not care about customer loyalty or customer service, shop elsewhere and skip the attitude.

I've shopped here quite a bit over the last 8 years, despite significantly overpriced hardware, because it is conveniently close. after 2 recent incidents, I will never, ever give them my money again.

1. bought a door weather-stripping kit that had an open package. asked clerk about it, he said ""its all there"". Was wrong size so I came back 4 hours later to exchange it for correct size. Same clerk said we do not accept open packages for return...

2. bought some minwax stain and poly. returned the next day to exchange unopened cans for different color. clerk said we don't do paint returns. I reminded him that this is stain, not mixed paint. he said no returns. I asked why he didn't tell me at the point of purchase. he said you didn't ask...

So, I don't need this big-box BS attitude from a ""family owned"" store. I'm spending my money at Iglarsh up the street and I recommend you do as well.

With this type of customer interactions they are going to drive themselves out of business, and frankly I hope they do.

As a 20+ year resident of the neighborhood I'm sad to say I'll never set foot in this place again. Prices are exorbitant and they treat customers terribly. They refused to exchange an item that had the wrong specs, even though I had purchased it the day before (for 10x the price on Amazon) and the packaging was undamaged. The manager was super nasty. What's up with their ridiculous store policies? In the age of the Internet the one advantage of stores.is convenience and customer service. I guess they get all their business from contractors because they are so unfriendly to even longtime neighborhood clientele. The hardware store.on 101 st. is much better, I'll be going there.from now on even though it's farther away. I recommend you shop elsewhere.

I just had an awful experience in this store! Horrible return policy! There is no appreciation for customer service! And I was told the manager would be in tomorrow at noon - not very convenient for anyone who works. This is not the first time we have had a bad experience in there - shame on me for being dumb enough to go back!

Very high pricing, and they don't back up the goods they sell.
I bought a fan that died in less than 30 days, and they told me to contact the manufacturer.
I also recently bought a pack of 4 GE bulbs, installed them in 2 separate overhead fixtures. Within 2 days the bulbs blew 2 at a time, on successive days. All had the same burn mark in the same location. They of course blamed my light fixtures, and didn't care that this hadn't/hasn't happened before or since. It's worth the walk to go to the other nearest hardware store. BTW, I had been a regular customer buying air conditioners and other big items, despite the high prices, for convenience sake. They didn't seem to care a bit about losing a good customer. Thumbs completely down.

I've been a building superintendent in this neighborhood for thirty years
and I'm appreciative of the large and diverse stock that is contained in there little store. I've found that if they don't have what you want then even stores like Home Depot may not have it either.

The owners and associates are great they are patient, polite and very knowlegable of there trade.

The prices are competitive for the neighborhood and I have never had a problem that they couldn't resolve to everyones satisfaction.

They pack a lot into a small space. Prices are on the better side of these bodega-like hardware stores too, I think. I got a shower liner for $4! I was in and out in a jiffy.
