Hired Botto Plumbing on a referral from a friend of mine Mike Botto from Botto Bros. (cousins but separate business) to fix a Thermosol steam unit in my house. All was well, the unit was removed and I paid for the refub and the removal. When the technician was leaving I asked what the cost would be to reinstall it and was told $150 and he would be there no longer than a half hour. I wasn't home when the man came to reinstall it, and when I asked my wife how much he charged I come to find out he charged over $450 to reinstall it, which is more then it cost to take it out by approx $150. So I called the company to inquire and was promised a call back which I never received, so I call them again, reexplained my position and I was told Roger (I guess that is the owner) said he wasn't going to adjust the bill. This reeks...unethical. I'll be cancelling the credit card payment through the bank and I'll issue them a check for the $150. (I wasnt even asking for an adjustment to the $150) since we cant resolve amicably...Awful... and I'm sure there will be another review following this, by a made up person stating how wonderful they are...over and out.

I was a very long time customer when my gas water heater went Roger wanted to charge 4900.00 to replace it the hole system 11 years ago only cost 9800.00. when i called to question the price he was very rude and nasty that he had to pay his insurance coming due and the high price of gas like I dont have those bills either. got a price from another plumbing company in business for over 30 years for 2000.00 less with a 1 year warranty on the complete installation and 10 years on the tank. No loyalty at all to long time customers. very poor business ethics.

Roger, his son and the rest of his guys are great. In the past they've done a whole house water filter for me and fixed a leaking faucet. On Sunday my toilet leaked through my ceiling below and they had 2 plumbers here Monday morning to get it fixed within an hour. It was raining out so they wore boot covers and cleaned up after themselves. Great communication and service

STAY AWAY!!!!! I wish I could give this company a full star unfortunately couldn't give less than one ! . First the company charges over $350/hour to come diagnose the problem ( actually $185 first half hour then reduced to $145 for each additional1/2 hour , plus travel time ) The technician was knowledgeable but very cagey. When I would ask a specific question about cost of a replaced unit as he was working on the 2nd 1/2 hour there would be no answer until the very end (1 hour &1/2 and still not fixed ) when he calls the owner and here's when the ""up sell happens"" . We can put in a replaced unit ( of course a better unit) all in for $3850 all in BUT only if you sign on the dotted line and my boss / owner who is one the phone can possibly fit you in for next week.
I ask what type of unit and make and model number I only get the name of the unit ( it's far more superior than the one you have and more reliable the tech says). If you take this offer today we won't charge you for the service call and part we put into your unit that doesn't work. The total for the service call was $608. ( imagine that $465 for the tech time ( 1 hr & 1/2 ) and $95 for the part that didn't fix the problem but was left in the unit ( and charged for ) and the rest is tax and get this $10 for a BILL CHARGE. For providing me a written bill I have to pay $10. Unbelievable ! Never heard of a bill charge. I guess they need to charge for a more honest answer or one that can bounce back to them.

I told the tech that I would think about it and call on Monday. I didn't wait I called after he left and left a message for the owner roger botto and still await for a return call. I find it unconscionable that I couldn't get the numbers up front when I asked about a new unit. When paying the bill the tech was indignant that my wife would ask about a part that was installed and a unit that needs replacing and the part did not fix the problem or was not working. I was never advised that all parts even the ones that don't fix the problem would be charged. Highway robbery and thievery if you ask me.

It's all about running up the clock on the high service fees and leaving a customer with no hot water and up trying to up sell him to a another unit. A typical ""hurt and rescue "" tactic and playing the game of numbers. I left like I was at a carnival and the barker was hawking me into the tent

Take my advise I have dealt with professional contractors in my businesses for over 35 years and unfortunately this company leaves a lot to be desired. Knowledgeable but extremely deceptive !

Two words ""STAY AWAY"" ! Don't waste your time or money with this Botto Brothers Plumbing & Heating. They leave you with a broken unit and parts that don't fix the problem or needed to be replaced and the best part leave you in the cold.

Bad experience and I feel deceptive business practices !

Came exactly on time and as promised -- fixed the issue with my plumbing that was quite complex and that other plumbers could NOT fix..
5 stars for that! they are a little expensive - but this is New York and nothing is cheap when it comes to call outs so I was expecting that to be honest...

Highly recommended ...

STAY AWAY FROM THEM
Very unprofessional, says they are fixing something and doesn't. Charges for their time and when u need them to come back charges you again and still doesn't fix the problem
Promise to order a part, that is never ordered and therefore never fixed

I used Botto Bros. Plumbing & Heating in Hicksville to handle all of my plumbing and heating requirements for a house I built 14 years ago. One of the principles designed the entire system which was to be a highly efficient configuration since I live on the water and exposed to very cold temps, and full radiant for entire home (no baseboard or forced air).

