Recommended Customer Reviews

I agree with the other reviews - one star is too high of a rating. This is definitely a 0-star crew.
He did not fix the problem. He charged us for a product that was deemed completely unusable by the next three plumbers we had look at it. I called to ask him to come out and re-do the job and I was giving a self-righteous speech about how he is a ""master plumber"" and then I was hung up on.
A couple of weeks after this incident I received an additional bill from him. Keep in mind, he didn't come out again or do anything except answer the phone and yell at me. Absolutely absurd!
In case you haven't caught on yet...
DO NOT HIRE THESE GUYS!

Even one star is too much for this company. Terrible service and worse customer skills.
The home insurance companies shouldn't work with this company.
American Plumbing needs to have plumbing 101, work on their behavior, and customer service relations, before they search for another job in the area. I would never and ever hire them again.

If i could give no stars I would.
Was referred to them by our home warranty company and they sent Mario (? pretty sure) out. He told us that he couldn't fix our problem because we didn't have a clean out valve .. our home warrenty wouldn't cover the stoppage unless we had the clean out valve so we paid Mario $425 to install a clean out and fix the problem. Done.
Fast forward to this morning. Exact same stoppage occurring in the exact same spot in our house. We assume that now we have a clean out so we'll just call the home warrenty company and have someone out and it will be 100% covered this time. They send out a new guy .. he asks us where our clean out is? We show him where Mario said our new clean out was and he says, ""That's not a clean out....."" He proceeds to look around the house and comes back and says .. ""Yeah.. he didn't install a clean out. He basically charged you $425 to put a cap on the line.""
We called Mario to see if he had some answers and my husband had absolutely no chance to even explain to him what happened or ask him about the 90-day warrenty on his work that is on the invoice before he started cussing out my husband and threatening to show us his ""french-side"" ....
He completely ripped us out of $425 which we plan to fight for and now we have to go back to the beginning and pay someone all over again to properly install the clean out. We just purchased our home a month ago and being ripped off by a plumber is pretty disenchanting. I am a business owner myself and would absolutely never provide this kind of service.
Shame on you.

Just recently had a run-in with American Plumbing (a.k.a. American Plumbing & Drain) through home protection plan. I take no issue with their work. As far as I know, they did an adequate job. But they also:
1) Have *atrocious* customer service. Feel like getting yelled at by a self-righteous plumber about how amazing his work is in spite of the fact that he did NOT fix the original problem? Yeah, neither did I.
2) Left all the busted, old pipes in the backyard. His argument is that he left them there so we'd know he completed the work. And yes, they were collected, ""nicely"" in a bin, but what am I supposed to do with moldly, gross, broken old pipes? We did not ask him for the ""old parts"" and when it was requested that he remove them, he got obnoxious and indignant (i.e. refer to item #1).
3) Left mounds of caked dirt, sewage, A DEAD RAT, and whatever-else on my porch because the technician decided to change into his suit under the awning since it was a raining lightly. No, he didn't clean up or even acknowledge the mess.
I expect calling a plumber (or any service technician) to get major work done to be stressful. It doesn't have to be *this* stressful.
ONE STAR.

AHS sends these guys over because they probably charge the customer most of the plumbing costs.
The guy quoted me $650 for a job which I decided to get a 2nd opinion on. A local plumber fixed it for $60.
Mario quoted a friend $850 to install a water heater even though AHS was going to pay for the heater and installation. The $850 was for bringing it up to code and a bunch of other useless stuff.
Either these guys are over-charging customers intentionally or they have no idea what they are doing.
I would totally avoid this company.

I am extremely unhappy with this unprofessional and rude guys. Mario is the rudest of all and does not care about his customer. I am engineer and my feeling is that they are earning lots of money better than I do- so damn to the customers. If I can, I will give negative stars and I am pretty sure that positive comments in these reviews was done by Mario's own people. My request to you all of you - do not go with Americal Plumbing and keep a big distance from this guy Mario. There are lots of professional and nice plumbing company in San Jose - put your dollar there.

mario came right on time to replace our leaking water heater! As the water heater was over 20 years old, I had no doubt that it needed to be replaced. I had drained the water heater before he came, but he replaced the water heater and added 2 ball levers (input AND output). We only had one faucet-type valve (on input) and that had deteriorated so badly that it didn't work anymore. That meant that we had to turn off the water to the house :(. With the two valves, it will be much easier to replace next time. And, he took the old water heater away, too!
Mario came and replaced bathroom faucets and tub/shower faucet for me in the past; his work has been very good. He's very fair on price, too!
I'd call him again, no hesitation!

DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING!
This is the most unprofessional and unethical business I've ever encountered with in my entire life. We had them come to our house for a plumbing repair and they didn't finish the job but told us that everything was fixed.
Furthermore, they hit our neighbor's side of the house and broke their gutter! We contacted them to have them repair the gutter and they denied it. They said that no one saw it and vehemently denied they did nothing wrong.
This is a terrible business. The owner, MARIO, is a jerk. The plumber that caused the damage is Kenny. Do not go here!

Mario has done great work for us whenever we needed a plumber. They are professional, easy to work with and they do it right the first time.

We've used American Plumbing on more than one occasion now. We've found Mario to be easy to work with and helpful. He educates his customers and finds ways to work with them in an efficient, cordial and cost-sensitive manner. He has also been willing come by on a Saturday because that was more convenient for us. (We never saw anything approaching the problems reported by Lexi M. in an earlier post.)
We'll be glad to use Mario again.
