Based on the glowing reviews on Yelp, I called Buckhead and two other highly-rated plumbers for an estimate on running a gas line to my new gas grill. The other two came out and gave me genuinely estimates. Both were around $600.00. Buckhead was too lazy to come out and look, so they gave me an estimate over the phone, after asking me many questions. Their estimate? They said it would cost """"about"""" $1000.00, """"but it could go to $1300.00! Yeah; they're in Buckhead, so I'd expect them to charge more, but twice as much?!? I think not. So between the laziness and the ridiculous price, I won't be calling Buckhead again.

Just wanted to chime in here with my experience with Steve. I had a really bad experience similar to others on here. So Steve gets his customers by being quick to respond. I was on the fence using him because I saw some negative reviews on here. Should have gone with my gut. But he was quick to come out and I thought maybe this guy just had some growing pains in his business. What I can conclude is 1.) He hires people who are not licensed when he claims they are, at least when it comes to plumbing. 2.) Like others, you might get lucky and he might have a guy that knows enough to get the job done. However, if you are one of the unlucky ones prepare for disaster. 3.) Expect his prices, at least with plumbing, to be about 30% higher than a big name company in plumbing. He also will quote a price and then change it after the work is done by not just a few dollars but 15% or more than the already inflated 30%. In may case, I am skilled and know what work and labor are and knew I was being gouged already, so I kept him to his original quote. 4.) If you have a problem with Steve, yes he is responsive, but no he doesn't take responsibility for the shotty work his people do. Or at least isn't that sympathetic. He is very defensive. 5.) He only gives three months warranty on his work where most plumbing companies give a 1 year warranty. So to my experience, I had him come out and repair a ceiling leak. Wasn't too bad but had a feeling it was something easy to fix. Turns out one if his guys opened our ceiling and the builder had not capped a drain that should have been capped. Okay, no big deal. The problem is the job wasn't done correctly and after he left I had an enormous leak. The guy who did the work didn't even turn the water on to test. Because when I did a few days later in our guest bathroom, we had a nightmare of leaks with water running down our ceiling joists. Terrible terrible Terrible experience. I had already had the ceiling repaired from the leak so not only did I have a leak 5 times worse than what started but I had already repaired my beautiful ceiling. Steve was responsive. When I wasn't happy knowing that this had been shotty work done he kept saying we do the best we can don't be upset yada yahda The appropriate response for any business owner that is competent should have I am so sorry for what you have gone through, This is terrible I feel very bad this has happened we will be right out to repair not only the issue but the ceiling too. It will be done correctly and I will over see it's done right. YOU WILL NOT GET THIS RESPONSE WITH STEVE. ONCE HE HAS YOUR MONEY, YOU ARE SCREWED!!! So Steve did come out. We opened the ceiling and low and behold shotty work was done. My drain line was cut and left open and it was spilling sewage into my ceiling from the guest bathroom upstairs. After much pushing, Steve agreed to fix the damage to my ceiling. He said his new guy had experience doing this and they could get it all right. With Steve it's all lies with him. They don't know what they are doing when it comes to plumbing or sheetrock work. I had to get the repair professional done. 4 weeks later, I came home to a my ceiling leaking again after the 2nd repair. I am attaching the picture of the repair. Now you will see an arrow in red. This is what was discovered by my new plumber. No purple meaning they didn't even glue one side of the elbow they used and dry installed this. Sickening work from this guys. The other side does have purple so this is what you will get half ass work from them if you are that one 3 customers he services. Who knows if the other work he does even holds for other customers for more a year. Wouldn't be surprised if others who have written positive reviews have problems later. I texted Steve letting him know his second repair did not work and four weeks later I now have a huge mess leak in my house. He never texted back, no warranty no response no refund. I reached out to Greenlee Plumbing and have had excellent service. I am not staying Steve may not be licensed. I am not saying that things don't happen and sometimes contractors screw up. I am saying that a solid company with a warranty that fixes the damage they made worse and repairs anything that was damaged due to imperfect work, should be a no brainer for a business that is looking to have a good reputation in the industry. Even if you have to lose money for the mistake you made with a customer two or three times, you should be doing everything to try and resolve it and be very apologetic to the mess that made for the customer who in good faith, hired you believing you would provide great quality and service and have their back. Steve Malone is the owner of Buckhead Plumbing and does have other companies when I looked him up. I will be complaining on the BB and adding to any other reviews I can because this has cost me 15 plus hours of headaches out of my life and absolutely mess of money.

I would never use this company again! We had a few months of annoyance with them. Summer time they put in new unit and it was working fine. They even ask us to give a recommendation. Later we turned the heat on for winter that's when all our problems started. The unit kept reversing from air and heat. Steve sent the same guy to fix it and he kept making things worse. I HAD to call him myself to get him to come check it out. Honestly the whole time I had to call him for any help. I was more the boss then he was. After two blown thermostats and a switchboard it worked okay. Now we still don't get very good air upstairs and the MOST important is they never hooked back up a critical piece of equipment to GA power credit program box. This job was a joke and I didn't want to write this but there are still so many problems with our AC system. A added bonus I had Steve hold a $100 payment to make sure it would work after. He never took it out until 3 months later. No call to tell us!!!

