California Pool Service offers pool maintenance, pool cleaning, and support for property managers in the Artesia area.
I have been in the pool business for around over two decades.
My original pool company was Oasis Swimming Pools, and I ran it as a single operator. I took care of appointments, invoicing, billing statements, and complaints; it’s safe to say I handled it all!
Then, I took over California Pools & Chemicals from my longtime friend Gary, and it’s been a wild ride ever since!
Paul and California Pool Service have been serving the pool cleaning and chemical business for over.
A native of Southern California, Paul has been enjoying a happy marriage for over.
Paul is a dedicated business owner who will individually ensure that you and your pool receive the best attention and that you are 100 percent satisfied!

I have the worse experience in my life I'm a customer for the last 25 years everything started like 4 years ago my pool started to get green in summer so I bought new pool vacuum and still the green would not go away so I bought an other vacuum and including a new filter and new motor within a 1 1/2 year ago , so for the last 5 months I started to have same problem again , last year I bought last robot vacuum everything is new I painted the pool change water
So i called this company to complain again the send me a new guy to check he said the chemicals That they were putting weren't enough to kill the Algae so nothing . they ended u saying that they aren't making money with the service that they are Providing to me that my pool filter is not clean
That is ok with them if I want to cancel the service ,that they will give me credit for the month . this new owner
Has not respect or try to call and give any solution to the problem , doesn't know anything about customer service doesn't care about losing business is not About getting a month as a credit is honestly they way all this Company operates is not right , I can't believe how easy people disrespect a faithful customer for probably more that 40 years or more counting with the previous owner and get treated like that because was not even a conversation at all Manager Debbie or the new Owner sounded so sarcastic to me .

Horrible, HORRIBLE customer service. I received my bill, called to pay it, to find out they blindly charged me $120 for ""annual water softener"" when I DID NOT approve or know anything about it. My bill statement shows one month pool service fee and nothing else. But apparently they ""sent a letter stating they would be charging me."" (Why is that not on my monthly statement?) No. No, I did NOT receive a letter. They blindly charged me and told me now i have to pay it, when in fact, i had to pay extra 6 months ago (when I started) for ""annual water softener."" It has not even been a year. I was talking to a woman who answered the phone and was trying to have her explain this to me, she was so rude and had an attitude the entire conversation. She would talk over me and not let me finish my sentence and when I told her how ridiculous that was to charge someone without their consent, she again stated ""we sent a letter."" I told her I want to cancel, she again, had an attitude and did not try to rectify to situation. (Apparently losing customers isn't a problem for them ?) She was not helpful, nice or polite. This company (even according to other reviews) clearly needs to invest in some customer service classes.

There are many places where you can get pool service from where the staff won't yell at you by typing in all caps (claming they don't know all caps is rude and unprofessional) and telling you to use another business if you question them about incoherent explanations). Horrible customer service experience!

Thank you for the bad customer service on the replaster and tile coping and the deck o seal plus all the cement work that you did. With in the frist month cement has cracks in it, also around some of coping /deck o seal big gaps from coping to the edge of cement filled in besides the deck o seal with home depot cement that cracked right away bad cover up work spoke with Paul the so called owner which he told me that was a normal occurrence for the cement and tried to sell me more on the cement work around there fill in work at the coping edge almost $8000 more for there crappy job. Gray was our salesperson the ex owner, but dealing with Paul is like non existent so much for their 10 year guarantee.

Not dependable, don't come in weeks.Put grids In without asking & some wasn't needed.To charge extra cost.Could care less for customers. Not recommended. Rating is 0

Deric came out and was very pleasant, inspected our spa and told me he would provide an estimate within a few days. 2 weeks later, nothing. I call him and he said the owner was on vacation and they were not going to provide us with an estimate. I dont know why. Maybe they dont like re-plastering small 8x8 spas and only looking for larger jobs?

Ever since they changed owners there has been nothing but failures.....creepy crawly installed incorrectly....pumps they fixed leaking n getting charged for that job twice! Pool guy that doesn't know what he's doing because he's fairly new they say n yet the more veteran one put a brick down my pump to hold the creepy from popping out! The new owner does not care! After 15 years of being with this company it is now clear it's time to change! Save your money go somewhere else!

