Awesome Plumbing's service was excellent. I had a heat pump water heater installed and not many plumbers are interested in new technology. AP is very experienced and calculated the rebate for me (including squeezing my project into a tight window to qualify for a higher rebate). They were very helpful with the permits, and did a great job on the install, making some suggestions that make better use of the space and will make servicing the unit easier. The unit we installed was defective and AP helped me work with the manufacturer to get replacement parts and did the labor with no charge to me. Overall a great experience and I highly recommend!

We recently replaced our aging gas tank water heater with a new electric heat pump water heater. We got quotes from several local plumbers, all with great reviews. After some deliberation we chose to go with Sung at Awesome Plumbing, and couldn't be happier with our choice. His quote was not the lowest, but it was much more reasonable than some of the bigger companies. Additionally, he included some very useful extras, like a thermostatic mixing valve (allows the HPWH to stay at a higher temperature for more effective capacity and efficient operation).

On the scheduled day Sung showed up on time, and spent several hours working hard installing the new water heater. The work is very neat and tidy, and the water heater has been operating perfectly so far. The city inspector came and everything passed on the first try.

Then a few weeks later, as promised, I got a rebate check in the mail from BayRen.

Overall, nothing more I could ask for.

When my gas water heater failed, Mr. Sung came early the next morning to provide a quote. His price was fair and he shared rebates that were available through BayRen and Peninsula Clean Energy, which he submitted on my behalf. He did a fantastic job installing my heat pump water heater (HPWH), filed the necessary permits, and completed the work on time, with quality craftsmanship. Not many plumbers in the Bay Area are familiarly with HPWHs yet, but Mr. Sung is clearly an expert. I highly recommend him if you are consider heat pump water heater installation.

Sung is an incredible person to work with. We decided to switch to an electric heat pump when replacing our water heater. He was very responsive and walked me through exactly what would need to change, provided a clear estimate, and gave me clear expectations on different rebate programs and timeline. Installation went smoothly and despite putting in a long day, he took his time to ensure that things were working in every bathroom and took some extra time to educate me on a few things I could do for maintenance and to keep our family healthy. During inspection for the permit, the inspector was very impressed with the work. Sung is an approved BayREN contractor and handled all of the paperwork for rebate programs offered by BayREN and Peninsula Clean Energy. Both rebates were approved and checks mailed within weeks. Sung is incredibly professional, communicative, and on top of everything. I cannot recommend working with him and Awesome Plumbing enough.

This review will be very similar to the others here. We needed to replace our old gas tank water heater with a hybrid heat pump tank. Sung came in and assessed our situation and determined there was a better place to locate the new tank. We moved it from inside our condo unit to the garage instead. He explained the entire process very clearly and was very straightforward about the work involved. This was a full two-day job and Sung worked diligently and efficiently each day. Sung is a dedicated professional and I'll definitely hire him for all future plumbing needs.

Sung really is awesome. (Honestly, I chose him partly for the name, as well as the reviews.) We contacted him when our water heater broke, and (unlike another person we got an estimate from), he gave some thought to the location of the water heater, and our interest in electric options, and recommended a better option than what we were considering. He was able to come quickly and do the job, and we're very happy with the results in terms of efficiency. 

There was a lot of bureaucracy around getting a heat pump water heater. We had to get a permit (which Sung facilitated), for which we needed to insulate our water pipes. For someone clueless like me, this was a confusing and challenging task - so Sung kindly came round and educated me on which pipes are which in my garage. We also needed to have, due to city regulations, a gas safety check of the whole house, and this revealed some minor leaks that had to be fixed - I was told they weren't at all dangerous, but once PG&E *knows* about a leak, they want it fixed, because liability. So that added extra cost (but luckily Sung could do it, and the price was very reasonable).

I feel like he knows his stuff, and is trustworthy, and extremely helpful and hardworking. I would call on him any time.

This is my second time using Awesome plumbing. I wanted to install a toto Neorest toilet, and it definitely has special installation process. Sung came and made some very creative solutions to make the installation work with the minimum amount of intrusions. The end result was amazing.

I would highly recommend Sung if anyone is looking to install more complex toto toilets.

I found out about this business from BayRen list of vendors to install electric water heater and get the state rebate. He was the cheapest bid of 3-4 quoted I got and also, the most helpful, taking the time to educate me (I'm machine Luddite and very intimidated gullible homeowner, total bait for exploitative contractors of which I've had my share of exposures sadly). He also gave me tons of tips like a pan to place the heater on just in case of leaks etc and added it for free, inspected the existing system and noticed pressure regulating device (forgot name) on back side of garage, inspected main panel and told me what I can do on my own to cut costs further. He also was so kind and thoughtful and I felt he genuinely approached my project like it was for his own family member. He was also professional, punctual, responsive and I had a lot of questions!!
He is smart you can tell, and knows to think outside the box for creative solutions and I am so grateful to know he's there for even a big intimidating job like switching to solar and installing electric water heaters. He's handling the rebate process too and I trust his competency 1,000%. He is not only competent but kind. Call him. He will be upfront what he can or cannot do. Clear as day communications.
