We had carter come out from our home warranty company for a slab leak in one of the bed rooms. They came out on Thursday 1/30/2014 tore up the cement in the room and left us with no water. They couldn't finish that day but would be back the next day first thing. They wanted us to give them a check for 250.00 the difference of what wasn't covered. We refused because the job wasn't completed yet. So all was good. Friday comes and goes and nothing we left six message with the office and all we got was the answer machine. No one ever called us. We went five days with out water. What kind of company are you to leave someone with no water for five days. This is outrageous no one ever ever responded back. We were able to get another company and they bend over backward for us. Kudos to Bonney Plumbing to save the day. If anyone is reading this we have reported the to BBC. Tell your warranty company you don't want there service. They can request another company. If I could They would get a zero.

I really wonder about the positive reviews because they all read the same! Do not let these people in your home! They strongarmed my friend into thinking several costly repairs were needed, and when the technician left a water line loose, it gushed water all over--the owner of the company questioned my friend inferring she was lying---I guess he felt safe berating her because she's an older thin lady... I can only repeat, DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE IN YOUR HOME!!! Tell the home warranty to send someone else, and maybe they should read Yelp!

February 2014 - We were given Carter Plumbing by our home warranty. it started out strong as they came out on a Sunday. They had to order a part and told us they would call. more than a week later we hadn't heard anything so I called and she didn't have any updates. miraculously little more than an hour later they called to schedule me a return appointment. We set the appointment for Friday 10-2. Friday came and went and they were a no show. I was working Monday when I get a call from a technician saying he was there at my house. I am very positive I scheduled this for the previous Friday not Monday. So I call them on Tuesday morning to ""reschedule"" yet again and there were no apologies or explanations, Just a curt lets get your re-scheduled.
Honestly I know these things can happen so I might have let it go, but based on their reviews clearly they have a major issue. Once on site our Tech- Andy, was excellent. But they need some serious help in the scheduling/administration department.

Old Republic sent out Carter Plumbing to fix a faucet in my sink. Did they? No. Lazy guy didn't even turn on the faucet or the water. Said it wasn't covered by my plan. Still had to pay $60 for the service call. Very upset at Carter Plumbing as well as Old Republic. Would not recommend either. Now I am fighting with Old Republic because they were aware of the situation and said it was covered. Be careful when purchasing a home protection plan as it is a rip off. This is the fourth issue I have had with my new home and NONE of them have been covered by the warranty.

This company is a joke. We were contracted through our home warranty as so many other people have. It took three weeks before they could come to our house in El Dorado Hills since they are only in the area once a week and need a 6 hour window. We had several issues, first, a hose bib with a stripped handle, second, our hot water was not very hot for how high our hot water heater was turned up, third, we had an extremely slow leak in a bath tub faucet and even less hot water in that tub, fourth, we had lukewarm water in our cold water lines (even in January). After 2 hours they fixed the the hose bib (yay), told us the hot water heater is fine (which it is because another issue was causing a lack of hot water), said they would order a new diverter for the leaking tub (no water should be getting to the diverter of the tub in the first place), and said there is no reason for the lukewarm water in our cold water line and there is nothing that can be done about that. I did a google search for warm water in the cold water line and it said a likely culprit is a leaking shower or tub valve but I thought that maybe the plumber knows more that me about the issue (guess not).

Well we waited and waited (3 months) for them to contact us to replace the tub diverter like they said they would. Finally called the warranty people (we had a baby so dealing with plumbers was low on our priority list) and they indicated that Carter Plubming closed our ticket the day they came out and never ordered any parts even though our paper ticket from Carter indicates that we have a ""faulty diverter"" and would ""check solutions against coverage"". (Sounds like an open ticket to me)

Finally called D Martel plumbing. He was here the next day (over the holidays) in a 2 hour window (showed up exactly at the begining of the 2 hour window). Listened to our issues and said there is really only one thing it could be and it would fix all of our problems. He repaired the tub water control valve with parts he had in his truck. Took 30 minutes. Now, since the valve is not allowing hot water to backflow into the cold water line at the tub, the hot water is hotter, the cold water is actually cold, the tub no longer leaks, and that tub gets hot water again.

If possible, I would give ZERO stars. This company was contracted to repair our master bath toilet in SEPTEMBER 2013. They said they needed to order a part. It is now DECEMBER 2013 and the repair has not been made... even though they collected the $60 service fee. Husband called them to inquire as to status of our repair and the receptionist was rude. Since September, we have not received any calls, emails, or mail regarding our repair.

Update: the repair was made today. They initially saw the problem on September 15th. It came out today that they never had to order a part; it was sitting on a shelf the WHOLE time.

Do your homework, folks, and see that this company has an F from the Better Business Bureau. Shocked that AHS contracts with companies that have that kind of score. Just goes to show what kind of people AHS will send to your house.

Problem with home water heater on Sunday pm. American Home Shield (home policy) referred me to Carter Plumbing. Looked them up and saw many bad reviews & noted that you show them at an address in Lincoln, CA. I was apprehensive due to the reviews. They showed up on time the next day and fixed the problem. Their plumber, John, was very professional, clean, and very helpful. I was very impressed and I would use them again. Their invoice reflects they are located at 6408 Silkwood Way, Citrus Heights, CA at 916-745-4989 with State Lic #362508. Greg K.

Rather skeptical after reading reviews, but it was the company assigned by AHS, so I was stuck. Though the gentleman was late with no call, he promptly and efficiently cleared my garbage disposal without having to replace it. I could have had a new one, but as long as it works, this one is perfect. Kudos to Carter Plumbing. Improve the phone support, keep customers in the loop, and ratings should go up as the skill was great.

I was really nervous about this company because of all of the negative reviews. Like many other people, I have AHS and so I ""had"" to use Carter Plumbing when my toilet began to leak. Carlos, the plumber, showed up within the time frame on a Saturday and quickly fixed the problem. He was very professional and, as an added bonus, had a pleasant personality. When he had to remove the toilet to fix the flange beneath it he asked if I had any cleaning supplies that he could use to go ahead and disinfect the area for me. He spent 20+ minutes cleaning all the ick that had gathered over the years. I doubt that was in his job description. I was very impressed.

Assigned through Fidelity Home Warranty. Sept-2013, no real problem, assessed and fixed the problem. However, the tech walked on my white carpet without booties, and left a moderate mess in the tub and bathroom. I had to wash the bath rugs that he could have easily moved instead of tracking on them, and scour the tub. Fast forward 10/29/13, same tech shows up unannounced, no prior call, to assess current water heater issue. He rudely made an assumption as to my marital status, totally inappropriate. Also, when I asked if the $60 payment/deductible would go towards entire job, he curtly replied, ""no, that just for me knocking on your door."" Carter's customer service needs a huge improvement.
