Beutler Air Conditioning and Plumbing | Sacramento CA

Beutler just replaced the HVAC in February of this year (2023) and upgraded the SAMRT VENT System. Beutler gave one-year unconditional performance written warranty. A company integrity is when you call them for repair service. This is where my headaches start with them. In March of this year (2023) I called to have them look at the SMART VENT system which appeared to be non-functional. No one showed up during the scheduled time. No one even called for the no-show. I waited few more hours and called the service desk again. All I was told is that to reschedule the appointment with no apologies/explanations of any sort. I asked to speak with a manager, and I was told that he will call back. After much lamenting to them Fido (their tech) showed up and assured me that SMART VENT is now fully functional. When I checked it later it was still non-functional. A few days earlier I called again to have them check out the HVAC system and, as usual, no one showed up. I am getting so sick and tired of these folks for their unprofessional behavior and their lack of concerns for their customers. I am going to file complaints with local Sacramento BBB and California State Licensing Board about their unethical warranty honoring issues.
This company has bad business practices, and they have no regards about the headaches and inconvenience they are causing to their customers during the summer months. These folks are non-professional, and they are only interested in sucking you in a contract and then forget about the services. A bad bunch of folks. Since I have had nothing but trouble with service requests, I wouldn't advise anyone to go thru what I am going thru with Beutler folks currently.

I'm pleased with Ian Stewart-Vital, the tech that came to service my A/C. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and not pushy. I especially like that he makes the effort to remember to wear his booties when entering the house. He even took the time to teach my spouse how to clean the air filter properly.

The main reason is didn't give a 5-star is not bc of Ian. It's mainly because Beutler, no matter which tech comes, always seem to come up with so many expensive recommendations. While the tech is not pushy about the recommendations, it's rather annoying nonetheless to be told you should do additional services to ""maintain the life"" of our units. Additionally, their scheduler needs better training. We scheduled our service for 4/20 but the tech decided to come on 4/14 when we were out of town. It's boggling how that mix-up happened!

I contacted Beutler about installing a new toilet. I was quoted $49.00 to install if I bought the toilet at Home Depot as they had an agreement with Home Depot. I bought the toilet at Home Depot, had the receipt and they installed it but charged me $99.00. I told them I was quoted $49.00 but it didn't matter. Mark

Bunch of thieves. If they find something minor, they definitely won't tell you what it is. They installed a brand new furnace and ac unit in my home and all of a sudden, a gas line is clogged??? Ok. Tech comes out pulls the part and goes to his truck to look like he's cleaning it while my front door camera catches him just taking the part and turning right back without doing anything to it. Takes his sweet time for a total of 2 hours just walking back and forth. Done. Here's a bill for $400 just so he can do cardio.

Talked to 2 different ladies to make an appointment. One said price to come out is usually $90. But since I went through Home Depot, it's only $70. A couple months later, I needed them to come out again and they say the rate is $130 but since they had to come out so soon, they would drop it down to $70.

Liars and crooks. I've had nothing but problems with my system and they're 10 warranty doesn't cover them coming out and fixing what they did incorrectly in the first place. Location had to do an overhaul of employees because of all the issues a couple years ago. Sounds like they need to do it again

Still waiting for ""Jim"" to call me back. Will continue to post until someone responds to my original complaint.

Came in fast but were charging us $4000 for our heater. Stated all the charges that some were not even needed. Called in another company and told us that our system is still under warranty and would be covered!! Mind you, Beutler was the one who installed our system. Didn't even tell us that it was still under warranty! Glad we asked someone again to take a look at the problem. Stay away from this company!! If I can give them 0 star I would!

Update 2 - plumber Horacio saved this interaction and followed through to get water heater replaced! Thank you Horacio! Adding a star solely because of him.

