Applewood saved us today by coming out so quickly to fix our AC! It went out last night and I called in a panic this morning and they were so sweet about working us in today because we have a four month old baby and it was almost 90 degrees in our house. Tony showed up right on time and did a great job. The issue was fixed extremely fast and he explained everything thoroughly. We would use them again!

I would stay away. This company is WAY too expensive. They charged me $687 to replace my garbage disposal. I found out my neighbor had her's replaced the same week for $280. I called, and they gave me $100 back. Still ridiculous. They wanted to charge me almost $4,000 to replace my water heater. Haha! Lesson learned - I found someone to do it for $1350. Good service but the price is nowhere near worth it. You can find just as quality work for more than half the price.

Had Applewood come out to ""fix"" problem with water entering the tub. Price was very high, but problem was fixed initially. Less than a year later, the same problem occurs with the same tub, and they will be glad to send someone out to fix it again, but I will have to pay again. I figure I can find someone who can truly fix this problem for a cheaper price.

Run, do not walk, from this company!

We have lived in our townhouse through two summers, and the AC never really kept up with the outside temp despite having it serviced last year. In anticipation of this year's heat, we called Applewood.

I requested annual maintenance and a charge of coolant. The first tech came out and installed two fairly expensive parts, which was okay if they were needed. But he didn't wash down the air handler, and the final bill included a ""membership fee"" for $198. That wasn't okay, and the house was still not cooling down. I called, and they sent out a different tech that same evening.

Michael was great -- very knowledgeable, and he answered my questions. He also made an appt with me to come back in a couple of days and wash down the AC handler to finish the job properly.

The AC is working better than ever. The staff, through my many phone calls, was consistently and unfailingly polite and accommodating. My problem is with the membership fee.

It was explained to my husband that its purpose was to reduce the cost of the repair, and would include other services for one year. However, the other services were things I wouldn't likely have needed or used, and the full cost, minus the membership, was only a few dollars more than the service was with the membership added. So the membership is actually an advance charge for services you never asked to receive, and it's an annual fee that you have to proactively cancel.

When I protested, Applewood refunded the charge and said we would still receive the benefits for this year. I still don't need them, and I appreciated the refund. The membership fee looks and smells fishy, and I've wondered how many customers paid for it without realizing what they just bought. That kind of thing is unbecoming a reputable company. I really hope Applewood reconsiders, and eliminates it.

I hesitantly joined Applewood's service club last year, and am so thankful I did! I've had bad luck with appliances over the past 12 months and the membership paid for itself after the first repair. Everyone I've worked with at this company has been honest, helpful, and fast- from the customer service dept to service techs. Billy in particular was a huge help with my water heater repair- he made a really frustrating situation much more bearable by explaining my options, pricing, and background on the repair.

The plumber was very knowledgeable and did quality work. The price however was WAY too high. The plumber did inform me of the price before he started the job (Applewood has flat rates depending on the job). He told me that it may take him up to 4 hours to complete the job (we had to have a cast iron pipe cut and connected to pvc). The job took the plumber 30 minutes (although he stuck around for another 30 minutes to make sure there were no leaks)and they charged me $680.00. The work was quality but I'm sure you can find quality work at an hourly rate.

I won t even give them an one star as they didn t even earn that ! their tech had the nerve to want to charge me a and do say ridiculous $18k to do a simple job like resolder a couple baseboard registers . Even though he wanted to repipe the whole upstairs which by the way is fairly plumbing installed with the boiler as well as all new plumbing at the time he could in no way evr justify that cost ! It s more than what I paid for the boiler and all new plumbing at the time !! These people are robbers !!

Called them to give us a quote on installing a water line for our new fridge. The technician came the following week and quoted us $3800 telling us they had to do ""extensive house work"" to properly install it, and told them we would get back to them. Called two other plumbing companies that day and had it installed for $300. Insane prices from this company do not recommend.

$3,824 quote for 6 hours of labor only ($637/hour)?!!!!!!!

Needed a plumber to replace a dishwasher, two bathroom faucets, and a busted outside faucet that was busted from the winter cold. Based on my previous experience with good plumbers, I expected to spend $600-$1,000. Applewood's quote came at $3,824 for 6 hours (labor only). That is $637/hour. I called to give feedback. The woman answering the phone handled the call herself, and was indifferent to my complaint. ""we quote by the job, not by the hour"" she said.

Called Applewood for a main line cleaning, they were able to set up an appointment for me in the afternoon from 2pm to 4pm. They called me at 3pm informing me that they would not honor my appointment because the tech ran into issues at the previous job. Applewood canceled my appointment during the time it was supposed to happen. This is not how to do business when I expect you to perform a service, you need to honor my original appointment. They wouldn't even give me a rough estimate of what the cost would be. Its just a way to get a tech in your home, make up a bunch of crap and charge you out the butt. This is not how you should conduct business.
