We had Blue Mountain install our solar and, now, they no longer do solar installations. After multiple phone calls and a promise that the CEO would get back to us in 24 hours about two weeks ago, nothing. We are stuck without our warranty and unanswered questions about how the system works. I only gave two stars because the installers were kind and did a decent job.

AVOID THIS COMPANY

Short Version: My recommendation to ALL prospective customers for ANY Blue Mountain service is that you avoid this company. There are too many competent companies operating with integrity that are listed here on Yelp with outstanding reviews that deserve a chance to earn your loyalty. Do not waste your time and money on Blue Mountain.

Expanded Version: I purchased a PV solar installation from a division of Blue Mountain. My contract with Blue Mountain provides that for the next 20 years they will monitor and maintain my system as well as my roof for system related leaks. However shortly after the California shelter in place orders in March 2020, Blue Mountain shutdown their solar division and let go of all but one of the division's employees. And they chose not to notify their customers of this decision.

I am writing this review in August 2020. After multiple calls, no one from the company has yet to return my call, including the CEO, Steven Brown, who was supposed to call me back within 24 hours as promised by their receptionist during my last call. As of this writing, it has been three weeks and still no return call from ANYONE. Just before making this posting on August 17, 2020 I called the company to see if anyone was available to take my call. Once more I was told that a message would be left with the CEO and that there was no one else in the company that I could speak with regarding solar installations.

Blue Mountain clearly is not monitoring the energy production of my solar array, And they effectively are not available to perform maintenance or repairs as they have no division, no employees and no procedures nor any designated third party assignee in place to handle their obligations. Solar arrays require a substantial investment by property owners. And Blue Mountain induced their customers to buy these expensive systems by promising contractually to monitor, maintain and repair them. Blue Mountain's willful abandonment of their customers and their solar division with NO provisions made for their ongoing obligations is willful misconduct.

As for anyone from Blue Mountain who might respond to this review here on Yelp, this is of little value to me or any of your other solar customers at this point. If you want to do the right thing, notify your customers in writing of your decision to close the solar division and explain exactly how their systems will be monitored, maintained and repaired going forward. Also provide customers with phone numbers for emergency services that will be provided either by designated employees trained to handle these obligations or a competent third party solar service company designated as your assignee. (Needless to say, this should have been done by Blue Mountain before closing and disbanding its solar division.)

I bought a home from Shea Homes Livermore two years ago. The HVAC failed. I called Shea Homes customer service and was told the HVAC is out of warranty. I got the contact information for the installer, Blue Mountains, and they do not back their work either. I would expect better from Shea Homes and Blue Mountain for major systems like HVAC than a one year warranty. Very disappointed.

Heater came on and off again I was upset so I called warranty Dept to set up appointment once again. This time they sent out another tech Arel I believe his name was, very nice professional guy he explained issue what caused it and how he repaired it. Ran system for 20 mins making sure it stayed on. Had a horrible experience on the freeway with truck #518. He kept getting right on my bumper even when we there was no where to go with on and off traffic. He continued to do this to every driver along a hour stretch of traffic. Very unprofessional if this is the way he encounters people in general.

I can't connect my Honeywell Themostat to my home wifi. Daniel came to help. First time, we tried few times and did not work. So he ordered 2 new ones for me. Today, he came with 2 new ones and we did it. The thing is that he actually tried before coming to my home to make sure he can connect with the new ones. Very considerate. Thanks!

BEWARE: was forced off the road by the reckless driving of their employee (similar description to another review below). A Blue Mountain Construction vehicle drove into opposite direction traffic then nearly collided with my vehicle while attempting to merge on Highway 65. After several near-misses the same Blue Mountain Construction vehicle aggressively tailgated the proceeding vehicle for several miles. If the reckless, unskilled, unaware, and unprofessional behavior of the Blue Mountain Construction employee while operating their company vehicle during duty hours is an indicator of the attitude and professionalism of the company, then BEWARE of this company. Certainly beware and avoid their employees when they display their ineptitude on the road.

Been trying to get a hold of these people to come check my mothers system after her ceiling collapsed Friday. Seems no one answers the phone. Not. Even the operator. Very disappointed

Contacted after this review. Its a bit of a roller coaster but short story is mediocre quality work and lots of trial and error but they were courteous and did get the job done.... for now. lets see if we have more leaks down the line.

They came out to do a preliminary check to see the issue. No work promised on the phone but wanted to meet and look over the ac system. I agreed and met with them one morning and they checked the system. System was dry and they tried to find the leak with a freon sniffer. The sniffer went off in an internal wall of my house. They had me contact my house builder to negotiate tearing up the dry wall to find the leak and seal it. this 1st appointment took about 2-3 hours.

2nd meeting took about 5 hours and 2 people came. turns out the new guy was the guy who had installed the ac unit originally. work started and they cut into my drywall in the garage and master bathroom. They could no longer find the leak and was saying there was a kink in the pipe. I was sure to hover over them to make sure of the process. This kink theory didnt make sense since then there should be pressure in the system. Around ljnch time they took a break and decided to check the condenser out side. turns out the freon sniffer pjnged there and produced bubbles when sprayed with soap water. Lack of care also as they bent the fins while jamming their freon sniffer to find the leak. Was kinda pissed they cut up the house without checking the exposed system first. they go to call the manufacturer for a replacement and jnform me that the part is covered but not the labor to install it..... even though they installed it the first time. they said the replacememt will come in 10 to 15 days and will schedule an appointment.

Fast forward 3 weeks later no call and i call them back. Fed me a story that the manufacture missed the order. Not sure if i believe it but no way to find out. They then schedule the replacement meeting 5 days from that call......(supposedly should take 10-15 to ship.....) so they came out and replaced the coil/condenser and bent the fins where ever they touch. Also saw the coil/condenser in the back of the truck bare with no packaging. They install and soap test and see no bubbles and button it up. Upon finishing i see my pavers around the AC unit is stained and they said it was just soap..... however i could not wash it out with water. On a positive note they said they will take the old part and pressure test it in the shop and call me if there is no leak, which would indicate my system would still be leaking.

AC works for now but.... who knows in another couple of months.... maybe they will cut up my walls again to look.

edit: working around the AC condenser and noticed all the screws on the back side of top cover are missing..... and all the screws in the front are in. I get that the AC now works but this is deceptive workmanship. Also stains are from oil. Back to no stars aka 1 star for me. Tired of this fix something while breaking something mentality this company has.
