My most recent water bill was huge so I went looking for leak detection companies. I called a couple but only Chris Cruz called me back, the same day. Before coming out he gave me tips to narrow down where the leak might be and with his help we were able to identify one of our toilets as the issue. It had a faulty flap and once that was replaced the leak disappeared. Chris was so helpful and responsive, if I could give him more than 5 stars I would! Highly recommend.

So we had a leak near our front door. It looked like it was coming from under the house where a toilet was exactly inside. I called quite a few people before Chris identified the issue. First our normal plumber. He couldn't access the crawl space under the toilet. So I called American Leak Detection: No Joy so I'm now down $650. It wasn't a waste, they found 3 other leaks, but not anything near the problem spot. I ended up tearing out the floor near the toilet to create a crawl space opening. Again, no joy. The HVAC system was in the way. I called another plumber I respected and used (Sunnyvale Plumbing) they also couldn't determine the issue. They referred me to Chris.

As soon as I contacted him, even though he is usually booked out for a week, he was able to stop by my house that afternoon. He asked a couple of questions and after telling him everything that happened, he deduced it wasn't a leak but a natural spring seeping out. He pointed out the algae that was growing where the water was pooling and said that if that was treated city water algae wouldn't grow that easy. He also identified a spring across the court that was spilling out in all its glory with tons of algae. And here I thought someone was overzealous in watering their lawn as there are a lot of houses uphill of us. Apparently, springs popping up happens all over the area, especially in the foothills where we live.

Well, that started to make sense and he suggested I call SJ Water to come test for chlorine in it. They confirmed it wasn't treated. They also confirmed there were springs reported at two other properties on the court.

I feel like if I had gone with them first instead of American Leak Detection, I could have saved a lot of time and money. This family has been doing this for many, many years. Unlike American Leak Detection they are not a huge operation with technicians that they train to come out and do troubleshooting by the numbers. I'm not sure if the Chris that came out was Father or Son, but I'm sure it doesn't matter.

Don't get me wrong. American Leak Detection is ok, I've used them more than once and don't have any complaints. But if you want better than OK, call up these guys!

7 years ago, we had a leak in our front yard. A landscape company and a plumbing company that we hired took turns to dig around the yard without being able to diagnose the source of the leak. I reached out to Chris and scheduled an appointment. Before his team came, I noticed that the leak continued after we turned off the water main. I contacted Chris again who suggested that the leak may not be from our property and we should contact the water company first. He was totally right. The water company came out and fixed the problem the next day. Chris' free advice over the phone saved us from destroying the front yard and wasting a lot of money. Fast forward to last week, we heard water running but no one was using water. I reached out to Chris for help. He managed to squeeze me in for an appointment the next day. He and his partner showed up early and were able to detect the leak under the house within 15 minutes (They didn't even have to go down the crawl space!) Instead of charging me the 2 hour minimum fee that I had agreed to over the phone, he only charged me for 1 hour. Strongly recommend Chris and his company for their expertise and kindness.

Chris responded to our request to survey a property for existing utilities within 3 hours. He was able to schedule a site visit within the week and even notated the existing utility locations on our drawings because owner did not want the property to have spray painted on lawn, sidewalk, etc. Thank you Chris and look forward to working with you again soon!
