Kimber G.For two weeks, my house had noticeably gotten hotter and hotter, until it felt like a sauna as soon as you crossed the threshold. I saw a TV ad for Bryant about a Clean & Check special for AC units. I called them immediately to schedule an appointment.
Fast forward a week and a half to when Waylen knocks at my door. He had called 20 minutes prior to arriving to give me a heads up and was prompt. He made sure to put on shoe covers before entering my house to protect my carpet. Another bonus point to him for petting my Golden Retriever who, being a typical Golden, greeted him at the door. He asked me how the AC was working and I gave him a brief overview. He surprised me by checking my HVAC system first. I thought he was just there to look at my AC! Waylen is a saint because my HVAC system is in my attic which had to easily be 100 degrees that day. He bravely climbed up the stairs and came down 15 minutes later to say everything looked great.
Next, he went outside to give my AC unit a check. Not wanting to hover, I simply showed him where the unit was and retreated indoors. After maybe 30 minutes or so he came back and gave me an honest diagnosis. First, the unit was super dirty so he was going to clean it off. Second, it was nearly out of refrigerant. He went over the options with me [add refrigerant, complete an electrical test OR a dye test to determine if something is leaking] and let me make a decision. Since I knew I would be charged another service fee if a technician had to come back to my house to complete a test, I gave him the green light to do a dye test while he was there.
Another 30 minutes pass and he returns, saying he'd cleaned the unit and added 5 lbs of refrigerant to it along with dye.
I felt that he clearly explained the process of what he was doing as well as the financial aspects associated with it. He didn't have the overly pushy/thinks you're an idiot vibe that some technicians get (especially toward women) which I appreciated. Thanks a ton, Waylen!
*Sidenote: I will admit that Bryant is fairly expensive. Grand total, this will run me around $700 which I think is steep. Here's hoping my main coil doesn't need to be replaced because I'll probably cry. $$$
Elizabeth F.Customer service is everything. I called and asked for a quote for a business location, and the first thing the lady said was ""we dont bill"". I was very offended, and I didn't ask if they billed, so I would recommend going with a company with better customer service.
When my daughters heat pump failed we contacted Bryant to come to repair the unit. They were prompt in coming to assess the problem and to acquire the parts needed to repair the unit. The cost of the repair part is where I was extremely disappointed in in Bryant. The part needed to make the repair was a control board. We were informed the part cost was $971 for the control board. After the repairs were performed and we paid Bryant, I investigated the part used to make the repairs and found the part could be purchased for less than $200. It is very disappointing to find that they are charging customers this type of markup on parts. After being treated this way by a company that advertises that they put customer satisfaction first,we will no longer use Bryant as our HVAC contractor. We will also be contacting the BBB to file a report concerning their price gouging on the parts.
Bryant Heating & Cooling sent Waylen out on short notice to take a look at our Unit, which had stopped working. He was able to order the part and have the job completed within 24 hours, despite the scattered storms & rain -- he even built himself a makeshift tent out of a tarp so he could keep working through the rain and get us back up and running.
We've been Bryant customers for over a decade, through several homes, and this great service is par for the course with them, as they go above and beyond every time! Thanks again!
Joseph T.A guarantee doesn't actually mean anything apparently.
When my father bought a new unit and a new furnace back in 2009, it came with a 5 year labor guarantee, a 10 year parts guarantee, and a 20 year compressor guarantee. Fast forward to this week, and the ""motor"" went out on the furnace. The gentleman wanted to charge me $750+ for the replacement of said part. I showed him the paperwork, stating that I had a part guarantee. He got on the phone and said that they could lower it to $495. When I asked him what's that's for, he couldn't really answer. He said the service, labor, part, etc. I challenged him again and said that the part should be covered. He said just the labor then.
A different guy came around the next day, and the part replacement took about 25 minutes. Now, I'm no mathematician, but $495 for 25 minutes worth of work is over $1,000/hour. I didn't realize we were splitting the atom or launching a satellite into space. We're replacing a part on my furnace.
When I asked THIS guy what the $495 was for, he said, ""part, labor, everything."" I again said that the part should be covered. He corrected himself and said it was the labor and they have a minimum fee.
