Don's leadership has propelled BelRed's growth, but he is equally committed to advancing the HVAC industry. Don has been involved in several key initiatives, including:

The HVAC Advisory Board at Bellingham Technical College
North Seattle Community College Voc Tech Advisory Board
The Washington State Task Force focused on HVAC Licensing
Honeywell's Contractors Advisory Board
Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) National Board

He is a past president of the Washington chapter of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) and serves on the Board of the Washington State HVAC/R Association, where he advocates for improved standards among HVAC contractors in our state.

Don't use this company. The services are over charged. The technicians are lack of professional training. The company conducts itself without customer considerations.

James P came today for our cooling and heating maintenance service. He is professional, decent , knowledgeable, polite. He is not like some other technicians try to sell products. He spend much more time than other technicians to check everything through carefully. He was very concern about our safety because of the our furnace is going to wear out any time. I totally agree it is old and already show the sign that it is time to replace a new one before it is getting really cold. Very good experience with him.

They came out to service our heat-pump/electric furnace bc the air-handler stopped working and also to discuss upgrading to a higher end Bosch system. Hearing the quotes for the upgrades ($14k for the outdoor unit+ airhandler upgrade?!) quickly dissuaded me from that option and should have clued me in on what to come.
The tech quickly diagnosed the issue: bad blower motor. He quoted me $1192+tax, which I thought was expensive, but I was not expecting it so out of line compared to other service providers, so I accepted it. I was also quoted (and declined) $421 for annual maintenance (2x my previous costs) and $336 for a condensate pump replacement.
I read the negative reviews (postmortem unfortunately) regarding price gouging and their standard response is that they're upfront with the quotes, which is true. So lessons learned:
- never again accept a quote w/o research
- never hire BelRed ES again

If I could give zero reviews I would - these guys red flagged my furnace and tried to get me to buy a new one for $7000+
I got a second opinion and discovered there is nothing wrong with the old (10 yrs) furnace. Shame on you BelRed

Inconsistent prices. Last year I paid less than $200 for them to come out and service my furnace- just the annual service, no repairs needed. This year, they want over $300 for the same service, but this time I am being charged more because my furnace is in the attic. I told the woman on the phone that the extra cost was ridiculous. No thank you. there is no reason to suddenly jack up your prices. Furnace maintenance is a dime a dozen. Moving onto a different company.

More interested in selling to you than actually helping. Will send multiple techs that give different advice or contradict each other. It is rare that a job is fully finished. Often too booked to provide quick service.

I received a call today from BelRed to discuss my experience. I was pleasantly surprised as they listened to what I had to say and they outlined their investigation into the matter with the technician. They also offered to refund the second fees charged for the diagnosis and difficult access fee as the problem was originally diagnosed as a potential problem, but without certainty. Note, this is their policy on how to charge and not an exception which was great to hear. I am very appreciative, of the follow-up, their willingness to listen to feedback, and their quick response to make this right. Thank you!

I called to have two vents repaired that the previous owners had damaged by cutting into the duct work and vents weren't added. They could not give me a quote, but said it would be $98 to give me a bid. I asked if that cost was absorbed into the work if I had them do the work, she said that's not how they bill. I don't mind paying the fee for the quote, but I have the work done and not wasting their time, I'm not sure why that fee applies still. I found two other companies coming out to bid that DO absorb the cost, so I'd suggest calling a few places to save yourself a little money.

I used Bel Red for a number of years to service my furnace, plumbing and air conditioner. The service was fine, but I noticed in recent years that they started getting much more aggressive about up-selling. For example, in 2017 the technician inspected my A/C and told me it's a very simple appliance that would run forever, and made some minor repairs. In 2018 the technician told a completely different story. He told me the unit was about to die and highly recommended replacing it. How could such a huge change happen in one year? It doesn't add up.

I noticed further instances of up-selling after that point. For example in 2019 during my plumbing service I was told all my toilets badly needed to be rebuilt and would cost over $3500. I lost trust that Bel Red would be honest about the inspections, so I cancelled my service contract.

Beware of cancelling your service contract mid-year if you are on monthly payments. I was never told that I would forfeit any money going towards next year's service and lost several hundred dollars. I'm now planning to file a BBB complaint as well as a small claims law suit over this lost money.

Shame on you Bel Red! You are not acting in your customers' best interest.