I called Steve at 9 AM on a Saturday morning. By 3 PM that day, everything had been fixed and his price was more than reasonable. I would recommend Buckhead Plumbing & HVAC all day long and I will definitely be using Steve moving forward. Best customer service I have ever experienced.

The good: I called Steve on a Friday morning with an emergency - water was leaking from the kitchen sink through the floor into the room below. He had someone there within a couple of hours who diagnosed and fixed the leak. The not so good: As part of the fix, a hole had to be cut in the drywall ceiling of the room below the leak. As it needed to dry before it could be fixed, it required a return visit. I was told they could come back the following week to patch it up - this was not a problem. After a number of calls over two weeks without a commitment I hired someone else to do the work. And although patching the hole wasn't an emergency some basic follow-up would have been appreciated to know I was still on the radar. In summary, good job fixing the problem, not so good with the cleanup.

Completely unprofessional. AVOID. Steve commits to appointment and doesn't show up or call. Rental property has clogged drain pipe - called on Tuesday. Steve said he was booked Wednesday but could be there first thing Thursday morning (asks me to txt him the address - red flag here). I text him Wed. night to ask what time he plans to show. He txts back """"call you in the a.m."""". Thursday morning and no response. I call and he asks me to refresh his memory and then says that job is just too involved and he can put me on the schedule for next week. Meanwhile I have tenants who cannot use their kitchen sink for days b/c. Avoid Buckhead Plumbing - they are typical craigslist contractors.

Please read this complaint, as well as previous complaints on Yelp and sites like the Better Business Bureau and Angie's List before hiring Steve Malone. Once doing so, you'll understand the pattern of deceit Steve employs. To replace my main water line and fix a drainage issue in the backyard, Steve gave us an estimate of $4,100. I'm a first-time homeowner of a few months, and I was too trusting & naïve to ask for a written quote. Steve began his con by charging me $1,500 instead of the stated $150 to assess plumbing issues at the house (Steve's response will be that this is a clerical error on his part.) At the completion of the job, the price increased from $4,100 to $10,000. His reasoning for charging us over 100% of the original price: """"rock excavation"""" and """"irrigation repair"""". I employed a licensed, Master Plumber to estimate the cost and specifics of this job. His estimate was $3,400. When I asked the 3rd party plumber about the cost of unforeseen subterranean rock, he quipped that our house """"isn't on Stone Mountain"""", and that amounts of subterranean granite, as well as irrigation lines, should not increase the original estimate because it is a reasonable and obvious part of the plumbing business. Steve advertises himself as a """"Licensed and Independent Plumbing & Heating Contractor"""". I spoke to the Secretary of State's office and they could not find his license. Furthermore, when asked to provide his license ID number... Steve refused. (Steve recently deleted this claim from his website; however I have a dated screenshot of the previous claim should anyone care to see.) On my invoice, Steve asserted that """"parts"""" for the project cost $4,000 (roughly the price of his original estimate). The 3rd party plumber assured us that the parts for this job couldn't have cost any more than $400. After all the work was done, our irrigation system didn't work. The irrigation service we employed deduced that Steve's sub-contractors had not fixed the irrigation system that Steve charged us over $2,800 to fix. Furthermore, Steve refused to pay the $550 for the irrigation errors that his team caused. At the end of the day, it was my fault to trust Steve Malone. I signed the invoice and payed him... unaware that I was being taken advantage of, and that this plumbing job should have cost a fraction of what we were charged. My goal in writing this review is to make sure that no one else makes the mistake of trusting this man.

Highly Recommended, Reasonably priced, Reliable, Efficient service. I googled and Steve was the top 5. Two prices were in my range. He reached out to me daily to see if I had gotten anyone to replace my unit and reassured me I would be satisfied. Steve dropped his price to ensure he was able to get my business. He was at the site as stated and the work performed exceeded my standards. Since I was unable to come to the site he ensured I got quality pics of the work performed. It's evident that they take pride in the work they do as it's a representation of the company. He ensured me if I had any issues they were only a phone call away whether it was for the unit, plumbing, electrical, or small repair. He also made sure I knew all about my warranty. Great job Steve and his crew.

Steve and his crew are top notch professionals. I got quick turnaround on a quote request and Steve was able to get someone out to me promptly within the same day. Conscientious and personable staff with the expertise to get the job done right the first time. They earned every one of those five stars.

Subcontracted the installation of our HVAC unit to an inept installer. I've had multiple people look at the system and tell me what a bad job this company did. Would never recommend working with Steve Malone.
