I'd give 2.5 stars if possible.

The good: The appointment process was easy and prompt. The repair technician called first thing in the morning to advise the service time window, and he arrived early in that timeframe. He immediately diagnosed the simple cause of our problem which required a very simple solution. The control knob on our GE dryer had become hung up on a piece of plastic adhesive that probably should have been removed before installation and had cracked on the inside.

The bad: All that was needed was a new control knob which would have to be ordered, take 7-10 days and be installed by a repair technician in a second service appointment. Over $250 to pull off a plastic knob and push on a new plastic knob. We declined the ""repair"" and paid $89 for the service call.

The ugly: Within five minutes of the technician leaving, we had located the replacement part on the internet for less than $20. The tech also needed to use our private internet service in order to complete the estimate which we thought was inappropriate.

I accidentally bent the vegetable bin in my Thermador refrigerator and couldn't close the door. Called Thermador who wouldn't be able to send someone out for a week and a half. I asked if they knew of someone local and they recommended Carter Services. Kent came out on a couple of hours, fixed the rail, cleaned the dirty coils, and replaced the water filter. Money well-spent! Professional service from office to technician!

We have been a customer several times over the years and usually satisfied. Not at all happy this time. Hinges for a Kitchenaid oven which are on line for $33 each but with the house call, labor rate at $290 the bill was over $420. Paid half up front but the second half went up! How is this possible? Parts cost was his answer, which made no sense. Of course he asked me to sign the invoice twice, one was the quote, which he revised after the fact.

Disappointed in our recent service. Tech charged $89.90 for ""the trip out"" plus $99 to diagnose our heating system. Eventually recommended we replace an $800 part. Decided to get a second opinion from AirWorks in Torrance. Turns out a $200 part solved the problem. I called Carter for an explanation, but no call back.

So responsive and accommodating on a Sunday. Very knowledgeable and kind technician. He made sure to keep within my hour window knowing I was paying extra for emergency off-hours service. I'm not sure how Carter Services compares price-wise to ""Joe's Plumbing"" but I would definitely pay extra for them and will use them again.

Carter helped me with plumbing & electrical. I had 3 appointments and interacted with 3 of them. The guys were clean and professional. The work was done quickly and they paid close attention to leaving my place in a cleaner manner than when they arrived - I'm in renovation mode in the kitchen so it's a bit out of sorts.

I had my old water heater switched out for an Eco Smart tankless. It works perfectly!

I highly recommend them. If you contact them for electrical, ask for Jeremy Ellertson. You won't be disappointed! Stellar customer service.
