I cannot say enough about this company. Was sooo impressed and will be more than happy to recommend them.

I had been having on and off problems with clogging in my kitchen for a couple of years. I would throw Draino in, plunge, run the dispenser forever, etc. Finally, my sink had had enough. During a dinner party, it clogged to no avail. A couple of my ""handy"" dinner guests had much to say about the construction of the pipes. There was definitely something not right with them. So the next day, I call Roto Rooters. Bad mistake. I am a woman who wants to understand what is going on, why it needs to be fixed and why the cost is what it is. Roto Rooters came in with a price of $377 just to unclog the pipe. The guy was super rude and didn't want to explain what was going on with the pipes because they were just no properly installed and causing the repeat clogs. Anyhow, did use Roto Rooters.

Called the plumbers that work in our building and said they couldn't come until after Christmas (three weeks away).

Looked on yelp and found Big Blue. Grit my teeth, took a breath and called. Donna was SUPER nice. Made me feel comfortable right from the start. Helped me to laugh a little about the situation and was able to get someone within a couple of hours.

My mom was there to greet the plumber so I didn't personally interact with him but did have him call me. He gave me three different options to correct the situation with explanation about why, the price, etc. Answered all my questions thoroughly with no attitude. I am so intense sometimes and he was so patient. I also loved that he gave several options as I felt in control about the situation rather then feeling out of control and duped. I chose the medium priced option which was quoted about $400-$500 to unclog the drain and fix some of the badly constructed pipes.

He did the work quickly and when a bill was handed over, it was $330! Much less than quoted. I was floored! When does that ever happen? He also gave me some recommendations that I found super helpful. So happy I found this company.

**Update**
They're awful. Turns out they fixed my toilet improperly. Just had to call a different plumber out because (once again) my toilet would not stop running. He opened the tank and said, ""well, here's your problem. Did you have your toilet rebuilt recently? I said, yes....about a year ago. He said, whomever did this should have their plumbing license revoked!"" They didn't trim the trap primer causing syphonage. My toilet has been running BECAUSE of the shoddy work that Big Blue Plumbing did.

They did come out quickly and fixed my problem right away - in under 10 minutes, however I was charged a ridiculous amount to change out a flapper. I was also charged an amount for ""testing"" - and let me be clear - the ""test"" referred to him ""flushing the toilet"". That's it.

When I called to dispute the amount on the bill - the woman was understanding and said I would only have to pay the hourly rate plus parts - however the new invoice reflected much more than what we agreed upon. When I asked her about that, she didn't want to hear it and said basically that she was right and I was wrong. Obviously we remember things differently. All I know, is that a technician was at my house in and out under 10 minutes (including the time he took to use my bathroom for personal reasons) and I was charged almost $200.

They were fast and they fixed my problem, however I would not recommend.

Though Kevin advised up front that he couldn't schedule me for at least six weeks, he still provided an estimate for me to use for the NStar heat loan. Sorry he wasn't available!

I wrote a frantic e-mail to Big Blue at 11pm on a Monday night, looking for a second opinion on a complicated problem with our hydronic heating system caused by work done by a subcontractor on our bathroom remodel.

I got a prompt and friendly call from Kevin early the very next morning. Kevin apologized that he wasn't available to come out for an on-site that day or the next due to being booked solid, but he then proceeded to spend nearly half an hour on the phone with me, helping me analyze in detail the steps our existing plumber had taken and suggesting useful avenues of exploration to fix the problem. In just a few minutes of talking to Kevin, it was clear that he knew a lot more about the issue than the plumber our general contractor had hired, and certainly was much better at communicating his knowledge. All of this help and advice he gave me free of charge, and without the slightest hesitation.

I don't look forward to the next time I have a plumbing problem, but I know for sure that when I do, Big Blue is the first place I'll call.

I used Big Blue a few times. They were prompt and courteous. There was a small drip in my heating system. The drip was from a pipe off of a fan. The patch job was professional, but when the repairman showed me his work, we both noticed that the fan was making a weird whistling noise. It was still functioning so he closed it up and left. Exactly one week later during a cold snap, the system shutdown because that fan broke. I called Big Blue. They were backed up due to a lot of frozen pipes that day. They said they could fix it the same day, but then they couldn't find the part. So they said they'd bring over some space heaters and fix it the next day. I think they forgot about the heaters because I had to call them later that night to remind them to bring them over. They did end up getting the part at the end of the next day (2 days without heat), and everything was resolved (though pricier than I would've thought). Maybe the fan was on its way out, but I think all the tugging on the pipes during the patch led it to fail a week later. All my contractor friends tell me the same thing: you pull on one thing in an HVAC system and the thing next to it breaks. That's fine, I understand that. What I would've appreciated is a little more hustle when we were then without heat for 2 days.

We needed a plumber to repair a leak coming from a second-floor bathtub, and it needed to be done quickly as it was a requirement for the sale of our home. Big Blue gave us a date very quickly, and Bill showed up right on time - no waiting around! While we envisioned having to cut holes in the 1st floor ceiling below the tub or the wall behind it, Bill quickly assessed that the problem was in the shower controls - and it was. The repair was made quickly, and Bill was professional, courteous, and informative. We'll definitely call Big Blue again!

I can't speak more highly towards Kevin at Big Blue Plumbing and Heating. I should mention up front that I haven't had any actual work performed by this company, so I can't speak to the cost, timeliness or reliability of the workmanship, but if Kevin is any indication, I would expect great things.

I had a drafting issue with the flue exhaust system at my house. I emailed my problem to Big Blue and received a prompt response from Kevin who asked for more information. After a few back and forth emails, he gave me a call and we discussed the problem for a good 20 minutes over the phone. I then emailed him some dimensions of the runs, diameters, etc and he took his own free time to do some calculations to assess the work and then spent another 20 minutes on the phone discussing it with me. He even offered to come by and take a look at the situation if his suggestions didn't improve things.

Amazing level of professionalism and willingness to help. Highly recommended.

Just had Kevin wtih Big Blue come by this afternoon to go over a few items in my condo (entire furnace blown, hot water tank, etc). He was courteous, timely, professional, confirmed a few things that were already quoted via home inspection. Made recommendations, let me know what would work and what wouldn't.

I would highly recommend his services and feel comfortable with any future needs!
