Bill replaced our water heater. He is very professional. Also did a great job. He was missing a release pipe. Several days later, cane back and finished the job. AND, he was the cheapest of 3 plumbers I called--and a nice guy to boot.
I called B ill's because my plumber was hurt and is taking time off. I needed a toilet installed. Super basic; puddy ring, new shut off, two nuts. I had the toilet. I was quoted one price over the phone. Called my husband to verify he was ok paying and we both agreed it was a very fair price. I was charged over $130 more than what I was told on the phone. There were NO surprise circumstances. So I have two more toilets to be installed and sadly I won't be calling Bill's. While the installation was top notch and the young man who did the work was clean and respectable, the bait and switch just really pisses me off.
Great experience with a new plumber. Installed a new toilet and did some odds and ends. Reasonably priced and Bill was very nice.
Came out on a Sunday for an emergency clog (the other company couldn't come, even though they said last night they would). Did a quick fix and it cost half of what we thought it might (and a quarter of what the first company thought it might). Very appreciative.
The plumber that I dealt with was great, but the office staff is atrocious. Completely disorganized and rude. I was actually yelled at over the phone. I have an unfinished job and large invoice sitting on my desk for the work that has been done to date. We're having the work completed by another company in the area and will never ever call Bill's again. If I could give zero stars I would.
AT first I was a little skeptical to hire this new company because my regular plumber retired and sold the company to Bill's Plumbing. They sent Mr. Kurt, he is as good as if he is not better than my old retired plumber. Kurt is very courteous , he has good knowledge of all his equipment. He use a very small but very powerful machine. He rodded the main sewage line systematically, carefully, and effectively. He rodded out at least 5 pounds of tree root. My clean out is just 6 inches inside the foundation wall. He protected my floor with towels. He made my clean up job easy.
I will put in foaming root killer 4 weeks after the rodding and every spring and fall. Even though Kurt told me that there is a 90 days guarantee, I am sure I don't need to go through with this ordeal again at least for two years. I gave 5 stars just for Kurt's job well done.
If possible I can only give 4 stars for the charges. I am still not agree with service call charges. I can understand that if I call your company for an estimate and I decide not to hire your company , then you can charge me 40 dollars. But , now I call up your company and hire you to do my maintenance rodding of mainline from a clean out. I don't see why you add 40 dollars on top of the hourly rate of 225 dollars per hour.
It is not the total cost but it is the principle of doing business. I have no problem of paying your company 265 dollar per hour of work. This is a hard and dangerous work !
I can highly recommend Bill's Plumbing. They have serviced our house for years: the prices are fair, the response time quick, the service very professional and efficient. They always got the job done right! I trust them-- which is saying a lot after some poor experiences with plumbers in the past. Thank You Bills!
Honestly this is the worst place to conduct your business with! I didn't even receive service from these guys and they kept sending me a bill each month for no reason. UNBELIEVABLE! Finally when I called in to ask why they kept sending me a bill they said that they 'mistakenly' sent it to me when they should have sent it to someone else who received their service. This whole thing is really pathetic. This just shows you how great their service must be.
Tim, James and Crew:
I wanted to write and say Thank You for a job well-done with our Overhead Sewer System in Des Plaines. The installation was extremely quick for such a large job. I would definitely recommend your team to friends and family.
What really made your team better than the rest was your customer service. With our recent storm in April, we somehow got ground water (not sewer water) in our basement. I called the day of the storm requesting service and a call back. Tim called back within minutes and stressed that they do GUARANTEE their work and stand by it 100%. He was very apologetic and then stated that they will find the problem and solve it.
On a Saturday, James came out with an additional crew member (I do not know his name). They found out that there was an old catch basin under our deck in the backyard that no one ever knew about and had never been sealed off 100%. In less than 3 hours, they found the problem and fixed it without hesitation. Both Tim and James were very down to earth and extremely cordial.
Again, thank you to you and your crew.

We've used their services for a couple of years now and while they do a good job, I have to say my last experience with them has totally soured me on this company. I needed to change a toilet seat but one bolt was stuck. I tried many things--WD40, hitting the bolt with a hammer to try to loosen the rust, a hack saw to try to cut it off--but it was beyond my abilities, especially now with my foot in a cast. So I called Bill's. The woman who took the call was friendly, but never mentioned that it would cost $100: $30 for the service call and $70 for the ""half hour"" (more like 10 minutes) of labor. I almost fell over when he told me the price, but paid it. I later wrote to them saying how disappointed I was that, as a regular customer, I had not been cut any slack when it came to their standard rates, especially since no one had mentioned how much it would be, even though I told the woman exactly what I needed. Not only did they not issue any sort of refund, they never bothered to reply to my message. If this is how they treat regular customers, I guess I need to take my business elsewhere. They are competent and reliable, but I don't know how they can live with themselves after charging $100 for a 10-minute job for a loyal customer.
