We had what looked like a relatively easy plumbing/sewer fix and I got a few quotes. Other guys said 'we gotta dig it all up, it's going to cost $$' but CA Discount was able to fix it the easy way (barely any digging, put a new 2"" inside the old 3"") at a reasonable price. Communication was great, with both the manager and the workers. I would use them again for any plumbing needs.

Like you, I reached out to every plumber on Yelp in the East Bay area for a quote for a sewer lateral replacement. What I discovered is the more reviews a company had, the larger the organization they were, and the more money they charged.

California Discount Rooter and Plumbing is a diamond in the rough. A well run small business, which means you get personal service and the best price. Rene (the owner) was responsive every step of the way. They took care of all the permitting, putting up signs to block off the street, EBMUD inspection and replacing the concrete they dug up. Rene took care of all the steps.

This was a great company to work with and I've recommended CDRP to my realtor so he can get more business. You should give him yours too.

I was looking for someone to do a sidewalk inspection/estimate to comply with the Oakland ordinance - I wrote California Discount Rooter & Plumbing a message via Yelp and was asked for my contact information. I replied, waited a day, and didn't receive a response. I tried calling then just to expedite things, and was told to text them my address and they would come out the following day to take a look. I texted, then waited another day hearing nothing, then texted again to ask if they were really going to come out. They responded and said that they would come out and send me a quote the next day. Another day passed and still nothing. I understand when things are busy and maybe their quality of work is great, but the communication provided was not confidence-inspiring.

We recently bought a house in the Oakland hills and needed to get a private sewer lateral certification. I spoke with several sewer companies that are highly rated on Yelp and all of them recommended that I do a replacement costing anywhere from 5-8k.

Rene came to do an estimate and after running the camera he told me that we can try to do the PSL certification test without the replacement.

His people did an air pressure test to make sure it would pass, then they scheduled the official inspection and we passed the test.
