I had a 150' long x 1"" PVC pipe leaking for years. Finally gave up digging holes here and there. Scott came out right on time in their ALD truck. First thing was he gave me his business card. Darn important. I've grown tired of contractors showing up in unmarked cars/trucks and without their business cards. He set up his test equipment and within just a few minutes he declared that he'd found the leak.

I must admit I was somewhat skeptical. But after digging down a few feet, there was the leak! Grabbed some PVC fittings and glue and had it finally fixed.

Scott at ALD was professional, on-time and got it spot on.

American Leak Detection is great! After receiving a very high PG&E and water bill ($300+ each) I decided to contact a local plumber to assess for a water leak. This other company was very nice and quite affordable, but I was not satisfied in their ""rough"" estimate of where an actual leak may be located. I was told their leak detection would consist of breaking through the foundation of my bathroom (where the sound of running water was slightly audible). My insurance recommended American Leak Detection as they have had positive experiences in the past. I was glad I did! An appointment was scheduled the very next day and the technician was able to quickly locate the leak. He came equipped with an infrared device which was able to pinpoint a hot water leak underneath my vanity. My options were explained and I decided on a pipe repair ($1400), which consisted of exposing the eroded pipe, repairing the damaged area, then resealing the exposed foundation. Given my busy schedule I was not able to start work right away, but the technician made sure to adjust the water heater in the interim (to stop the round-the-clock cycling). One week later, a seasoned plumber and his apprentice came by to complete the job. They were terrific! They walked me through what to expect, made sure to minimize the mess caused by the repair, finished within a reasonable amount of time, and were great with my two yapping dogs. I had a GREAT experience working with American Leak Detection and highly recommend them!

I very rarely leave reviews as I am lazy, but I want to leave this as a kind of thanks. They did mess up on a leak fix on a pool pump suction line by re-installing a check valve sideways, so that I thought that the leak was still there. The company was very responsive. They came out to recheck the leak tightness, and quickly found the check valve issue was the probable cause. Nevertheless, they spent the time to recheck the pipe, and didn't charge me a penny. I suppose that they had made a mistake, but it was a trivial one (loosen some screws, rotate the valve, and re-tighten). What impressed me was their cheerfulness and responsiveness in fixing it for free. Incidentally, they were the low bid and saved me $.

This company is beyond bad. Called them a month ago, and explicitly stated what my issue was with my spa, the equipment I have and details about the problem. They said they could take care of it, but it would be 3 weeks. before they could come out to my house. I agreed. 3 weeks later they arrived to my house. The repairman took one look at my spa and said he couldn't work on it this type of equipment. I said I'd gone over this equipment in detail on 2 occasions with his company and waited 3 weeks for them to arrive. He said sorry and quickly left. I have never in my life hired a repair company who knew exactly what I had and made me wait 3 weeks then refused to even look at the problem. I asked for the owner to contact me and he both wouldn't come to the phone, nor call me back to explain what happened. I will NEVER again use this company for any issue and I encourage my friends and family to avoid them at all costs.

Terrible Experience. Here is a double review. 10 years ago ALD diagnosed an exterior leak. We hired them to complete a workaround fix by capping the pipe. Well the funny thing was they did not solve the leak and they actually capped the wrong part of the irrigation that we needed for the landscape. HA! It was a disaster. Needless to say we refused to pay and explained we did not want them back to rack up more expenses since we had no faith in their hokey methods. They tried to scare us by threatening a lean on the house but as soon as we talked about small claims court we never heard from them again. We hired a plumber to use some creative engineering to allow us to hand water the lawn knowing the leak was still there but only active while watering the lawn. Fast forward 10 years. Well we had to sell the property and hired a plumber to help us set up irrigation in the back yard. Since the leak now had to be addressed in ernest the plumber hired his own leak detector. I warned him about our experience but he gave me a different company name. I met the leak detectors and failed to notice until it was too late that it was AML again. The friendly YOUNG man walked around with his headphones and listening device and finely settled on a spot under the concrete where he found the leak.
The plumber dug the concrete but was suspicious of a leak if there was zero signs of water. The pipes were fine and there was no leak. He filled it and we called AML. Well the guarantee said you have to dig 3 feet radius around the spot and the plumber only dug 18 inches because he was convinced it was not there. The company would not honor their guarantee. So the plumber went back in and dug up the 3 feet of concrete to show there was no leak at this spot.
AML finally connected our old problem and refused to honor the guarantee. We paid the $395 for the inept assessment. Ridiculous customer service, really inept service professionals and let it be known they will not honor their work. The fine print is exhausting which means they need to cover themselves! Leak was solved by a thorough and expert plumber that worked hard to solve a difficult problem. AML are rediculous and vindictive. Unless a very obvious problem I would not use this company and if you do -be forewarned that if things do not go well they will be negative help....actually will try to blame you!

Terrible experience. I called them because I had a leak. I did the bucket test and it showed I had a leak. I called them out and they said there was no leak 9 months later my pool is leaking more than ever. I called to let them know and see if they would come out and test again for less than the standard $400. They said no only full price. Why would I ever use them. Need to learn about customer service. Pool business is done by referrals. I will make sure that everyone knows not to use you.

American Leak Detection is one of those companies that you hope you don't have to call, but you are grateful that they are there when you do. My insurance company sent them out to review a plumbing issue in an upstairs unit was was leaking into my unit.

I was blown away by how professional, courteous and smart their inspector - Tanner Cook Don't let his youthful looks fool, you this guy is a real pro. He was thorough and explained everything in layman's terms. Very please. Good company.

After checking our water bill, we noticed an abnormal 200 gallon/day increase in our usage. We checked the meter, and we confirmed the loss. We did not check our water bill carefully, and the leak had been active for about a year. What a loss!!
So we called American Leak Detection, a reputable leak detection company, and a technician arrived at our residence within a few hours.
We have more than an acre of irrigated property in Lafayette, and we were concerned that the detection problem would be a huge challenge, given the hundreds of feet of water lines up and down our hills.
Amazingly, the tech (SM) walked outside the house, simply listening for some sounds, and he discovered the leaks almost immediately. As an amateur musician, I have very good hearing, but neither I nor my wife Elizabeth could hear a thing. SM simply said ""here it is!"". He modestly said ""I have been doing this for many years. What a relief!
