Recommended Customer Reviews
I had a double problem, one with the microwave and one with the oven. Winson came out promptly, was very friendly and professional, and obviously VERY knowledgeable. He diagnosed my problems and presented me with solutions, and dealing with him was extremely pleasant and informative. The cost was very reasonable.
I would definitely call Carter Services and ask for Winson, if I have problems in the future.
I called Carter Services a few months ago because the water dispenser on my GE fridge was not working and water was leaking out under the fridge. The repair guy they sent had a really snotty attitude but whatever. He 'repaired"" the tubing by snipping off the damaged part and reattaching it and he charged me $189. A couple months later, guess what? You got it - more water leaking onto my floor. Same guy came out again, snipped off a little more and told me that if it happened again, I would need to buy a new fridge. Well it did happen again but this time, I called Smith Bros. Appliance Repair. They came out the same day and their guy replaced the entire length of tubing. He told me that a lot of repair guys don't carry that stuff around in their trucks so they do a snip job in hopes that will solve the problem. Only bad thing is it cost me another $190. Live and learn I guess.
Peter G.Very expensive, but got it right the first time. They charged $312 for a $20 part. Rest was for labor. Took one hour. Did not leave old part as requested. Should have shopped around.
I used Carter Services and had a great experience. The tecnichian was professional, and it was obvious he knew what he was talking about. I felt like I received excellent customer service which unfortunately is rare these days. My dishwasher was repaired and runs like new and he also gave me some tips to keep it running smoothly for many years to come. I will definitely call them again and refer them to all my friends.
What a joke! Charged $60 to come out then quoted $208 to replace oven door handle screws! I believe the only one who got screwed was me! i gave them there $60 and told them to hit the road! You got my $60 but lost all my business. When i was dealing with liberty for many years buying all my appliances and repair, never have i had a problem! Nothing but a rip off!
Jan H.Our GE built in refrigerator was not working properly and we called Carter Service on a recommendation from someone. They diagnosed the problem and fixed it, charging us $750 and taking about 2 weeks to fix it. Rather than really figuring out the problem, they simply replaced the most expensive part in the system. Fast forward four months of defrosting the freezer every week, they finally replaced two thermocouples (total parts cost of $50), and refused to refund us the charges for their incorrect work. They did, however, send us a coupon for ONE FREE SERVICE CALL!! Value $70.
DON'T DO IT, DON'T USE THEM.
The last two times I have called them to come out and look at an appliance I have ended up with an inflated repair quote. I honestly believe that this is their gimmick. Charge $69.90 for the visit. Offer a ridiculous repair quote and walk away. They quoted me $700 to repair my hood vent and over $900 to repair my cooktop!!!! No thank you!!!!
Tiffany L.I'd love to say I had a great experience with them the times I've used them, but everytime I think about Carter Services, I want to cringe. Carter's customer service motto is"" Over promise and under deliver, keep the customer waiting and get mad at them if they don't like it.""
Viking recommended Carter for warranty repair to replace a faulty door hinge and gasket on my refrigerator. The door hinge was installed incorrectly and the gasket was the wrong one. The repair guys said they would re-order the correct gasket and return to install it. After three failed attempts, I gave up, and got rid of the fridge. Three or Four separate appointed days of waiting 3 hours each time for them and Carters just couldn't get it right.
Recently my dishwasher went haywire, and my contractor said to call Carters. I was gunshy but called. Kevin on the phone was snarky and dismissive. It's time to move on and find a new appliance repair company!
D L.I had them installed a major appliance at home and I found them to be friendly and helpful. The installation was done right and clean. The service guy was helpful and answer all my questions. Pricing was ok. I don't think they are the cheapest around here. But the job was done professionally. I will use them again for future services.
First of all, I had some reservations after reading the reviews. We have a ""U-Line Wine Cooler) (small refrigerator), that was flashing an error code. The U-Line website indicated that Carter Services had received specialized training and had proper tools to service U-Line equipment. They are the closest repair company to our place. I called and spoke to a appointment taker, they asked a few questions and then gave me a 4 hr window for the appoint. Also, there is a $69 service charge to come out. He also said the technician would call to verify a day before the appt. That all happened as mentioned. The Tech came early in the afternoon (maybe first in the 4 hr. window). The tech diagnosed the problem as a defective fan motor. (The unit was still running but not cooling very well plus indicating code ""E5"".)
The Tech gave an estimate of $300 to replace the fan motor. (I expected that they would have to order the part and return to install in a few days.) I was very surprised when the Tech said he had one in his truck! I authorized the repair. The Tech came back with a thin board to protect the floor as the unit needed to be removed from its enclosure. It took about 15-20 minutes to complete the replacement and reinstall the unit in its enclosure. Total cost $309 and still working fine. (12 days after repair).
The reason I did not give a 5 star rating is the price. I have no way of knowing whether the repair price is reasonable or not. I think thats where most consumers are at a disadvantage. For a repair like this, we are not (usually) going to ask 3 different repair companies to give us a quote for the repair!
Based on this experience, I am a satisfied consumer.