I think I'm going to file a claim with the BBB. Bryant seems to be gouging here. I'll never do business with them again, given my experience and other reviews I've read. Sad, really. They seem to do good work. Which is why I've given them 2 stars. The guys that came to the house knew what they were doing.
I'd look elsewhere, if I were you. As someone else said - caveat emptor.
NEVER AGAIN! WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!
This saga starts in December of 2015. I decided to have my furnace cleaned by one of their technicians. He checked my furnace, and told me that he could fix all these leaks that were (supposedly) happening, or it would just be better to buy a new one. Granted, I knew that the furnace was old, and possibly needed replacing so it didn't surprise me. However, he oversold me on a furnace that was not needed for the size of my house. This information came from another technician from Bryant later on. Another technician came and installed the furnace, but he left two weeks in the middle of installing it! This was in December! Luckily, Louisville had one of its weird warm periods. Then he comes back, finishes the job, and within the hour the furnace turned off. I called them, and they had another technician come out. He checked it, and told me that my air conditioner was not compatible with my new furnace. He dismantled the air conditioner, and also leaked out any freon that was in the unit. I just found this out by having another technician from another company come and give me a quote, and he just discovered what happened. Also, he plugged in my air conditioner and said it works fine. So back to December, the Bryant technician gave me a quote of $10,000!!!!! for a new air conditioner!!!!! Ridiculous! Obviously, we can't afford that, and declined. We did not have an air conditioner at all for the year of 2016, and it was horrible! About four weeks after the furnace was installed we had my husband's cousin come over who is a contractor, and she noticed that the furnace did not have an inspection sticker on it. More importantly, she noticed that the gas pipe where the old furnace used to be was not capped off. She said, "" You need to get that capped off immediately. You could have carbon monoxide leaking into your basement."" Sure enough. I got a carbon monoxide detector, and the thing started going off. Maybe that could explain why my family was not feeling well, and my youngest kept complaining of headaches? I called Bryant again, complaining. They did have someone come out and cap it off, but honestly, I would not have known if it wasn't for a family member to notice it! Then I asked them about why I haven't had an inspection on my new furnace after four months it has been installed! ""You haven't had an inspection, yet?"", the receptionist said. Someone totally dropped the ball on that one. So the inspector comes out, and tells me he can't give me a sticker, because it has been installed improperly! I call Bryant again. They did come out and fix the problem, but not very well. I have a hole drilled in my basement wall with a copper pipe sticking out of it now. Again, they didn't cap off the pipe. I asked the technicians if they were going to set up the inspector coming out to inspect it again, and they assured me they would handle it. Months went by. I called Bryant again, asking about it , and the receptionist gives me the number of the inspector saying that I have to set it up. Worst. Service. Ever. I will never use them again!!!!! After the fact I have talked to friends, and acquaintances, and have heard that once they see a female without a male figure in the house they say to themselves ""chaching!"". They also have a horrible reputation of overselling, and telling others that they need to replace their unit when it is just a minor inexpensive fix. Their business practices are shady, dishonest, and sexist. I will never trust them again!!!!
Beav P.I don't know anything about HVAC. All I know is in the middle of winter when my furnace went out, 2 other companies wouldn't come to my house for 3 days and Bryant came out an hour after I called and replaced the needed part on that day as well.
It took 2 Bryant crews to install my furnace. And then it took an LG&E gas tech to fix their screw-up.
First crew tears out my old furnace and installs the new one. I tell the guy that I am smelling gas. He tells me not to worry, that was from one of the pipes they removed. He promises to double-check.
First crew leaves but says a second crew will have to return the following week to clean it up and finalize the installation.
Later that night I had to evacuate my family from the house because there is a gas leak from the work they did. The gas company tech finds and corrects their leak.
When I called Bryant, all I was told was ""sorry.""
The second crew came in and said they would have to totally redo the installation that the first crew did. Hopefully, I won't have to evacuate again.
NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN will I call Bryant.
I scheduled my appointment a week in advance. Like most companies they gave me a window of 3 hours to be home...3:00-6:00. I had plenty of other things to do w my time...at 5:45 they called to cancel as they didn't have time to make it out to my house. Needless to say, I didn't reschedule.
Brandee E.He did a amazing job, super friendly, and he got right to work. Finished in no time..
