Actually, zero star.
AWFUL! AWFUL! Extremely unethical and dishonest! I question whether they're properly licensed.
As others who have posted here, we were referred to Boyle by AHS. They came out 2 years ago and insisted they couldn't unclog our plumbing and talked us into installing a new clean-out ($1000). We've had more trouble with our plumbing in the last 2 years than we've ever had since owning our home. We've since discovered that they installed the clean-out pipe unevenly so that water backs backwards into the house instead of out to the street. They also tried to talk us into installing a water regulator, saying that without one, our pipes would burst. We had one already. He just didn't know where to look. He looked for it in the backyard; water regulators are usually installed at the front of the house.
Today, sadly, AHS had no plumber other than Boyle to service us. So we had no choice but to call them. The guy who came out looked down the clean-out pipe, cringed, muttered, ""I love my job...I love my job...I love my job,"" then asked for gloves and proceeded to snake the clean-out like he'd never touched plumbing before. After a couple of minutes, he said he couldn't unclog the pipe because of excessive roots. He called AHS and reported this, so of course, AHS denied our claim. He told me that even though AHS won't cover the service, he can still try to snake the pipe for $250. I asked to see the roots. He uncoiled a bit of the snake and showed me a small sliver,1/4 of an inch, of hair (it wasn't even roots)! I was appalled. It was obvious that he was embarrassed so he said there were more roots embedded further down the snake, so of course, I asked to see that. He uncoiled, and uncoiled, and uncoiled...nothing! He totally lied to get us to pay more.
Needless to say, I have a complaint in to AHS and they've agreed to send out another plumber for a second opinion.
Worst customer service I've encountered in a long time. Our home warranty assigned Boyle Plumbing to us to fix a few different things. Boyle does not return calls, does not show up on time and does not fix the problems properly. First they sent out someone to fix the plumbing problems we had only this guy tells us he is only here to figure out what the insurance will cover and someone will call us tomorrow to set up a time for the actual repairs.
Nobody called for a few days so we called. The woman in the office said she would have someone call us back that day. No return call. We called again two days later, she then tells us SHE will call back that day, but does not. We call again, finally get an appointment set up for four days later. The plumber shows up without the parts has to go to the store to get them. Finally comes back with parts for only one of the jobs and promises us he'll make sure someone calls us the next day to set up an appointment to fix the fourth job.
Nobody called. We called AGAIN, finally get an appointment set up for four days later and they tell us someone will be at our home between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. Nobody showed up so we call again and are told the plumber will be here between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Of the two things that were ""fixed"" one is still not properly fixed and we are no longer going to wait for this company.
Deborah G.Referred to Boyle from American Home Shield. Came out and for $75 used an auger. Told me that the toilet flushed 10 times properly. Next time I tried to flush the toilet it didn't work, exactly the same as before the ""repair."" Boyle also told me that further repairs wouldn't be covered by AHS so I should call Boyle directly and pay them full price directly and not deal with AHS. Total scam. There is no reason this would not be covered by my policy. Called AHS who wanted to send Boyle out again to do the work. When I told AHS that Boyle has an ""F"" BBB rating and asked why they would want to send them out to me again after they tried to scam me, they told me they use on customer ratings to select service providers. I will go through credit card to dispute the $75 charge and cancel my useless AHS policy.
Boy, between American Home Shield and Boyle Plumbing, two of the worst companies I have ever done business with. Boyle really takes the cake. They NEVER show up on time, more than likely will cancel the day of your appointment and also more than likely will order the wrong parts and damage any existing plumbing you may have. Their response to my question of why they are canceling the third appointment in a row was that since I was with American Home Shield, I was not a priority for them. When they do show up, they do poor workmanship using the cheapest parts they can find which always break soon after they are installed. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. YOU WILL BE THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY. They do not care about you, whether your house is under water or raw sewage is leaking in your house. This goes for American Home as well. They have no care to get your issue fixed. Be thee warned. I can't believe I have to give either of them a star. You guys need to upgrade your rating system.
Jo D.We just had the most pleasant experience with a very helpful service technician, Rich from Boyle Plumbing. He was friendlly, knowledgeable, and went the extra mile to try and solve our drainage problem. Thank you so much Rich!
What a joke of a company. Do not use!!! I called them out for a blocked toilet, the first person arrived on time and spent 4 hours trying to unblock the toilet. He did not have the correct equipment and had to go to the local hardware store to buy the equipment. After four hours, much of which was spent on the phone with his ""supervisor"" a second person arrived to help. The two of them spent another hour trying to clear the blockage and then gave up. They then told me that to clear the blockage they needed to do an extra $1,100 of work. I declined an dcalled another plumber who arrived the following morning and cleared the blockage in under an hour.
Once again, incompetent rip-off artists.
