Recommended Customer Reviews

I have a rental house in Dallas and my agency called Brooks Plumbing and that was a waste of money. They came out for 15 mins and billed $250 saying they did a camera and there's a break in the line, but they can't tell anything about it because they need to install a cleanout for $650. They could have said there's no cleanout for us to do an accurate assessment of the issue, but to charge $250 for 15 mins. Sorry, but these guys want $$ and when I tried to negotiate with them, they were rude and unresponsive. Threatening to go into collections with my Rental Agency. I would steer clear and find someone with some integrity.

I WILL NEVER use these people for service again. We used for two services and it was two separate bills - one to fix busted water pipe. The other to fix gas leaks. To fix a gas leaks, they overcharged us on every line item (labor, materials and city permit). When I asked him to break down the charges, he said he was doing us a favor by not charging more and he felt personally insulted we were questioning the bill.
This all occurred during this February's Texas Winter storm, so there wasn't time for much vetting. We did some but were also in a desperate living situation. He was even recommended by our insurance company. We found out later, he makes sure the people he needs to keep "happy" - like certain entities (city permit office, insurance and 'select' customers) - so his tactics go unquestioned. For example, he kept busted pipe charge 'reasonable' as this was being paid by Insurance. But he rips off customers whenever he can. Later we found several horrible reviews on him with similar overcharging. In fact ALL his NEGATIVE reviews are for OVER CHARGING with a few for subpar work.
He charged $750 for labor without breaking down the per unit cost and the number of hours. I'm not sure what hours were submitted by his workers, but we know exactly how many hours they were at our home. It doesn't justify what we were charged. He essentially charged $125/hour for LABOR. Other plumbers we called for estimates charged well below $125/hour. Sadly, none were available because of all the busted pipes around the city.
He charged $162.50 for parts when we found they cost approximately $60 to $88.
He charged $125 for a city permit. We called the Irving city office with all our info. They specifically told us the permit is only $52. They literally laughed when I told them he charged $125. He overcharged us by approximately $300 to $500. He didn't discuss an estimate with us prior to doing the work and he is shamelessly taking advantage of us during the storm, charging us more KNOWING the bill is not accurate. I tried to speak with the owner about it twice. He has no explanation and yet refuses to adjust the bill.

DO NOT USE!! YOU WILL BE OVERCHARGED!! I have never been treated in such a combative way than I was when I spoke to John. I do not know what position he occupies at the business, but it may be time for a change. We were sent to this plumbing company by our insurance company. They quoted out the work and submitted it to our insurance company. All was well and good. After closer inspection of the invoice, I became interested in the breakdown. This was after the work was done because after I saw what they needed to do, I was curious on how they got their numbers. I asked questions about the breakdown. As soon as that happened, John became very combative and told me, "it was none of my business'. After a few minutes of back and forth, he decided to leave it alone and threaten small-claims court. He even went as far as to belittle my knowledge of what was going on.
Incidentally, I brought this invoice to two other plumbers to get their opinion. Both said it would have cost around $200 for the work.
Save yourself the hassle. Find a reputable plumbing company. Do not use this one. You WILL be overcharged and they will not explain it (i.e it cost $700 to replace a 2 ft piece of copper pipe with a valve and two fittings).

They initially contacted me about a job I needed done. They asked for additional information. I gave it to them. Never heard back from them after that. The least they could have done was to have the courtesy to let me know they weren't interested so I didn't waste the time I did waiting for the response. Well their loss is my gain. Did a little online research and was able to fix the problem on my own. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Happened twice before and I called a plumber those two times. Not anymore for this specific problem! Won't even bother with Brooks Plumbing next time I have plumbing needs since they couldn't be bothered to respond to me.

I needed an ice maker to be installed and so glad I chose Brooks Plumbing to do it! The technicians showed up quickly, explained what needed to be done and quickly got to work. I now have a functioning ice maker and a new plumbing company! Thank you so much Brooks Plumbing for a fantastic, quality experience.

Excellent response times. They always see me same day when I call with any issues. Found the company 9 years ago and I always recommend them to friends and family.
Up front pricing and no surprises when you work with these guys.

Great company! Very responsive, the plumbers very knowledgeable. Plumbers saved me a bunch of money, had hired another company with a way higher bid! They did great, fast repairs.

Love this place! They are upfront and HONEST!! and in this day and age that is a rare! They cleaned my tube drain and fixed my toliet all in a matter of 2 hours! they didn't make me wait all day they actually came earlier than their scheduled time, which I was totally cool with ! THANK YOU BROOKS!!! Ya'll rock!!!!!!!

STAY AWAY, Called these guys out to fix a clog in our sewer line. Their camera easily found the clog. They dug a 15ft wide hole about 4ft deep and could not locate the sewer line. I called out the city and they found it within minutes. Brooks came back out and dug a little more to find the clog which was a break in the line. They opened it up to where it would drain and then they left. Then after a week it rains causing dirt to slide into the hole and clog again. I called and asked when they were coming back out. They sent a guy and he unclogged it and left. Another week goes by and nothing. Then it clogs again so I call them. John the owner tells me they cant keep coming out to unclog it as they are deciding the best option to get this fixed. Meanwhile for weeks I have a giant sewer hole in my back yard. It smelled so bad I couldnt let the kids go play. Then after about 2 months they decide they need to install a pump in the ground to keep it flowing to the street. Another month goes by while the pump is on order. Finally they come to install the pump and got us going but did not fill the hole. I called after a couple of days and John acted like it was no big deal as the other guys are busy on other jobs. Now here comes the rain. It rained so much the hole filled with water and the pump they installed floated and broke the new sewer line. I call and he said he would send someone out in which they did not. Now we have a hole filling with poo and pee again. Now they have to wait until the hole dries out enough for them to work on. They sent guys out to look at it and they made excuses why they could not work on it. After another month or so they come to fix it and bury the pump. Thank goodness, we are done!! Not quite. After 2 weeks my house starts to smell like sewer and sewer water is coming up in our showers. I call them, they come out and determine the pump is not working. They guy pushed a rod into the ground and when he hit the pump it turned on so he said we were good to go. Every other day the pump quits and they expect me to go out there, shove a stick in the ground to bump the pump to make it run. After numerous phone calls John finally tells me the pump did not come with any warranty and they will not come dig it up and we should part ways. Stay away from this company at all costs!!!!

Horrible service, left a huge mess in my bathroom.
Had to come back a second time because the piping they did the first time stuck out of the wall and the sheet rockers couldnt repair the wall because of it and the 2nd time they came back they still didnt fix the issue and left a huge mess in my bathtube and bathroom floor. Definitely wont be using them ever again. Very unprofessional.