Update - WEEKS LATER STILL NOT RESOLVED. Make complaint-rep to email GM & no response. ""Mgr"" Greg is a lying worthless POS who makes promises to f/u & never responds. When u finally reach him after weeks, he forgets you & says ""i don't know who you are. I don't have a clue about your issue. I talk to a lot of people. I don't know anything about plumbing. I'll get someone out there tomorrow. I promise I will follow up with you in the morning."" His promise to look into the original issue never happens & no f/u phone call. New thermostat doesn't work. 3rd plumber says water is ""boiling"" hot, is a ""bomb that can explode"" & the valve on original install isn't typically used because IT HAS NO SAFETY SHUT OFF. won't say more ""until I talk to Jared."" Call again to say thermostat isn't working. Rep says they'll send a message to dispatch to contact Horacio who was just here. 3 days later & no call. Not one response about this ongoing issue or this post is clear they don't give a shit about their customers. Even after calling & calling asking for help I get told bullshit to get me off the phone & then No return call, no attempt to resolve issue OF THEIR INSTALL. Nothing. They're all about the money. Next stop is a complaint to the BBB and if anything happens to my family or home because of their negligence, I will sue this company into bankruptcy!!!!!!!!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CLEAR COMMUNICATION OR PROFESSIONALISM FROM OFFICE STAFF. Started having issues with a 3 year old water heater giving error codes on the thermostat, installed by Beutler, that is still under warranty. Called them to come out. The lady on the phone told me that, other than the service fee, everything would be covered since the system is still under warranty so if anything would need to be replaced, it would be covered. The first plumber to come out was nice and professional. He told me the thermostat is what is causing the issues. After looking up how to reset the thermostat on YouTube (what I did the night before) and calling a colleague for help, he was able to reset the thermostat. He told me if the thermostat gave an error code again, it would need to be replaced. After explicitly asking him about fees, he said ""it is still under warranty so you will have to pay nothing more."" A couple of days later, the thermostat gave an error code again. I called again but this time, the lady on the phone asked me questions about if anyone in the home had been sick (first time anyone asked me that) and that if anyone was, they couldn't come out for two weeks! The lady also said their techs will, as always, arrive fully masked, gloved, and with shoe covers. When I explained no one has EVER come with anything, she said well they should. Yeah that has NEVER happened with any Beutler representative who have come to my home. Fast forward to the second plumber who came to my home, Jared, who was the one who initially installed the system and has always been very pleasant, polite, and professional. He looked at the thermostat and said yes it needs to be replaced. Did the first tech order it for you? I said I have no idea. All he said was if it happens again to call back. The second plumber told me he should have ordered it because it takes a few days to come in so I will order it for you. When it arrives, call us and we'll come out to replace everything. It took over a week for both parts to come in but when they did, I called to schedule the plumber to come do the replacement. I asked the girl I talked to about confirming everything is covered under the warranty and she said yes, it looks like it is still under warranty so you should be fine. Then this past Friday the 4th, I received a call from Beutler to confirm the appointment and I asked again to confirm the warranty and explained everything I had been told, the girl said yes it is still under warranty so it looks like you should be covered. Then she said oh, I see a note about labor cost. So I explained again everything I had been told and she said ""let me talk to the manager and we'll give you a call back this afternoon."" I never received a call. Tuesday came (today) and the plumber Jared arrived to replace the parts. Polite and professional as always. I asked him if anyone said anything to him about whether everything is covered or not and he said no but that he'd call. He called someone and then told me, I just talked to the manager and they said labor is $369. There was no offer to speak to me to discuss, explain, or even apologize for all of the miscommunication if I had to pay for labor, to offer a discount, or to say fuck off. They have you over a barrel when they know you need the work doneThe employees who come out are always polite and professional but the office staff is what gives this company a bad name.

In 2018, I had a new system HVAC system installed and it worked well for one week. House was cold and everything worked as expected. After one week, the compressor started making loud noises. Ever since then, Beutler has been to my house to service this system 2-3 times a year. Burned our fuses, burned out contactor, system wasnt level , no hot air and bad thermostat. Once again almost 4 years to the date of install, no hot air and now its the compressor that has gone out.

Part is under warranty by Rheem but install is $1,895. This thing never worked right and all they did was little fixes. The compressor was always the loudest in the neighborhood. It sounded like a old car running and every time it came on there was a loud BAM like a gun shot. Buetler just keeps putting bandaids on it and now its on me to pay the $1895. The last tech even admitted the blower install in the attic wasn't setup right for a two story/two stage house. You try calling a manager and just get passed around. No manager is ever available and no one ever calls back. They just do not care about the product they put in. I can understand if the compressor went out 10-15 years but this thing never worked right and now it's on me to pay almost 2000 to have it fixed.

After 30 phone calls, complaint to BBB and corporate office I got hold of one manager who came out to look at system. Took 500 off the job and it was fixed. Still makes funny noises when turned on but it works.

Please stay away. The techs are nice for small stuff but run away from a new install.

The only reason I am giving any stars is that Randy, the technician was courteous and very nice to work with. We received a bid for $6800 for water heater replacement. Of course I told him we were going to need more quotes because that seemed high. Next one to come in was $4500 and third one actually troubleshot the issue and made a small needed repair. Now working fine for $165! Called Marcia at customer service to give them some feedback (unsolicited and unnecessary) and she was nice at first until the end of the call when she got very condescending and quite honestly didn't even say thanks. The funny thing is I prompted it (I was giving them feedback to help them!) and she would not thank me. I asked why and she said ""I already said have a nice day, that's more than enough"". With customer service like this, I'm wondering how the ones who complain are treated... I was being nice knowing feedback on lost sales is important.