The system worked the first few years aside from a constant oil-line freezing issue which I cannot say really has anything to do with Botto, though they could have insulated the oil line better. Then things started to fall apart. Areas of the house would reach temp while other rooms required stand-alone heaters on the colder days. Then the system stopped working all together. The boiler (System 2000) was fine, but the configuration used for some reason no longer told the boiler to turn on nor properly circulated. So regardless of thermostats calling for heat, the boiler would not fire. For quite some time I would call Botto with these issues. They would repeat they do not service out in this area anymore and to call someone else. They recommended over time 3 different companies.

Two of these companies came for a service call and charged me a service fee to tell me ""This is configured in an unorthodox way and we cannot work with this, call the original installer or we can rip everything out and install something we are familiar with."" I contacted the 3rd company but sent them pics and an explanation to avoid a $250 fee for someone to tell me they cant help. The 3rd company confirmed the same thing. Said they do not understand what they (Botto Bros) did. I contacted two additional companies on my own (making a total of 5) who concluded the same as the other 3.

I paid $38,000 for the original plumbing and heating work. For a number of years, I have literally jumped the boiler bypassing the thermostats, have installed a smart switch and wifi thermostat and during winter months actually get warnings with temps in my house, turn on the boiler remotely and then turn it back off as it will just run continuously and burn oil and reach dangerous temps for my wood floors and such. My system, which was to measure outside temps, understand desired inside temp, and inject and circulate the right amount of hot water which was explained to be incredibly efficient has been reduced to a boiler with no intelligence that I turn on and off manually to maintain heat. On vacation or traveling for business, cant forget to dial in and turn things on and off.

At this point, facing 5 professionals, 3 of which were recommended by the original installer, I managed to get through to a Taco Comfort Solutions tech, who's equipment is responsible for turning the boiler on and off and mainly used throughout my boiler room. The gentleman was very nice and knowledgeable and took the time to walk me through wiring schematics to try and help me out. About 25 minutes in, we found that the terminal that is typically responsible for firing the boiler had no wires from it. However, this system did initially run. So he concluded he could not help me, that he had no idea how Botto Bros had hooked this up, but not according to their specifications and did not want to walk me through anything without knowing, for risk it would cause more problems. 5 plumbing companies, 3 of which Botto recommended, and a tech from Taco ALL CONCLUDE THE SAME THING. This was not installed in any common method they could understand.

Desperate, I put a call into Roger Botto, current sole owner of Botto Bros since I understand Hunter, his brother, retired. No call back. This morning I reached him. He indicted he is dealing with lots of issues from his brother, they scaled down and cannot service me, and my system had a 1 year warranty at best. I let him know this is NOT a warranty call. I will pay whatever you want. Nobody will touch this system and would rather not rip everything out and toss it. He said the system is 14 years old and there is nothing he can do, he has no obligation to service it. Yes, 14 years old, fell apart in less then 4 years, the remaining years I have been struggling with it, called everybody you told me, paid service fees and they all conclude you guys did it wrong and it must all be replaced. He said he agreed, rip it all out and put in something simpler. This was obviously the true answer from day 1, but instead kicked the can down the road by having my chase and beg others to come service it to no avail, wasting thousands of dollars a year and time trying to get something straightened out that was done wrong in the first place. To boot he made it sound like what is the big deal, should cost you $7K-$10K max to replace. I asked then why was I charged $38,000? Said that is what it cost then.

We had a great experience with the Botto Brothers. Rich and Billy were able to work through our hot water issue and suggest a solution. Roger (the owner) was very fair on pricing and worked hard to ensure they followed through until our issue was fixed. Overall a great experience with very good customer service! My 4 year old son is still asking when he can see Billy and Rich again. :)

Shocking the attitude of the one of the owners of Botto Brothers after charging $ 1,700 for approx. 1 1/2 hours to 3 hours of labor (including small parts) if you count the time the tech went to get the parts for my 8 year old boiler. When I called them back several days later for another screeching noise they claimed this had nothing to do with the original problem. (When they were in my house a few days earlier I specifically requested they check the entire boiler to make sure all issues were fixed.) They wanted to charge $ 650.00 plus to change another valve/motor. When I expressed my disappointment and frankly outrage to spend approx. $ 2,300 for an 8 year old boiler. The owner was defensive and rude and didn't care to satisfy or lower the charge which in our opinion should have been fixed in the original call. I am a repeat customer and have made several referrals to them . This time they were greedy and unprofessional and I will NEVER use Botto Brothers again!
