John and his partner did an absolutely incredible job with our plumbing. We had an under mount sink installed and some new fittings replaced. He was respectful, honest, impeccable with his word and super fair with his pricing! Call them first you won't be disappointed. After reading all the great reviews and seeing the 5 stars, I figured Bruening R&R plumbing would be a safe bet, I was wrong.

Let me first say, John was a very nice guy, but I'd rather have a jerk who knows what he's doing. I called Bruening to fix a leak in a basement bathroom. The bathroom had been gutted when john came out. I told John that I actually just wanted to get rid of the bathroom in order to avoid future leaks, so the whole bathroom could be cut off completely from the water supply lines and drain lines. John capped a few of the clean water lines, but then said in order to work on the toilet drain, the tank for it would have to be pumped. There was a cord from a transfer pump that was sticking out of the concrete(previous owner stupidly installed under concrete without an access door). John said that the pump was probably bad and needed to be replaced in order to pump the tank, so I would have to jackhammer up the concrete in order to get to the pump. I was in a rush since it was 3 days before Christmas, so I went out and rented a jackhammer and got to work. As this was happening, I had other contractors working on the house, one of them was a former plumber. He looked at the bathroom and said if I wanted to cut the room off completely, I could just cut a few pipes that tied in the bathroom and reconnect one line directly to the sewer line. As soon as I saw his solution I knew John and Bruening R&R had given me bad advice. Sure enough, I had a different plumber come out for the simple fix and everything worked out...except the giant hole I had to refill with concrete and the $200 in rental fees for the jackhammer! He also had charged around $250 to cap the lines, which seems excessive.

I texted John and told him what had happened, and explained that I should hold them accountable for the Jackhammer rental fees. He never even texted me back. The other plumbers I talked to either did not know of Bruening, or did not have great things to say about them. I'm sure John and Bruening can unclog a drain, fix a garbage disposal, or install a water hear...but so can I and I'm not a plumber! If you need someone for actual plumbing work, look elsewhere.

John gave us options for fixing the garbage disposal and /or replacing it. He was professional and explained what he was doing without being a condescending mansplainer. We had a quote ahead of time and he called before he came just when he said he would. What a relief to find a great plumber. Also cabled a couple of drains and all for less than I paid a contender on the mountain to do less. Hurray! I have a new plumber.

We have a few properties up on the mountain. John has been fantastic to work with on everything from whole house repipes to dripping faucets. He is super organized, prompt, trustworthy and is great at helping out during emergencies. Works great with other subcontractors on larger projects as well.