We are so disappointed in this company. We paid them, upfront, for a remodel. We were happy in the beginning but after a few months the color of the plaster (blue) changed colors (now gray)
We have tried to get them to come out to check it out. They did say they needed to research the problem and would get back to us. We are still waiting after numerous calls (over a months time) We should have known they didn't believe in their own product since they had us sign a waiver of any change of discoloration.
Do not do business with this company, you will be disappointed and out a lot of money and be ignored. they are obviously hoping we will go away! Bad owner ethics! Do your research and be happy when doing such a big project.

I've been with California Pool for almost 18 years. And until this year I was very happy. But in the last 2 months their service has just diminished. My creepy crawly does not work, one which they installed, and to this day they have yet to fix it. I call on a daily basis, they send someone when someone is available and they all come make it work for 5 minutes, take video of it working and leave. Next day not working again. Its the middle of June and my pool is turning yellow! I've finally decided its time to change to a new company.

We had our pool remodeled by Calif pool and chemical about a year and a half ago. That turned out to be a disaster! We chose Gary because he showed up on time , seemed honest, brought samples for us to look at, which we did not know at the time that these samples were very bad quality materials. My husband and Gary hit it off right away, as they have a lot of the same interest (fishing) Gary always wanted to talk about anything but the pool.
We were told the job would take 3 weeks, but it took 41/2 months. Gary said it was because of rain. We had a lot more sunny days than rainy days. There were many many sunny days that no one would show.
In the 55 years we have had this pool we never had a broken tile or coping. In less then 6 months there is a broken tile and the coping is falling apart. If you stand back from the pool it looks great, but get close and you see all kinds of problems. I got in the pool a few months after it was finished to clean the tile and found one broken tile that you can not see from outside the pool. We have told Gary about this and he has done nothing.
When they started the job they dug a long ditch for the new gas line for the spa. After the gas line was in they did not fill in the ditch. Dirt and mud was everywhere. I ask them to fill it in but they kept saying tomorrow. Tomorrow never happen. They also had sand concert and other supplies delivered to our driveway by mistake that was not for our job. It was there for weeks. The concret bags broke open and spilled all over our paverd driveway and our stucco up the side of our house. They would not clean up the messes until we told them we would not make the next payment. They tried to clean the driveway but it would not all come out of the pavers. They left dirt piled up on the other side of our house so long that it stained the stucco and will not wash off.
We have a very large yard and there is plenty of room to put their supplies and tools, yet they left stuff everywhere. We have a large upper deck where the pool is and a lower area where the kids swing set , toy box , kids table and chairs are. At first we told the kids not to play on the upper pool deck because of the mess and danger. Then they piled stuff in the kids play area. I found a razor blade on a pile of boxes they put under the kids swing set. After that the kids could not play in the back yard at all.
I had a large flower garden that they completely destroyed. There was plenty of room for them to work and stay out of my garden. I found more razor blades wood, chunks of concrete , food and more in my garden. They would eat lunch in the yard and leave their leftover on the table. I would ask them to put the trash in the trash cans because the raccoons would come at night and make a mess with their trash all over the yard , they had to be told everyday. . We have a plain concret deck around the pool, and while spraying the pebble tech they set up tripods to hold up the sprayers, but they put nails in the decking to hold the tripod. When they pulled the nails they pulled small chunks of concrete and now we have about 20 holes in the decking. All Gary would say is he did not know why they did it that way.
We had a salt water system put in, and we did not know why we were still having to add tons of chemicals to the pool. We found out they put a used system in that did not work. They did fix that problems. We have always taken care of our pool ourseleves and wanted to still take care of it ourselves, so 3 times we asked Gary what we had to do different than a chlorine pool. He would not answer us and would change the subject as he always did if there was any problem. He never fixed anything that was broken or replaced anything that went missing like our pool pole and sweep.our large loopers our hose and sprayer our new trash cans(I did get them back because I caught them loading them in their truck.
Our neighbor was always mad at us because they would park in front of her driveway , I would ask them to move every day.
We told Gary we would not make the final payment until they came clean up the huge mess they left our yard. Two guys came and did a half ass job and only picked up a few drink bottles and trash I had to tell them to get rid of the pile of dirt they left on the grass, which they kind of leveled off a bit. I had to finish cleaning and fixing all the things in my yard that they made a mess of. I could go on and on about all the problems we had but I am tired of writing
We are so unhappy with Gary and Paul, and I would not tell anyone to use them. We have made many calls and waited for a very long time. Nothing is happening. If they ever call back and make things right I will write again and let you know.