Leeann H.If I could give this company negative stars, I would. I had to have this company come out FIVE times to fix a leak in our upstairs bathroom. My home warranty company required that I use them, which is the only reason I allowed them to even come back a second time. They were a bit rude on a couple of the occasions, did not do what they were asked to do, and even billed my home warranty company for services they did not perform. They also told me they wouldn't fix something because my warranty didn't cover it, when in fact the warranty company misunderstood the initial report the plumber gave, and WOULD cover the part. They just left my house and did NOT replace the shower gasket that was considered to be a problem, because they could not find it to be leaking at the moment. I will never allow them to set foot in my house again!!!
Brooke H.My bathtub updtsird had a leak in the faucets which was discovered by Ryan Boyd of Boyle Plumbing. He fixed that and gave me the name of a company that would repair the water damage to the downstairs bathroom ceiling. Ryan Boyd of Boyle Plumbing had been here about 2 weeks ago because both my toilets were leaking. He fixed them in no time. He saved me a lot of money because my handyman wanted me to buy new toilets and was going to charge me $1,000 to patch the ceiling. Because of Ryan Boyd's suggestion, the companay I hired only charged me $200. Boyle Plumbing was sent out to me by American Home Shield and worth every penny.
NO GOOD, INCOMPETENT, RIPOFF DOUCHE BAGS!
Their ""plumber"" came out to fix a leak under our sink as a home warrant contractor. After spending 1 1/2 hrs replacing an angle stop their rep tells my wife for $100.00 they can fix the down pipe from the sink strainer. ""It's not broken, will need to be fixed. I can do it now for $100.00"" WTF? If it isn't broken, then why fix it? When she declined, he left and over the next few days water starts collecting under the hardwood floor near the sink.
Another plumber came out and determined that the down pipe that ""will need to be fixed"" had a crack and was clearly broken when the Boyle rep was out.
Synopsis: Boyle's plumber, if not unethical and illegal was at a minimum lazy and incompetent.
My opinion:
1) He should have recognized the down pipe was broken and needed to be fixed (which was covered under the warranty contract ANYWAY)
2)Saying he'd fix the pipe (broken or not) for $100.00 when it was covered seems shady. I even spoke to his boss at Boyle who at best gave me the ""Well, it seems like there's conflicting statements"" back pedal.
Glean from this (and the other reviews) what you will.
Lita B.Really wished we looked at these reviews prior to having our home warranty agency Fidelity National refer Boyle Plumbing to us. It would have saved us a lot of precious time, energy, and sanity which could have been used for something else more worthwhile. In retrospect, I could totally understand why they got an F from the BBB. Boyle Plumbing was our intro to home ownership repairs and who NOT to hire.
Since plumbing projects can be time- and labor-intensive, I let it slide that the plumber came 2 hrs. after the estimated 4 hr. window timeframe. Strangely, our home warranty picked this out-of-town plumber which is located in Windsor-- at least 1 hr. + away from Napa. But being tardy is the least of this plumbing business's troubles :( The plumber they sent out was clearly a rookie who was truly unprofessional and clearly did not know what he was doing since he had to call his supervisor/plumber mentor at almost every step. For instance, isn't it standard practice to turn off the water valve prior to starting the plumbing work? Unfortunately for us, the plumber they sent out forgot this crucial step so our bathroom floor was covered with water when he opened the bathtub pipe. After he ran out to shut down the water valve, he then proceeded to track mud onto my hallway floor, rug, and bathroom mat... Yikes. :( Use of shoe coverings is not a standard practice with this plumbing agency. He apologized for the mess and said he'd clean it up. Little did I know till after the fact that he dried the mess up with MY clean towels, which he left sopping wet in the bathtub... WTH. Of course, he didn't have the right shower cartridge to fix the problem. So he'd naturally have to come back most likely in 2-3 days. Surprise... They had to cancel our 2nd appointment for 1 week later because they ordered the wrong part and/or it didn't come in yet. During this 2nd appointment, the same rookie plumber cleaned up another one of his water messes with another one of my shower towels (aren't they suppose to clean up their spills using their cleaning supplies?!) and said we'd have to schedule yet another appointment with their ""master plumber"" because he didn't know how to fix the plumbing problem. Right then and there, we knew that we had to fire their sad agency b/c we had enough of their excuses. And our poor young son had to have showers for the last 3 weeks instead of calming baths. Basically the whole grueling adventure with Boyle
Plumbing was an agonizing 3 week process without a completed job.
Thankfully, the 2nd plumber Fidelity National referred us to was a local plumber Ken Mays Plumbing in Napa, which I HIGHLY recommend. They were professional, took pride in their work, and completed the job in a reasonable manner.
Avoid Boyle Plumbing like the plague. They do not deserve your patronage.
